Thank you for sharing some of your background @Daze - I won’t press on the “Jesus is God” debate, but there was an incident in the OT that has frequently come to mind. Make of it what you will…I will argue music is satanic, not because it blatantly is today with songs like WAP by Cardi B. But mainly because i know it was frowned on when the last prophet walked.
The prophet (saw) said : "From among my followers some people will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. - Sahih al-Bukhari 5590
This hadith is an end times sign, in that Muslims would begin to listen to music... If fornication and music are given in the same example, its enough for me to try to avoid it.
I get that music can seem innocent but when you take a song like twinkle twinkle little star and play it backwards only to hear is say "i wish there was no god" you really need to take a step back and try to see the big picture.
Islamic scholars say music and the Quran can not exist in the same heart. One will always try to force the other out and its important for Muslims to memorize their book. I have to agree with this sentiment. As a Muslim it is really best to avoid music entirely.
My dad thought Jesus was god if memory serves. I'm not 100% on this as he passed on 28 years ago, but i think he did. I know my aunt (his sister) does because we fight alot. She hates that I'm Muslim. Like most brainwashed Americans, she is certain I'm going to hell. But i see what they don't see.
One of my brothers believes in the trinity.. i forget the sects name. Pentecostal maybe, but its one of those churches that speak in tongues, which to me is demonic. But i don't think i personally ever did see Jesus as divine. While i disagree with my brother on Jesus status, he raised his kids right by not allowing a tv in the home. Imagine being 30 years old (his kids) and never seen a tv show. Kinda like being Amish, isn't it?
My oldest brother is a Unitarian, my oldest sister is Unitarian, but she's not really religious. 2 of my other sisters are Muslim and the last sister is a JW like my mother. 2 brothers, 4 sisters. Diverse beliefs i guess you can say.
To me Jesus has always been like prophet Moses parting the red sea or Solomon talking with the birds. Jesus resurrected the dead because God gave him the powers to do so. Jesus tells us in the Bible he can do nothing on his own (John 5:30).
Personally i think if you worship anything but God, hell is pretty much guaranteed.
It is the first commandment in Christianity and the worst sin in Islam. Literally in Islam setting up partners with God (in Gods eyes) is worse then being a rapist, a murderer, a pdf file and so on. When you stop and think about it.. rightly so. Everything we had, have and ever will have comes from God. How ignorant is it to thank another for his blessings?
I often say this but its the truth. Those God guides can not fall astray, while those he leaves behind have no hope.
It is God who guides, it is God who made me Muslim.
God willing i will die as a Muslim.
Judges 13
13 And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.
14 She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.
15 And Manoah said unto the angel of the Lord, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.
16 And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the Lord. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the Lord.
17 And Manoah said unto the angel of the Lord, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
18 And the angel of the Lord said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?
19 So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the Lord: and the angel did wonderously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
20 For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
21 But the angel of the Lord did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the Lord.
22 And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.
23 But his wife said unto him, If the Lord were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these.
