What happened to his face? This is Sh1nee's On3w. Is this what these idols look like without the makeup and editing?? Even though I have followed this group in the past I could not recognize him in these pics without makeup.
Onew is looking different in his recent pictures and videos without makeup and editing. But recognizable.

Although in his recent pictures and videos, he looks much better now in terms of health and he has also gained weight, which is a good thing.

They are ending Blue Night. This show was very important part of J0nghyun's life. He wrote Story op1 and 2 after being inspired by the stories of his listeners. Slowly, they are erasing his memory.
When something has a beginning, it also has an end. So sooner or later Blue Night radio show also had to end but Jonghyun was a important part of that radio show and that radio show meant a lot to him. That's why it is natural to feel bad and raise questions about the end of the show. I too felt bad when the radio show ended. But he left that show in 2017 and the radio show had nothing to do with Jonghyun since 6 years, so ending that radio show was nothing like erasing his memories. At least not in this.

part of the fabrication of the idols image, sad thing is people do assume that reaction videos are genuine and unrehearsed.
Most of these videos are rehearsed. Even when they are not rehearsed the reactors sugarcoat their words because most of them are worried they would get canceled for not liking a group or song. Reaction channels are easily one of the worst and most useless form of YouTube content being created today.

I felt bad because Sh1nee aren't doing anything meaningful to keep his name alive and as time passes people will eventually forget about him.

They have performed SHINee5's songs at MMA, including their song "Hard".

View attachment 97567

Their performance was to be held in December, so SHINee5's drama was bound to happen there to garner attention and sympathy, lol.
It was awful. They lipsynced to all songs except Hard and even in Hard the final high note by K3y sounded strained.

i have always said or thought that some celebs or a lot of them are worth more dead than alive, watch them do mathew perry next or a life documentary on his career if not a biopic lol. i think some celebs can be depressed from their jobs and that then gives the ent industry reason to continue to profit off their passing. but celebs also sought after fame and wealth or they are born into it from thier ultra rich families. depends how much you believe they were poor once before making it big in the ent industry narratives

So, even though kpop is being marketed aggressively in the west more people listen to Japanese and French music than Korean music in the US. Proves kpop does not have many unique listeners. Its just the same people streaming the songs again and again.
tis because they ran koreans bank accounts dry and there was nothing new being released in usa and uk music charts, no one direction no beatles no elvis no michael jackson so what else would they have? foriegn music groupsnwere the next "big" thing.

do ppl still think its coincidence that kpoop has taken over the west? idols should be less diva like but if anything i think its giving the idols inflated egos. i remember the sentence that bts paved the way but there were still acts before them that did it, i just dont think its coincidence that of all "genres" it was kpoop.

Part of it is normal market forces. South Korea heavily subsidizes the Culture industry. But Gangnam Style becoming a worldwide hit wasn't an accident.

In 1990, the Korean National Assembly granted a broadcasting license to the regional Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS), becoming the first private television station since the forced nationalization of private broadcasters in 1980.[26] In December 1991, the National Assembly passed the Cable Television Act which directed the Ministry of Information to provide permits to twenty prospective cable television program providers.[26] The providers were selected in August 1993, and cable television services began in March, 1995.[26] With the liberalization of the South Korean television market, a greater number of Korean programs started to be exported abroad.[32] These media exports were first exported to China, after the two countries formally established diplomatic relations in 1992.[33]

The 1997 Asian financial crisis led broadcasters throughout East Asia to seek cheaper programs as an alternative to the expensive, but popular broadcasts from Japan.[28] In 2000, K-dramas were a quarter of the price of Japanese television programs and a tenth of the price of Hong Kong television programs.[32] K-dramas first entered the Taiwanese market during the early 1990s, but the shift to Korean television programming following the financial crisis and the successful airing of Fireworks (2000) and Autumn in My Heart (2000) marked the start of the Korean Wave in the country.[38]

The 2003 historical K-drama Jewel in the Palace has been credited for having the greatest impact on the popularity of Korean television programs in Chinese-speaking countries, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and China.[39] In May 2005, the show's final episode became the highest-rated television episode in Hong Kong history at more than 40 percent.[37] In the years following its release, the program was exported to over 80 countries around the world.[31]: 11  At the same time, the 2003–2004 airing of the romance K-drama Winter Sonata in Japan marked the entrance of the Korean Wave to Japan.[40]

In the Indian state of Manipur, Hindi-language movies and television channels were banned in 2000 by insurgents, leading broadcasters to use Korean programming as substitutes.[46] Korean dramas and films were also commonly smuggled into the region in the form of CDs and DVDs.[47]

By the late 2000s, K-dramas became part of the daily programming of local television channels across East Asia[48] and in China, Korean programs made up more than all other foreign programming combined.[45]: 2  During the period between 1997 and 2007, television exports from South Korea would increase from $8.3 million to $151 million, mostly to other Asian markets.[49]

The mid-2000s marked the expansion of the Korean Wave outside of East Asia into other parts of Asia, while the mid-2010s marked the Korean Wave's expansion outside of Asia into Europe, the Americas, and Africa.[74]: 4 [75] During this period, social media and platforms like YouTube, Netflix, and Webtoon played a key role in the dissemination of South Korean popular culture.[76][77]

In the United States, the Korean Wave spread outwards from Korean-American communities, most notably in New York City and Los Angeles.[80]

Now the US is attempting to replicate the success of South Korea. Geffen Records teamed up with HYBE. JYP I think teamed up with Warner Music. However I think they will have trouble, because as we've seen so far theres a culture clash. In Asia, Celebrities are expected to be model citizens, as people will try to emulate them. Theres also the work and discipline culture. And the more conservative values. Like say late 90's early 2000's America/UK had in media at the time.

I think theres going to be a problem.

i have always found that groups who seek fame and wealth in america their music takes a nosedive and honestly dips in quality and its more of just an other bandwagon that tweens and young adults are once again expected to lap up. korea pretend its conservative but the you look at the way idol groups dress and they cant fool me to assume that kpop is innocent or pure as it wanta to seem lol. literally every other group i used to like either came from uk went to america and became an utter overhyped garbage filled bandwagon then their hype fizzled out and i almsot forgot i used to like those groups lmao

South Korea is unofficially a US colony. Like the Philippines. Or Japan. It's loaded with US military bases. So South Korea is at the edge of Eastern Conservatism brushing against US progressivism. Theres lots of things that hit against the South Korean broadcast standards. But they are just people. So just like everywhere else in the world. There's always things happening under the surface.

hmmm interesting. i wonder what society wouldve turned out like if there werent rich people littered everywhere in every country. cant even buy a poprerty nowadays because 90% of the properties have gone up in prices because surprise surprise rich celebs have bought all the good ones. literally mansions up north cost more than what any normal person would ever be able to afford and its always in the most usual bog standard rich places like cheshire or hampstead. hows normal korean folk gonna afford much if all the rich celebs get all their apartments just bc theyre from wealthy families?

there isnt much posted on these forums about say footballing industry or athletes besides the ones that have passed on. seems to mostly be generic overhyped entertainers that always get the spotlight in terms of discussions. seems like all the industries are equally as fabricated as the next and it cost a fortune just to enjoy or invest in any aspect of it be it concerts, travel to and from venues and or staying overngiht somewhere to go and visit museums of those popular figures in entertainment its all fucking expensive

Sh1nee were being applauded in SK and kpop twitter yesterday for singing 1 song from their set live. I can't believe K-pop has become so shallow that so-called singers are now being applauded for "singing" live. American music is bad but at least artists sing live most of the time.
