How Do You Get Sins Erased From Your Record?

So then the difference would be that you would be able to confess in both cases. So in the first case, you would repent of the sin of knowing that you found an excuse to sin by thinking you could ask for forgiveness afterward.

The difference is that your intention after you sin has to be genuine. You can't really just sin and think ok I'm going to repent extra hard tonight and then do it all again. God wants us to believe in ourselves as much as he believes in us so the Islamic belief is to achieve a state where you abstain from sin as much as you can. The higher your faith in God the more you abstain from serious sins. Of course we're prone to general sins hence why we are always asked to repent and ponder on our actions, in order to learn and become better people.

Deeds are weighed on scales on judgement day. A scale for the good deeds and a scale for the bad. Islam is about achieving that balance and making sure you have some enough good to outweigh the bad. We are also encouraged to repent often because God may just have mercy on us even if we were bad people.

That is literally the concept of Purgatory, the Catholics who believe but their bad deeds outweigh their good deeds go into Purgatory to burn off the bad deeds so they can enter into Heaven...

Definition of purgatory

plural
purgatories
  1. 1: an intermediate state after death for expiatory purification; specifically : a place or state of punishment wherein according to Roman Catholic doctrine the souls of those who die in God's grace may make satisfaction for past sins and so become fit for heaven
Listen, there is no place that people wait. You either go hell or heaven. Stop trying to redefine things you have no knowledge of.

Regarding:
(The)" notion of "purgatory" -- another worldly place between heaven and hell which appeared in Western Christian literature around the middle of the 12th century CE. [See on this "The Birth of Purgatory" (La Naissance du Purgatoire) by the eminent French medievalist Jacques Le Goff whose classes I was honored to attend while at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris.]
" As a means of recording the passage of time, the 12th century is the period from 1101 to 1200 in accordance with the Julian calendar in the Common Era."
Please note Waraqa lived before that time....

Also:
The Creator is not a bad cop to prophet Jesus's good cop as explained in the video I posted above on heaven and Hell in Islam:
You can access the Creator's compassion and forgiveness without the blood sacrifice of Prophet Isa or a 'son'.

"Allah's will and His attributes are not arbitrary as explained before. His justice is such that no one will be wronged unjustly on the Day of Judgment (Surah 42:18). His Grace, love and forgiveness will be showered on the Day of Judgment upon those who showed to be the recipient of His Grace. People will go to Hell due to His Justice and to heaven by His Grace. Allah has described, unlike being anything arbitrary, that to receive His Grace, Mercy and forgiveness - one needs to follow the prophetic guidance and obey Him(Surah 3:31; 3:132). So if one has the correct faith in Allah and follows His will, now offered as Islam, and sincerely repents for his shortcomings/sins, Allah will surely forgive him (Surah 15:49; 40:2; 20:82)"

I'm so sick of you belittling me every time I contribute to a religious thread. English is my first language, there's no need to constantly talk down to me. I'm tired of your rude and confrontational approach to discussions and quite frankly I'm tired of reading your endless waffle

You'll be put on ignore and I'll be engaging in no further discussion with your venomous mouth

Pathetic excuse for a Christian

This provides freedom from oppression because we are not dependent on any system or government in this world to present a case against us in this regard. We have to follow the laws of the government. If the law says that there is a penalty for stealing. That's fine. We have to accept this penalty, but the same law cannot ever tell us that we can't be forgiven because of any action. This is not something any government or legal system has the authority to do because of the cross.
Well we follow laws of the government too and in Islam you have to abide by the laws of the country you abide in. The only issue is if a law makes you commit shirk you can't engage in. Say we had to worship our leaders and pray to them for example, you wouldn't be able to do that as you'd be leaving the fold of Islam. You can only pray to God not even Mohammed

Confession is the requirement to receive the gift of forgiveness.
I agree you have to confess before you're forgiven. The confession is an acknowledgment of the wrong you did. Some people aren't sincere though and may appear to have confessed and learnt from their sin, but they're hypocrites and continue to sin anyway whilst trying to maintain an outward religious persona

The doctrine that your works somehow contribute to your salvation, not just rewards as a Christian was most clearly articulated by Jacob Arminius.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arminianism

The counter view is Calvinism

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvinism

The view I posted up on my video clips earlier in the thread makes sense to me as it expresses the true elements of both without swinging to one camp or the other.

Sound like you have to repent all the time since you wouldn't be sure if a sin has been repented or not
Of course you have to repent all the time. And it's a pleasure doing so. The Greatest of all them favors is ultimately God's Forgiveness.

And the point is to stay in between hope, fear and trust in Him. We can never guarantee ourselves His Forgiveness. We can only hope.

Jesus being God can and did indeed die for all of your Sins
God Does Not Die nor Does He Ever Take birth. He Always Was, Always Is, and Always Will Be. He Changes Not In Any Way.

He Was Always The Source of Perfection. And there's no need to confess to Him since He Knows and Constantly Witnesses everything.

So salvation is guaranteed then?
Perhaps this well known passage will illustrate the points in the discussion well...

1 Corinthians 15

1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:6After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.9For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.10But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowedupon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.11Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

Grace means you don't deserve it!!!

Love and gratitude means that when you understand the implications of that grace, it becomes sheer joy to follow God's requirements as you know it brings him happiness for you to do so.

Yes, once you became a child of God, he can't just say he never knew you. If your kids became a monster, isn't he/she still your kid no matter what? Disobeying the Father will bring great consequences, so if you still love breathing then better not abuse His grace or license to sins like how you guys love saying. God allowed you to become his children and called him Father is the greatest achievement ever.

Just sitting here like.. neither religion makes any sense to me. Do you even know what you are worshiping? What kind of entity demands a blood sacrifice and biting the head off a child's penis, sucking the blood etc?? Do you not have a single suspicion about any of those stories??

What part of Islam doesn't make sense to you?

I can understand your confusion with Christianity and Judaims with their sucking of penises.
