Now the US is attempting to replicate the success of South Korea. Geffen Records teamed up with HYBE. JYP I think teamed up with Warner Music. However I think they will have trouble, because as we've seen so far theres a culture clash. In Asia, Celebrities are expected to be model citizens, as people will try to emulate them. Theres also the work and discipline culture. And the more conservative values. Like say late 90's early 2000's America/UK had in media at the time.

I think theres going to be a problem.
i have always found that groups who seek fame and wealth in america their music takes a nosedive and honestly dips in quality and its more of just an other bandwagon that tweens and young adults are once again expected to lap up. korea pretend its conservative but the you look at the way idol groups dress and they cant fool me to assume that kpop is innocent or pure as it wanta to seem lol. literally every other group i used to like either came from uk went to america and became an utter overhyped garbage filled bandwagon then their hype fizzled out and i almsot forgot i used to like those groups lmao

South Korea is unofficially a US colony. Like the Philippines. Or Japan. It's loaded with US military bases. So South Korea is at the edge of Eastern Conservatism brushing against US progressivism. Theres lots of things that hit against the South Korean broadcast standards. But they are just people. So just like everywhere else in the world. There's always things happening under the surface.

hmmm interesting. i wonder what society wouldve turned out like if there werent rich people littered everywhere in every country. cant even buy a poprerty nowadays because 90% of the properties have gone up in prices because surprise surprise rich celebs have bought all the good ones. literally mansions up north cost more than what any normal person would ever be able to afford and its always in the most usual bog standard rich places like cheshire or hampstead. hows normal korean folk gonna afford much if all the rich celebs get all their apartments just bc theyre from wealthy families?

there isnt much posted on these forums about say footballing industry or athletes besides the ones that have passed on. seems to mostly be generic overhyped entertainers that always get the spotlight in terms of discussions. seems like all the industries are equally as fabricated as the next and it cost a fortune just to enjoy or invest in any aspect of it be it concerts, travel to and from venues and or staying overngiht somewhere to go and visit museums of those popular figures in entertainment its all fucking expensive

Sh1nee were being applauded in SK and kpop twitter yesterday for singing 1 song from their set live. I can't believe K-pop has become so shallow that so-called singers are now being applauded for "singing" live. American music is bad but at least artists sing live most of the time.

Global Real Estate issues are due to a multitude of factors.

1. Investment Firms are buying up properties as future rentals which ties into 2
2. Real Estate speculators are profiting from the Real Estate bubble
3. China has now an increasing middle class who can now afford to invest. And traditionally Asians go first for Real Estate
4. COVID caused a massive inflation of the money supply. The COVID checks were printed out of thin air.
5. Open border immigration Government policies is driving a further demand for housing.

i think it's bc no one would ever think about playing a game=evil deals behind the scenes
as opposed to the music and the acting industry where everyone is se x ualized, where there is random symbolism, and of course songs. There is a clear agenda.

Granted, the fact that so many money and such big fame is at stake for footballers should ring a bell, but personnally I initially thought sports was one harmless industry. I think it's still better to watch sports than glamourized singers. In moderation.

in some way it is only slightly cheaper to watch a sporting event over here but generally its an other expensive and generally sometimes challenging environment for example fi you ever watch derby day footage on youtube, you see how english and scottish clubs are so highly competitive and pair that with rivarly that most clubs seem to have, even football and general sports is less accessible for those who might just want to tune into something as a distraction. that with the clubs and events being able to leach money off middle class incomes given that you arent watching singers try to dance in synch but football is so hit and miss. then it depends on fans high emotional reactions a lot which i found makes the events of going to a sporting even very tiring in my experiences ofc its not that way for everyone. but overall i dont think i could invest so much into entertainmrnt anymore, its just so costly. we even looked at going to a museum for elvis in london but the train tickets were so expensive which didnt help so we decided not to do it this time. even if you wwnt to enjoy sports or music there is always going to be a downside and that is that we are not so simply having to pay a fortune to see already ready made millionaires do whatever it is they do on the off chance that they may bottle it or do a half arsed job or the celebs may or may not be around after a certain age. the cheapest way to watch sports for free is at a pub ir listen via the radio as bbc removed our rights to watch sports for free. now its all on subscriptions which dont help cost of living crisis. its 50/50 imho. neither entertainmrnt is cheap and its so fckn ridiculous how much we have to pay just to enjoy something

So, even though kpop is being marketed aggressively in the west more people listen to Japanese and French music than Korean music in the US. Proves kpop does not have many unique listeners. Its just the same people streaming the songs again and again.
France is part of of the west, it has nothing to prove. That number of people listening to French music is significantly higher in Canada and Europe. There are quite a few huge international French hits that everyone knows from recent years. The number of kpop listerner is also significantly lower in Europe than the US where there are big Asian diasporas whereas Arabic music for e.g. would definitely be bigger in Europe. In other words kpop as whole is very niche in the west and caters mostly to young teens. KPOP’s biggest market is not even SK, China or Japan it is SE Asia the biggest conumer of anything ”korean”. Apparently the faze is slowing down there too, that is why they are becoming desperate.

Now Kpop has been copying western pop culture since the beginning, especially black American culture in many respects. Combine Japanese idol system with the boy and girls bands from the nineties with a korean spin to understand kpop. What exactly has been new or innovative about kpop in terms of music and dance, the music style isn’t even theirs to begin with. Compare this to Afrobeats which has taken over, music style imported from Africa and now widely consumed not only in the West but worldwide.

Now these kpop companies buy their songs as well, e.g. the Cupid song which blew up was written by 3 unknown Swedes, who in turn have plagiarized it from another song. Girl and boybands are as old as ever, nothing new about them. Unfortunately some girl groups in Hollyweird were created for the sole purpose of being pimped around. I hope this is not the case for these ones. Western celebrities need scandals and relationships to stay relevant, pretending to be model citizens or staying single for the fans som has not a been a thing really. The one thing that Kpop and jpop do differently is toxic fan culture. They take parasocial relationships and delusions to the next level to sell.

Not only kpop, k-drama also copied heavily from Japanese dramas at least in the early phase of the Hallyu Wave. A lot of famous K-dramas from the 2000s were remakes of J-dramas, Mangas and other Asian dramas. Nowadays, most K-dramas are adapted from webtoons which are also a heavily influenced by Japan's Mangas.
Koreans really have a habit of stealing from other cultures.

K-POP REMAKES OF ENGLISH POP SONGS! - YouTube
I have really lost respect for SK. Everything about KPOP(and to some extent K-drama) is stolen from other countries. They stole the idol system from Japan. The Fashion, Hip-Hop culture and choreographies were stolen from Black American culture and most music is either produced by western producers or straight up Korean language remix of western songs. How can KPOP stans and Koreans in general cry about Grammys snubbing their artists when most of their artists are not even making their own music?? Sh1nee, SNSD, Red Velvet and Ex0 are some of the groups kpop stans claim have the best discography but most of these groups' hit songs are just remakes of western songs. Hyb3 groups are the most popular right now and they are also following $M's foot steps by hiring American producers and lyricists for their songs. There is nothing Korean about kpop except for the language and the ethnicity of group members but now more and more companies are debuting groups with non-Korean idols and soon that difference will vanish too.

I think the only reason Kpop was allowed to become so popular globally was because of its derivative nature. The same producers and choreographers who dominated western pop moved to SK to earn some more money.

Oh yeah, i used to read a lot of manga and watch anime and even tried some webtoons. The quality between good manga and webtoons is still quite big although webtoons can be enjoyable. There are lot of korean dramas on streaming services nowadays. I notice a lot of repetitive plots in both their webtoons and their dramas. Unrealistic romance with a very rich handsome dude that somehow is still a virgin and some random girl. It gets old and the plot quickly loses its charm after you’ve seen enough. In addition, .a lot of manga and especially korean webtoons are heavily inspired by European rennaisance and
Victorian culture. I don’t know how many times anime has appropriated Christianity and gotten away with it. Now if it were the other way around, the mob would be screaming at the top of their lungs.

There are a few good kdramas and movies out there, i give credit where it is due, ones from more introspective and talented writers. The Glory and Squid Game for example although overhyped were original stories that talked about their societal problems without sugarcoating it. Hollyweird used to produce some quality stuff in the past (along with the trash) such as the old Simpsons. Lately been tanking for the most part. Remakes where they race and gender swap characters to just to be woke. How many times do they plan on releasing and the 100th remake of Spider Man ijbol. Thank god there is more space for work from other parts of the world including Britain, Europe, Asia latin America etc. But overall it seems that many have ran out of original ideas or they are delibrately putting out trash and shallow work for quick profit ( and keeping the masses dumb).

The first K-drama I watched was IRIS. That show was a crime, thriller and the plot was really good but it never became as popular as these other rom-com shows. A lot of Korean shows that became popular globally were influenced by Japanese Manga and western dramas. That's why it irritates me when Koreaboos pretend like Korea is the greatest country in the world. Their pop culture is very derivative and shallow.

As someone, who was into Anime during my teenage years I have tried to get into webtoons quite a few times but I can't because most webtoons, even the famous ones, are not that good compared to Mangas. I dislike the Japanese because of their colonial past and their government but I have to admit they have more originality than Koreans.
