The Bible says that gathering together with other believers is really beneficial for our spiritual growth. In the early Christian church in the New Testament, “going to church” wasn’t only about getting together once a week, it was about creating a habit that revealed to the outside world what the early church valued which was community and the risen Jesus.
So the early church is an example to us, to show us why church, or gathering together for worship and study, was important as well as why attending church might be useful for our own spiritual journey.
Biblically God wants his people to meet together regularly so they can inspire and support one another to live a life of love and doing good, and also to recognize each other’s strengths, spiritual gifts, and roles that we can play as members of the body of Christ, also known as the church, "For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one” (Romans 12:4-5).
