I am a Christian living in the UK. I have had friends who were Muslims, others who were Israeli. I have great grandparents who were involved in WW2 and who saw first hand what the Jews had faced in the camps. I also have relatives who live in Jerusalem. The Bible clearly teaches that God will draw and eventually drive the Jewish people back to their ancient homeland in the last days, and deal with them there. If you see it less as an occupation and more of an appointment, it might aid your understanding.

Jews and Muslims (equally loved of God) reject Jesus as the atoning sacrifice for their sins and look to their religious practice to make them right with God. Both groups are wrong, but if my understanding of Isaiah 42 is right, both Jews and Arabic people (perhaps ex-Muslims) rejoice at the coming of the Lord at the end of the Tribulation.

As far as Ezekiel 38 is concerned, some people put the events before the Rapture, others after it, but if Putin is Gog, he will also be 70 in October and not as well as he used to be.
