I could post up so many songs that are godly and wholesome, but because music is haram, would you be able to listen to them to find out?!
You forget Red, i was a Christian for over 30 years and listened to music daily. There is a 90% chance if a song from the 70's-90's plays on the radio i can tell you the title and artist.

Music literally was a part of my life and it was also my calling to Islam. The Almighty himself showed me how evil it is. Linked is a long doc but it is eye opening.

Even soon after my reversion i listened to music because it was just a part of who i was. One day working with a Muslim i was playing this song on my phone.

The song is basically about a guy losing it because his girl left him yet the Muslim i was with pointed out how the song was encouraging people to lie. I can imagine you find this song "wholesome" Red. I know i used to before the truth came to me.

You probably never looked into it but music was a tool used by the devil when mankind first fornicated over a millennia ago.

So many things are wrong with music, it is literally used to control you. Why don't you look up binaural beats?

Why do you think they play music when you go shopping? Pretty hard to go to a bathroom in the US and not hear it being pumped in through the stalls.

Why do you not comment on "twinkle twinkle little star" played backwards saying "i wish there was no God" ?
What? Its a song for children, of course it is wholesome!

Music is evil, no doubt.. but we've been on different paths for a long time. Haven't we Red?

I agree that much of what passes as popular music is evil. What I cannot reconcile is the idea that music itself is evil.

If you can show me the evil on this song, I will be most surprised…

Did you miss the part where i mentioned back masking? You don't even know whats in that song you linked, but your sub-conscious does and it affects you.

If twinkle twinkle little star has a satanic message hidden in it then how is anything safe?

As i mentioned above, music was first introduced by the devil and mankind committed fornication for the first time because of it. Why don't you research this? You might learn something.

Ever notice how when music plays at a wedding or bar or w/e women are just compelled to dance? I wonder why that is?

In Jesus name!

I think we are confusing dhikr (remembrance / praises) with nasheeds (songs / hymns)

For example Hallelujah is a basic praise. Saying this over and over again repeatedly in what way makes a song? It's not really "music", is it?

I think this would count as a song - I actually became a Christian listening to this track!

Paul tells us to make 'melody' to The Lord.

What about the 'song of moses' in Deuteronomy?

I don't think an actual song or hymn is much diff than music. David was always singing to God.

Sometimes what people think they know can blind them to what is really going on.

My introduction to the topics on VC was finding out that Jonas Ackerlund was involved with making music videos for a number of well known chart songs. I had come across him before….

Åkerlund was a member of the Swedish black metal band Bathory from 1983 to 1984, before their career took off. A friend of mine had been into them prior to becoming a Christian. If someone could find a more openly satanic band out there, I would be surprised!

The video below gives an idea of the sort of content they

As a person seemingly dedicated to spreading evil by every means possible, it appears that he went on to use the long form pop video aimed at mass consumption as his tool to promote the message, this time using the innocuous radio approved songs that people sing along to without thinking.

People who would have never listened to Bathory were watching Luciferian propaganda on their iPhones.

  • "Here Comes the Change" for Kesha

2019

I can remember going to a meeting warning about the evil being promoted through the music industry back in the 80s. Just as a magician waves this hand to gain attention, whilst performing the subterfuge with his other hand, by keeping the focus of outrage on the obvious evils of Black Metal bands and other blatant satanic material, well-meaning people were missing the subtle incursion of the “other gods” that eventually became promoted everywhere they looked.
This wraps up so many loose ends for me.

Much like your friend, i unfortunately used to listen to that kind of stuff as a teenager. I moved away from it during my new age phase before becoming a Christian, and went on to the more mass produced stuff. Other people approved of the change, of course, not seeing that in a way it is one and the same.

I don't know if God was with me during that phase of my life, but i will say that at some point, still before my conversion, i started getting uneasy about the pop stuff too. It helped that i had already started researching conspiracies.

Is this true? My daughter loves this song :(

Ok, i know practically nothing about the way recorded music is made and such. Here's my question: is backmasking something that happens because of the way the words are arranged or spaced out when played normally, or is it an "extra layer" that is added on at the recording studio?

I suspect the “all music is bad” angle is based on being a good Muslim rather than an awareness of the spectrum of actual music available.

I am always suspicious of blanket generalisations. Not all Republicans wear MAGA hats, not all Democrats drive electric scooters and drink non-fat lattes and not all Muslims are Jihadis. Discernment is a gift we should exercise.

It’s amazing the journey that we can take. I’m sure when we look back at this life we will see the prayers of others for us while we looked lost and hopeless to outside observers!

@Daze the prophet SAW had elevated muslims into a state of ISLAM, from jahilliya. hence for them, music being haraam made sense, because music ignites the fire of passion, an aspect of our carnal nature.
in the stateo f islam, that carnal nature is defeated and brought under control...so it makes no sense that a true muslim would even need music.

@Red Sky at Morning and if the state of islam means controlling the nafs...then christianity and the cross means MURDERING THE NAFS. it means, it's death. the end of the serpent.
so there would be no 'fire' left, no craving, no more duality, but a state of totality of conosciousness that we call IHSAN, the highest level of faith.
i had this back and forth with an angry indian christian guy once...and it started when he was boasting about his love for pork eg 'mmmm bacon' (like look at these poor muzzies'.
he also got mad and called me a half cock after i told him 'you are what you eat'.
i tried to explain that if the serpent is dead ie 'died with christ' then why is he a glutton for bacon? why is he a lump of lard?

basically it's like this
if you're a christian and Jesus is in your heart...if he's just a passing thought, then nothing. if you love him...your heart will reflect his light...
you become an extention of Jesus.
'i am in you and you are in me'
the christians in the time of prophet Mohammad, were known to be monastic people.

I.e.John 10?

Its just an example, you can find alot of songs online being played backwards. Thing is, if the message being sent is good, why is their a need to hide it?

Back masking became big in the 70's, mainly pushed by Alister Crowley, where he preached to do everything backwards, Speak, write, ect. I imagine you know this dude, he's was a pretty evil guy.

Interestingly enough he was (is) very influential amongst alot of bands. Famous bands like the Beetles, Ozzy Osborne, ect. Today back masking is pretty much put into everything. Its very easy to play a song backwards. Go find your favorite and see whats hidden in it.

As I've mentioned to Red several times satan himself introduced musical instruments to mankind and this was literally when fornication began. You have to go way back, we're talking about the sons of Adam when this event occurred.

It is easy enough to look up, not like its esoteric or anything. But it doesn't benefit the powers that be so its not advertised either. You'd be surprised how much Google has hidden from the net the past 20 years.

Just look at what music does today. Sets your mood, can make you happy, sad, suicidal, depressed. Not common knowledge that soldiers in the Afghan war would play heavy metal loudly when they went around slaughtering women and children. Why is this? Because music ha an affect on the mind.

The powers that be know how to chain the beats (frequencies / hertz) for whatever effect they want out of it. So yes, Unlike Red..
I am always suspicious of blanket generalisations.
I suggest all music be completely avoided. It has a dark history and clearly a dark present.

But most don't look into it. Its just a "poppy tune"... Like this example by Rhianna. The artist made famous for her song Umbrella ( which literally repeats over and over... "no God").

Yes.. Only girl in the world!! Poppy! and fun. Just ignore the fact that she's an open satanist.

Why does it seem like only Muslims are willing to acknowledge this?

Is that ignited desire a good thing? I'd say no because its seldom directed to ones spouse.

Add in intoxication, say a wedding, concert, bar.. anywhere people drink and its a dangerous mixture. We all know what happens in nightclubs. It is the devil's playground and there is not a single nightclub on the planet that doesn't play music.

Just as alcohol is not limited to a glass of wine with a good meal, music is not limited to edifying, godly songs.

I have mentioned this elsewhere but it is worth saying here - solicitors employ precise thought and language and often use the phrase “including but not limited to”.

Applied to music, this qualification allows for discernment.

That having been said, I have no interest in getting Muslims to enjoy music. For the purpose of this thread, my interest is in exploring how many of the modern societal traits reflect back to the ancient gods.

I know Muslims are against idolatry and these modern cultural idols are the dark trinity of the modern pagan pantheon.

[edit] - I would add to this that regardless of whether, like @AspiringSoul these “gods” are mere thoughtforms or if you believe there are either satanic or demonic forces behind them, the exposing and casting down of these cultural idols is something both Muslims and Christians can agree upon?

It was the greatness of the God, not the weakness of the gods that pushed back their dominion in the ancient world.

Luke 11:21

“When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe. But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armour in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.”

In this parable, the Strong Man may represent these “gods”. There is One stronger than these pretenders though, and in Him we have what we need to comprehend, expose and defeat the false gods of this present age, and to free those in their grip.

When I spoke fo the fire of passion I wasn't talking about sexual desire itself, but sexual desire is an aspect of hawa. Think of hawa as an extention of the nafs either you control the nafs or the nafs controls you.

There are 3 states..
Islam, hawa/passion and jahilliya
Just as in hinduism there are 3 gunas, Sattva, rajas and tamas.

some verses on hawa/passion

O ye who believe! Be ye staunch in justice, witnesses for Allah, even though it be against yourselves or (your) parents or (your) kindred, whether (the case be of) a rich man or a poor man, for Allah is nearer unto both (them ye are). So follow not passion lest ye lapse (from truth) and if ye lapse or fall away, then lo! Allah is ever Informed of what ye do.
(سورة النساء, An-Nisaa, Chapter #4, Verse #135)

135. Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo koonoo qawwameena bialqisti shuhadaa lillahi walaw AAala anfusikum awi alwalidayni waalaqrabeena in yakun ghaniyyan aw faqeeran faAllahu awla bihima fala tattabiAAoo alhawa an taAAdiloo wain talwoo aw tuAAridoo fainna Allaha kana bima taAAmaloona khabeeran

) Seest thou such a one as taketh for his god his own passion? Couldst thou be a disposer of affairs for him?
(سورة الفرقان, Al-Furqaan, Chapter #25, Verse #43)
43. Araayta mani ittakhatha ilahahu hawahu afaanta takoonu AAalayhi wakeelan

Again this is necessary to understand that the prophet SAW had already elevated those muslims to the state of islam. So this is coming from that vantage point where that muslim community was high above in the state of islam. In that state they were given laws as a means of protection against them falling into the state of hawa and all that comes from it.
so when you say 'music is haram', we've long fallen from the state of islam and are close to jahilliya already.

reads Romans 1
the same states..

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

the bhagvad gita also speaks of these states in the collective sense...just like islam speaks of 'the state of jahilliya' in the collective sense. The idea is that a civilisation in hawa, becomes industrious. they have a lot of earthly goals..like how western civilisation used to be. Then they fall further away until we reach this point today.
it is only Romans 1 that directly associated homosexuality as the key characteristic of jahilliya. but we're long past that.

it's like living in a damp house and tearing out parts of the wall with mold spores. it won't stop the problem.
basically my point is that music is the least of our problems these days. our generation didnt fal by listening to music. the fact we were so drawn to music was because we needed the dopamine rush to feel better. idk about you, but my upbringing was a load of buried emotional pain and stress. when you're a kid, you don't realise how much it'll affect you long term. i had a lot of personal anguish going on despite appearing very happy and loud. i used to like being alone when i was suffering and 30 years on, im the same. any sort of argument, im shutting the world off and just want to be left alone.
wht really happens is people's dopamine receptors are blunted (for lack of a better term) due to all the stress hormones in them from an early age. they seek out dopamine just to find an equilibrium. tell them 'music is haram' and they'll be seeking that dopamine hit elsewhere...

i knew this shit wheni was young though. i used to look at some of the girls on my street with strict dads and think 'this dumb fuck is going to turn that girl into an future slag'
it came true in most cases. those girls ditched as soon as they found that dopamine hit from male attention of the worst kind.

is it fair to say islam did that? id say so. id say that the law/islam did further damage because it was forced on a people who werent equipped for it. furthermore you know pakistan is a product of pseudo islamic revivalism? for centuries and centuries islam was dead and people lived with their cultural backwardness. once islamic revivalism came and you had an entire generation (my fathers generation) pumped full of 7th century islam, it led to that generation being fucked up. my dad was brutally violent but it was nothing compared to what he went through. all because his father was a generation that oversaw the creation of an islamic state and pushed islam hard on theit kids. it was constant pressure to memorise verses, to know every aspect of islamic history, fiqh etc. by the time my dad was 14 he;d knocked out his dad, gotten into fights and put in an old school british borstal suffering racist abuse and fighting his corner. by the end of it all he was militant AF himself and a stressed out individual. my generation had music, tv and gaming to help pass the time.

@Red Sky at Morning like ive said...christianity is about the complete death of the flesh and hence zero passion...so if you're enjoying music, even wholesome music, not to say you're evil or wrong, but it means your carnal nature and the passion that drives it...are very much alive.
Which pretty much means you arent born again and one with Christ in heart and spirit.

John 10
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

That would apply to the jews who believed in and followed Jesus right through tot he Luke 21 instruction to 'flee to the mountains' if they even survived the persecution. they were either martyrs directly or they had become the remnant.

Paul always spoke of the law as if it was DEAD. like 'the old is done'.
Hebrews 8
7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. 8 But God found fault with the people and said[b]:
“The days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
9 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
and I turned away from them,
declares the Lord.
10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
11 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
12 For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”[c]
13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

he spoke of the circumcision as a dead symbol because it had no actual effect in people and therefore as a dead symbol, something to be discarded.
