This verse indicates that Satan likes to explore (sift) our minds to pick up on any character flaws that he can exploit-
Jesus said- “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail" (Luke 22:31/32)

Satan will be punished in hellfire and will die eternally.

Hell was intended only for Satan and his angels. It was never intended for man. It's why God gave us Jesus to die for our sins so that who ever believes in Him will be saved. In order to gain the free gift of eternal life, we must be the one to accept it because love should not be forced, but a choice. We're given free will to choose for ourselves, whether for good or evil.

When and where will the devil receive his punishment? What will that punishment be?

“So it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire” (Matthew 13:40-42).

“The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone” (Revelation 20:10).

“Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41).

“I brought fire from your midst; it devoured you, and I turned you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all who saw you. … You … shall be no more forever” (Ezekiel 28:18-19).

At the end of the world, Satan will be thrown into the lake of fire, which will turn him into ashes and end his existence.

Answer: The devil will be cast into sin-destroying fire on this very earth at the end of the world. God will deal with the devil for his sin, for tempting others to sin, and for hurting and destroying the people God loves.

Note: It is not possible to adequately describe the anguish God will feel when Satan, His own creation, is cast into this fire. How painful this will be not only for those cast into the fire, but for the One who created them in love to begin with.

Personally I've always found this verse symbolises the time period that Soloman threw away his faith in Father and started worshipping mammon (amongst other things). Its surely no coincidence that the weight of gold was 666 talents?

People can argue about who they think Lucifer/Satan really is, or choose to believe the lie that he fomented that he doesn't exist, quoting people that Satan duped into writing such things.

The word "Satan" means "the Opposer"; i.e. the one who opposes God. He (Lucifer) also carries the title "the devil" because he is the inventor of lies.

It should be self-evident that all evil on this planet is centralized, organized and relentless. Anyone who has experienced a few decades of life here in hell (aka planet Earth) should immediately recognize that we are on a steadily accelerating march to new lows of moral depravity and insanity.

Satan's sphere of influence is very simple: he manipulates us through the ego/"self" (the flesh/human). A human can be tempted by treasure and pleasure (material wealth and addictions to food, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sex, etc.) into doing Satan's bidding IF that individual places those worldly objects -- and the emotions they invoke -- above God (Truth, Love, Reason and Common-sense). We have to choose between mammon/materialism (evil/selfishness) and God (good/unselfishness - see: Matt. 6:24).

One of the greatest lies that Satan ever told was to Eve, when he said "in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil" (Gen. 3:5). It was an obvious lie because Adam and Eve were already "gods" (spiritual-Beings/Souls, created by God); that knew they were only temporarily placed inside a human body (Gen. 2:7), to learn how to be good (Gen. 1:26).

It was only after they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good AND evil that they became confused, no longer knowing the difference between the two and forgetting who and what they really are (spiritual-Beings, being taught by God). That is why they suddenly saw themselves as naked humans, instead of as spiritual-Beings temporarily clothed in a human body.

And Lucifer/Satan/Iblis (the devil/red dragon/serpent) has been conning people ever since into believing "they are only human after all" which is the oft-repeated mantra used to justify every selfish, thoughtless, clumsy word or act that humans are allowed to say or do, while we (the spiritual-Being) remain asleep.

Each of us has been given the FREE-WILL to choose between what is good and evil, right and wrong.

Deuteronomy 30:15-20
30:15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
30:16 In that I command thee this day to love the "I AM" thy God, to walk in His Ways, and to keep His Commandments and His Statutes and His Judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the "I AM" thy God shall bless thee in the land where thou goest to possess it.
30:17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

In reality, good and evil are polar opposites, just as what is right and wrong in God's Eyes are polar opposites. It is up to each of us to awaken as our true, spiritual self to be able to differentiate between good and evil, right and wrong, truth and lies, unselfish and selfish, clean and unclean, etc. and then choose of our own free-will what is good, right, true, clean and unselfish over the alternatives.

To illustrate how stupid and satanic it is to take the words of "Sengtan, the third Zen Patriarch" -- which are actually the words Satan duped "Sengtan" into writing down -- and accept these obvious lies as truth, consider something as simple as murder.

Murder, which is a CRIME, is a form of theft. It is the taking of someone else's life UNLAWFULLY. Murder is always EVIL and WRONG. It is NEVER good or right.

It is a LIE to pretend there is nothing wrong with murder, or that there will be no consequences (karma) for committing murder, or that someone shouldn't be very concerned with the consequences (for both them and for their victim) of taking such an evil action that is clearly wrong. In reality, every single murderer will be severely punished for their CRIME. And contrary to what stupid, satanic "zen patriarchs" say, we won't be rewarded for being criminals, in this life or the next.

THAT is our TRUE Reality. Learn to choose what is good, true and right over what is evil, false and wrong that you may LIVE.

You cannot mix lies with truth and hope to be able to differentiate between the two, anymore than you can mix hemlock with water and hope not to be poisoned by drinking the concoction. Anyone who attempts to do so will die in their confusion, being misled by the very same individual who has duped them into believing he doesn't exist, and is only personified in the ego that he manipulates.
