... I don't necessarily agree that the establishment of the State of Israel or the restoration of the Jewish community back into the Holy Land is 'God's work' ... In other words, Israel is the inevitable result of geopolitically favourable conditions ...
It seems the two of us are in excellent historical company:

".. I have always understood, by the Jews before Zionism was invented, that to bring the Jews back to form a nation in the country from which they were dispersed would require Divine leadership. I have never heard it suggested, even by their most fervent admirers, that either Mr. Balfour or Lord Rothschild would prove to be the Messiah."

Well, Netanyahu is just a few steps away from being declared king of Israel basically.

"a law approved on Monday would permit a prime minister to declare war by himself, or take a step that could lead to war, if he also holds the Defense portfolio, legal sources in the Knesset said on Tuesday." link

Only a matter of time before people start to realize that there is an ideology that really does matter more than all the rest. I truly think that the only reason people try to promote the opinion that these people trying to take over the world don't care about ideology is that they think that this will be some way to mend the divisions. Believing a lie isn't going to mend any divisions.

Although, I am more inclined to call this ideology a Jewish cult because that is what it is, a Jewish cult rooted in false Messianism. I have formed the opinion recently that the Kabbalah could be more accurately described as a doctrine of false Messianism rather than simply calling it mysticism because it was the belief of false Messiahs like Jacob Frank that the Kabbalah could replace the majority of Jewish teaching. Essentially, the Kabbalah could create a pseudo-New Covenant.

This Jewish cult teaching is not specific to any particular Jew who has attempted to identify themselves as a Messiah and this is because the teaching is supposed to inspire false Messianism. The teaching is not something that a single person has misrepresented, and it is this teaching and a desire for a Messiah that will be able to eliminate Christianity that is behind all of this.

Benjamin Netanyahu new status is just a preview of all that is still to come. I would imagine that TPTB thinks this will happen sooner rather than later, which is why the leader of China removed presidential term limits. I guess this is easier than experiencing a change of leadership that could disrupt the progress with the next 20 years.

But Damascus is being destroyed. That has never happened before and lo and behold it is happening.

What is so funny about that ?
It has to become ruinous heap, nuclear bomb is the only logical explanation, when it happens we all know that it happened, there will be no doubts...

Either that or a sudden release of stored chemical or biological agents following a conventional attack. Who knows...

I went into the pantry in our house looking for a bag of popcorn my wife had asked me to get for her. That was fine because I knew exactly what I was looking for.

Nothing.

Returning to her I told her that she had ran out and if she wanted popcorn, she could pick some up next time we were out. Her eyes rolled and down we went to the pantry.

"What's this then?" the question came.

I had been looking right at the bag but couldn't see it because I was expecting a different packet!!!

As with popcorn, so with prophecy. Thinking you know exactly how things will pan out can stop you seeing what is right in front of you.

This is definitely not good. At all!! It means this war is inevitable and that Israel will be an aggressor-in-disguise. I can't put my finger on an example, at the moment, but its all too familiar....passing a bunch of laws in advance of an illegitimate war.

Good find though, Rain :)

Right, it basically means that Netanyahu can declare war that could drag the US in by default. It truly sickens me.

It is like the final plan of Zionism is almost complete where the prime minister of Israel can basically declare war for Israel and the US, which will basically make him a leader over the US completely bypassing our process of an election, and finalizing the overthrow of the US after years of patiently deceiving people with the lie that Israel is an "ally."

It just sickens me. They have almost officially stolen our country from us.

True. Sickening and spine-chilling! If I were living in the region, it would basically mean, I have a few months left to live.
I wonder where all this falls, in the "innocent Israel facing bloodthirsty Gog and Magog" narrative.

I found Red's response to me funny.

Its very easy to wage wars and neatly claim them as prophetic fulfillment. Certainly Daystar and TBN are well aware of the significance of that verse.

What a time to live in!

The popcorn thing cuts both ways as well - I am going to try to make a concerted effort to take my eschatology from the Bible, not YouTube, and keep my eyes wide open...

I see Israel is spray peppered here as Iran is establishing bases in Syria.

But Iran is a death and doomsday regime who utter threats against Israel every other week. And Iran is not going to give up Syria and take their Hezbollah in Lebanon with them back to Iran where they belong and leave Israel alone.

No it will be war of course and that's for sure because it is written in the Bible. And it is not Israel's fault but the world.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahdi

"Shias believe that the arrival of the Mahdi will be signalled by the following portents:[4]

* The vast majority of people who profess to be Muslim will be so only in name despite their practice of Islamic rites, and it will be they who make war with the Mahdi.
* Before his coming will come the red death and the white death, killing two thirds of the world's population. The red death signifies violence and the white death is plague.[citation needed] One third of the world's population will die from the red death and the other third from the white death.
* Several figures will appear: the Al-Harth, Al-Mansur, Shuaib bin Saleh and the Sufyani.
* There will be a great conflict in the land of Syria, until it is destroyed.
* Death and fear will afflict the people of Baghdad and Iraq. A fire will appear in the sky and a redness will cover them.

Shia traditions also state that the Mahdi be "a young man of medium stature with a handsome face" and black hair and beard. "He will not come in an odd year [...] will appear in Mecca between the corner of the Kaaba and the station of Abraham and people will witness him there.[4]"

God foretold in His book that He would bring them back and so now when they're back after about 2000 years it is not God fulfilling His words of bringing them back ? Who are you trying to fool ?

. . . "bringing them back ?" . . . Look, I know you love your Bible but what you say makes no scriptural nor historic sense. The Jews never went away, they were living in Jerusalem and the Holy Lands for the past millenium. That is historical fact. Therefore, the Jewish presence in the Holy Lands never went away, (in order for God to ordain "bringing them back") !?

On the scriptural aspect, the return of your Messianic Israel is [conditional] to the return of the Jewish Messiah. So are you suggesting that Theodor Herzl and/or Arthur Balfour or Lord Rothschild (as @Serveto suggests in his post, above) could be the candidates for the much anticipated Biblical figure !?

As i've stated in my previous post, Israel is the product of Muslim political weakness and disintegration. Its this fortuitous geopolitical conjunction that allows Israel to exist. If that conjunction is guaranteed by God, then you may be right. But if that conjunction is subject to the ebb and flow of history, your Bible will very soon prove to be at odds with the flow of history. You will find yourself in a most embarrassing position and will have to deploy some pretty fancy excuses for the failure of the current Israeli state to precipitate Christ's reign on earth!?

Let me give you a salient lesson from history. This isn't the first time Muslims have lost Jerusalem and the Holy Lands, it happened during the Crusades but they managed to win everything back. That was the last time Muslims interrupted Christ's reign on earth. They are, certainly, capable of throwing another spanner in the works with Israel.

I'm thoroughly confident about my reading of history, as well as the poor performance of the Bible as an oracle of prophecy.

An alternative theory: John Nelson Darby predicted the creation of the state of Israel more than 100 years before it happened. Given his background and his legacy (the bearing it has on American foreign policies in the Middle East), it was probably an auspicious time for 'them' (for a multitude of reasons BTW), and not mainly dependent on weak Arab states.
That's how we, Christians, end up with all the "7" talk or number-crunching on this issue. I think its all by design. Example

Am I to assume it was all a coincidence that, Trump made the Jerusalem announcement late last year, afew months before the 70th anniversary of the creation of Israel? This could have been done by any other president. Incidentally, the embassy move will take place on that anniversary.

@Serveto posted this in the Christian Zionism thread

Kabbalists do things not only according to their book, but also by the numbers, and, if it is not coincidental, there might be some secret, occult meaning to the number 70. I noticed, when news first broke of Trump's making good on his campaign promise to Sheldon Adelson to move the American embassy to Jerusalem, that it broke with 70 years of American intransigence in that regard:

Serveto, please repost the whole thing for me, with the source. Thanks!

Just looking into 70s, I came across the following:

TRUMP WON BY 77 ELECTORAL VOTES, DONALD TRUMP WAS 70 YEARS OLD, 7 MONTHS AND 7 DAYS FIRST FULL DAY IN OFFICE

Either the Occultists have some amazing powers or there are some spectacular 'coincidences' going on here...
