Yes its like having too much sugar and it becomes nasty after a while, specially when you see the Korean society is general as its how 180 degrees apart and quite depressing honestly.
The fantasy and then the reality. Like eating a ton of sugary snacks. Later there's stomach aches, regret, depression, and no energy. Kpop and kdramas are a dream, and the reality is dystopian. I wouldn't be Korean, Japanese, or Chinese if you paid me. Most countries are going through the same struggles. Even America has a version of this misery. I feel bad for future generations.

I haven't seen a normal fandom older than a few months. There's also toxic fans for trainee groups and idols shows.
It has become the "norm" in this twisted world of pop culture...no wonder there are many who are suffering from mental health issues...and the worse part is...these fans believe they get the "healing" from the music and personas of these "stars"... without realizing that these people are also terribly ill...

"BTS' V says he thought of hurting himself to rest for a day amid hectic schedule: ‘Started to compare myself to others’..."
(Context: 2018)

"...So I guess we can’t rest...and all this negativity piled up inside me. I didn’t think I could do anything in that state so I kept thinking of ways I could rest. I even thought I should get hurt. If I get hurt, would I be able to rest? So, I thought I should get hurt. But now I want to change that me of the past..."

This , I was thinking why someone hasn't brought it up yet. I also saw that clip 2 days ago, and the reaction on Suga's face was very uncomfortable. Sometimes, I feel Suga's face gives out, and he falls out of this pretense stuff. He is visibly not close with Tae and Jk. More so with Tae. Though there are a lot of ships on YouTube, it's either he acts silly which is easy coz everyone will think he is goofy, or he stays numb.
I also think they are allowed to talk on certain topics, and they repeat only those. Like the text message moment between them in 2018, the mandu fight, the copy thing, how they cried in 2018 at an awards show(which is so sus, they were balling their eyes out), etc. Its like there were not any other moments between them.
Tae also acts like Suga, either very silly, flirty funny or insufferable quiet. I notice these two when I watch run bts or bangtan bomb. They both slip out of their personas easily.
On the other hand, J-hope never went out of character, followed closely by Jin and Jimin. These 3 stick to their character profiles to the T.
RM is cleverly himself and also not. He pushes ideas to the viewers. Like he will continuously praise Jimin being the nicest guy, or JK being superhuman. These are not fan's words, he subtly feeds these things while filming these shows. Jk just follows lead, and does what the older members do or stay quiet.

Showing their "vulnerable" sides to the public is very "appealing" especially to their fans...who are already "programmed to empathize" with them...and H*be knows this too well... For as long as they "stay in character" and never impute any blame on the part of their agency...they can appear "open and transparent..." Notice how in their personal "narratives" they often end up "blaming themselves..."

I realised it later on they were riding on empathy. It always bugged me how they became big. Their reality shows were all to build up their character, and praise their company. The way Suga said it was his fault that he continued with a broken shoulder in early days, and it was Jimin's fault for being insecure with his body.
They never put blame on the company.
But I guess fans are catching on the mistreatment by Hybe, and they show their support by purchasing more albums/goods to make their artist happy.

What their fans don't realize is that, the support they thought they're giving them by purchasing more albums and/or merch...is not really benefitting them much... A very large percentage of the income goes to H*be... so, the truth is, they are being used as an "income machine" by the company... Their "parasocial relationship" with these men, has become like an "oil to keep the machine going..."

So he disappointed again. Sigh
No comments
They guy is gone.
He is so "leSbiAn cOdeD" afterall.
I thought these latest photos of him were so weird. There's this one, and then the one of him in a suit looking manly. I barely recognize him in this punk themed get-up. The hair is okay I guess, but what really makes this outfit crappy is the plaid whatever-it-is around his waist. Get rid of that. It's hiding a nice pair of jeans, and it's also hiding his legs. He'd look way more attractive without the weirdo skirt thing.

It's very bland with almost no creativity. The singers don't sing, and the dancers barely dance anymore. Fans praise idols for minimum effort and bully people who don't believe the same. Any criticism is seen as a personal attack.
You don't have to like how the industry operates, but you have no right to demand they "learn English" just to speak to you. You're not even going to get a chance to speak to them in the first place so idk what you're complaining about. Not everything revolves around the States and the English-only speakers. They have subtitles for video content anyway.

And say I'm German. Should they learn German too? My friend is Spanish. Are they expected to learn Spanish as well? Another friend of mine is in Thailand. Oh no, they don't speak Thai either. I hope you get where I'm going with this. It's too entitled and arrogant of Americans to expect foreigners to learn English for them. They are not migrating here. They are touring.

No that's not entitlement. Thats bare minimum when they have so many international fans.

I've noticed you are on my ignore button lol. Don't remember why but probably you earned it. ;)
Oh no, how can I sleep at night being on your "ignore button". And they have subtitles. It's a you problem if you're too damn lazy to read. No one is obligated to learn a language for you. :)

People act like wanting someone to learn English for communication purposes is offensive. No one is saying don't be or speak Korean.

When we go to a foreign country we have to learn the native language. So there ya go.
When we go to a foreign country as tourists we are not expected to learn the native language. If you're moving there, then sure. It makes sense to learn the local language to integrate smoothly. K-pop idols are not migrating here. They are touring. They have busy schedules are work really hard on vocals, choreo etc. Whether you like them or not is a separate issue. But they do not have to learn English. You get subtitles. That should be sufficient. And if they speak a little English, it's a bonus.

Broken logic indeed. I have no idea what point, if any, this person is trying to make.

When someone is working internationally, and communicating with a large audience, the logical thing to do is to pick up English. English is basically a universal language, and it does make communication easier.

Here's what I think is super interesting: So far, of all the members, the announcement of his service is the only one that's contained warnings about intellectual property and trying to make money off of using his name. I don't know what this means, if anything.

Germany is no longer the center of the world and Thailand never was. The group I listen to learned Thai to communicate with fans. Why would I listen to a group I can't understand? What do we have in common? They're only touring here to manipulate and exploit Americans for dollars. Pass. It's not entitlement when the country with the most English speakers is India. Along with Chinese, Spanish, and French, English is a global language that's the primary language in multiple countries. If you want to sell me something, be able to speak to me. I don't appreciate someone who won't bother to learn my language trying to exploit me.

If I went to Korea to sell something or have a concert, I would learn Korean. At least learn a bare minimum. It's been a decade and most of them can't get past hi, I love you, Armyyyyyy, and bye.

The united states isn't the center of the world either, though they certainly think they are. Again, you have subtitles. At concerts during the ments they have a translator who translates right after they say their part in Korean. They often do try to say a few words in English too. I don't understand how you think you're being "exploited" just because they don't speak English. You're not being forced to spend money on them anyway. This entitlement of "speak English!" is just too obnoxious however. Do you want them to sing their songs in English too? After all, you "can't understand what they're saying when they sing in Korean". You do realize this is K-pop right?
