Don't know if it is for it. But if u consider jk case is big bcz he was driving the car. But they didn't make this much fuss for it. Is it bcz high level of alcohol content?
Believe me this is because of military service. A lot of armies just Stan BTS so they don't know how strict Koreans are about military service. T.O.P from BIG BANG had a scandal during his military service related to him smoking weed and the media haunted him for days until he was so depressed he attempted suicide and stayed in hospital for a day. Still, when he came back he was bashed by K-netz to the point he would say he wanted to leave Korea. Imo, T.O.P and Suga's scandals are of crimes around the same level.
Koreans take military service very seriously and BTS are already being given so many privileges compared to other Korean men and celebrities during their military service like being allowed to release their music regularly so they are going to judge them more harshly too compared to other idols.
When Baekhyun did public service he wasn't even allowed to post pre-recorded YouTube videos which he recorded before enlisting for suspicion he could be earning money from them. Meanwhile, Chanyeol who was in active duty faced no scrutiny because idols who do public service are already seen in a bad light in Korea and many Koreans think they fake illnesses to avoid the tougher active duty service. Taemin fans survived off glimpses of his fingers and hair for most of his military service bcz SHINee members weren't allowed to talk about him or share any pictures after he was shifted from active duty to public service due to severe depression and panic attacks only to protect him from backlash from Knetz who could misunderstand and accuse him of celebrity privilege if he shared anything with his fans.
I also remember Leetuk from Suju was not allowed to leave military service and attend his father's funeral and he talked about how he felt like wanting to kill himself during that phase.
Koreans are ruthless to idols who f**k up during military service and there is already investigation going on about Suga not fulfilling his military service duties properly so I don't think they are being targeted because they are BTS it's just they have enjoyed a lot more privileges than the average Korean man with the extended delay they received and being allowed to post content and release music regularly so they are being judged more harshly too now.
