The resulting liberal meltdown and responses on twitter have been quite entertaining. Just a few highlights -
“I’m going to leave Twitter if Elon Musk takes over” is the new “I’m going to move to Canada if Trump wins”.
"The left wing blue check panic over @elonmusk potentially buying @twitter is glorious. All the blue checks who have lectured us for years by saying, “It’s a private company, if you don’t like it, leave” are panicking like crazy over their echo chambers being challenged. Love. It."
"I'll leave twitter if Elon takes over!" *gets into Tesla and drives away. The intersection of angry twitter blue checks and Tesla owners is delicious.
"If you are threatening to leave Twitter because it might be bought by a pro-free speech guy and he will likely change it from the authoritarian, pro-censorship leftist, progressive echo-chamber it has become, there is simply no way you are one of the good guys. Not possible."
"Imagine if the hysterical left did actually leave twitter and ended up having to go out into the street and yell their pronouns at everyone?"
"Elon Musk is bad news. He should start his own platform, maybe Oligarch Social, and leave Twitter alone."
(So somehow twitter censorship = free speech while reinstating free speech = oligarchy??? Are people really this stupid?? Yes... yes they are.)
I just hope Musk goes through with the sale and makes good on freeing twitter from it's current fascist thought prison. There are many things I don't like about Musk, but the fact that he refused to block Russian news sites from Starlink shows that he is at least serious about free speech... for now.
