This is pointed out in the video I posted, but this is a deal written in bad faith. They wrote a deal they know Palestine won't sign so they can say, "we tried to make peace but they rejected it," and then use that as justification for everything they're about to do. That was the sole intent of the deal.
Since their 1967 pre-preemptive strikes, Israeli hardliners and Orthodox Jews had no intention to give back lands they stole in (illegal) military conquest. One Jewish critic has said Israel's "peace" negotiations were only for show. They've ignored UN Resolution 242 (which called for withdrawal from occupied territories)for 50 years:
"Operative Paragraph One...'Affirms that the fulfillment of Charter principles requires the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East which should include the application of both the following principles:
(i) Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict;
(ii) Termination of all claims or states of belligerency and respect for and acknowledgment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every State in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force.'"
The territories stated are clearly the areas designated by the UN in 1948.
Over the last 50 years the entire world, the US included, has envisioned a two state solution as the only realistic answer in Palestine. In 1993 an important (and hopeful )agreement was signed- the Oslo Peace Accords, though it proved to be yet another treaty to be broken by Israel. They seem to have real problem following international law:
"The first step was a partial Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and Jericho and transfer of some powers and responsibilities on civil matters to the interim Palestinian Authority. All to agree upon within two months from October 1993 .
Then, Israeli troops to withdraw from populated Palestinian areas to pave the way for Palestinian elections to establish the Council. The Council would replace the PA, and the Israeli Civil Administration in the West Bank would be dissolved. Further redeployments of Israeli troops would follow upon the inauguration of the Council:
'After the inauguration of the Council, the Civil Administration in the West Bank will be dissolved, and the Israeli military government shall be withdrawn....'
Twenty-five years later, however, the withdrawal of Israeli troops did not take place, and the Civil Administration still has permanent military presence in more than 80% of the West Bank (Area B and C).
In May 1999, the five years interim period ended without reaching a comprehensive peace agreement, but elements of the Oslo Accords remained. At the 2000 Camp David Summit, the US tried to save the Accords by reviving the negotiations. After the failure of the Summit, the Second Intifada broke out and the "peace process" reached deadlock."
Within the talks of 2007--'09, 2010, and '13-'14 (the last peace initiative involving the PA), it's obvious Israel never planned to grant any concessions for the Palestinians. The new "deal", constructed SOLELY by Netenyahu and other US Orthodox Jews like Dershowitz, Greenbladt, Kushner, and Friedman was born dead. It's been wisely pointed out that its purpose was to guarantee rejection (as it's always been). The US is not a neutral party. The only way for legitimate discussions to happen is if they're led by say Japan, Finland, etc.- countries without such heavy ties to either side.
It's funny anyone could think this war is over. 95% of the world's countries already recognize the nation of Palestine. Even with the media blackout on Israel's murders and human rights abuses, enough information is leaking out to disturb the conscience of common men and women. Despite the Israel/US efforts to balkanize southwest Asia, there is still a strong resistance against their occupying force. A thousand Kushners or Netenyahus couldn't hold Gaza, the Golan, and the West bank forever. The Palestinians are victims to criminal liars. The people of the earth bear witness, the earth bears witness, and God Almighty will not allow such injustice forever.
