You also get an idea of how things would be different if the political leadership was the opposition. Can't speak for Americans but Brits sure are reeling at the Tory handling of this outbreak and many are questioning what a labour government would do different...

Having said that, all political parties come with their issues so although I do believe a labour government would do more in the way of PPE and working conditions for key workers, they would probably be bickering and squabbling over inner party issues.

I just finished watching "Contagion" for the second time since I first saw it. One of the main points of the movie, other than pushing a vaccine was to combat the idea that it was a bioweapon, and suggest it naturally occurred.
I only watched the film for the first time last week.

The fact that it was aired last week on terrestrial TV here in the UK when we allegedly have thousands of grieving families coming to terms with the death of a loved one can only be seen as either dangerously insensitive or dangerously celebratory considering the current situation.

Within the film you hear the social distancing mantra being introduced, a term I'd never heard before, we see the face masks, we see the emergency government measures......we see the future. After watching the film I had mixed feelings, mainly incredulity and anger but also a sense of realisation that we are all getting played.

I know you don't see the 5G thing as a threat right now and you are refusing to link this bogeyman virus with 5G at all but I feel these two things are not as separate as you believe.

The 5G system is about control, the psycopaths pulling Trumps strings want total control.....total.

Another film which in time will turn out to be as prophetic as Contagion is a film called Kingsman, as coincidence would have it this film was also aired on tv here in the UK last week. I'd recommend you watch it. It will certainly help you understand how we are programmed for these events long before they happen.

Told you they weren’t protestors just trying to get back to work. They are terrorists.
For the record, I'm neither left or right. There's a reason it's called political "theater". I just wanted to point out the deception.

The first link is the guy holding his nazi flag with other Bernie supporters:

Here's dude holding the flag then walking back over to the group of Bernie supporters:

And here he is with his Bernie sign:

I think its a damm shame how Labour has gone.
First if all Blair with his pseudo Tory BS.
Then Corbyn, no weird agenda he won't support. Creepy as hell.
This new Kier thing is a QC, apparently. So, well bought into the establishment. But maybe he has some of the tradition Labour values.

They have to give me someone I can vote for. Or either I wont vote or I'll just waste it on something that wont win. Like the greens, (probably meaning, but pointless).

But I do rather like Boris.
I'd never vote Tory, of course, but If I had to go to the pub with a Prime Minister, I'd pick Boris, because he's funny.

So it was an anti Trump swastika?
That seems less shocking.

Anyone who genuinely stands behind a swastika should go watch the films of concentration camp victims until they realise what it stands for.

Ya, I agree with most of what you say...we don’t really know what is going on. I’ve been torn with what to believe too..but I go back to my experiences and I think it’s all been overblown and the only reason I can think of is because its an election year and the dems guy couldn’t beat trump. The answer has to have something to do with reality, I think.

I just don’t know if things will get so bad that the economy will collapse...I guess that might depend on how long people are out of work and if company’s are willing to work with people i.e. lowering the rent for a few months. We’ve never been in this position before, so I think all the doom and gloom could be real...just don’t know for sure.
Don't forget about the Census here in the US.

What has the census got to do with it?
We have one next year.
I have no idea why it was mentioned by previous poster but this can seriously screw up the census. A lot of people don’t fill out the self report forms (some just don’t, others can’t - no internet). Funding for states and localities are based on the census count. If people don’t respond and workers can’t go out.. then things are inaccurate and screwed up for the next ten years.

Ah! thank you to you both.

I was wondering if there had been suggestions that they would use the data collecting in some nefarious way.
Combine it with a digital id, or something like that, under the 'corona prevention' umbrella.

surprise surprise, the US knew of the outbreak back in November and alerted Israel and NATO, like I had long speculated. So how does blaming China for their "lies and coverup" work with this ? It doesn't. How is this a "deep state" attack to discredit Trump, when he knew of it back in November and warned their allies, and at the same time called the outbreak "a hoax"

https://www.timesofisrael.com/us-alerted-israel-nato-to-disease-outbreak-in-china-in-november-report/
So you at least agree it started in China?

I dont know how people believe such ridiculous tales that come out of an orange con man's mouth.

he and his sycophants even called it a "democratic hoax" as late as February while knowing of this back in November, these are some real sick psychopaths.

and they ran the "crimson contagion" drills back in August 2019

I still maintain this was a US released bio weapon, which has been around maybe much longer than we realize.

I just finished watching "Contagion" for the second time since I first saw it. One of the main points of the movie, other than pushing a vaccine was to combat the idea that it was a bioweapon, and suggest it naturally occurred.
Trump never called the coronavirus a hoax. Not once. It’s amazing how people take this MSM lie and repeat it over and over again.

Who do you think you help when you repeat lies?

Yh the demise of labour is sad, but expected given the in party beefing.

Hm, I think it takes more than being funny to run a country. I guess it's the same with Trump where their goofy demeanor is often seen as endearing when it's actually a mask for their damaging agendas and policies.

A politician with a clown mask is not what I'd want. Plus I don't drink so unfortunately won't be able to return a choice for that.

Hell regular press reports where coming out about this last year, sure China wasn’t being totally honest but we knew that there was a highly contagious and often deadly respiratory virus incoming. The US allowed infected travelers to the United States fly back with uninfected passengers. I can’t find that story now but it’s not made up, it was multiple sources, both mainstream and “alternative”. That was November or December of last year. I remember where I was when I read the reports.

No country to my knowledge did this but a just society would have alerted the public immediately, put forward a concrete plan to survive the necessary economic concerns t get through paid healthcare and testing, monthly stipends, rent freezes ( hell just do a jubilee) debt forgiveness and unemployment while immediately ordering industry to shift development to protective equipment for all essential workers and medical personnel, divert all scientific research funding to disease prevention and studying a cure. Get teams
ready to study the virus immediately and start working on a cure and or treatment. Be honest about the measures necessary to come with social distancing and announce a date. Give people time to prepare while you have it.

Things being 20/20 and all, that kind of response is unlikely in any existing system of governance, but it’s time to admit electing a mafia connected business man turned game show host turned President wasn’t a good idea.
So Trump should have shut the borders down last November? Two months before the media was even talking about the coronavirus? Two months before the WHO was saying there was nothing to worry about? A month before even Taiwan started restricting travel from Wuhan? When he did finally shut the border to China at the end of January, Trump was called a racist. I can only imagine what the reaction would have been had he actually done anything in November.

The Colonel: Trump wants to be a dictator!

Also the Colonel: Trump hasn’t been dictatorial enough!

Actually, my perspective is based on the draconian measures taking place as we speak.

Businesses are forced to close, many of those being small, family-owned businesses like restaurants, hair salons, feed stores, independent clothing stores, bakeries, and the entire service industry, etc...most of which function primarily as brick & mortar stores only, which means they can’t even look to transitioning to an online presence to stay open.

They will go bankrupt.

ALL their decades (if not generations) of hard work, sacrifice, contributions & support to local economy...many becoming pillars of the community & providing steady, stable employment and valuable services to their area.....GONE.

Exactly HOW LONG do you think these small mom & pops stores (the most beloved by the American people) can afford to continue paying rent for a business that is bringing in ZERO revenue?

As most of us already know, bills come every month whether we want them to or not, and certainly whether we have the money to pay them or not.

Small business owners shouldn’t have to dip into their retirement funds to sustain their closed business for an indefinite amount of time.

Meanwhile, corporate-owned businesses are raking in the profits that small businesses have lost because they ARE allowed to be open.

Wealthy stores like Wal-Mart, Amazon, Costco, etc...they have more business than they can handle & are hiring on the spot at reduced wages, often minimum wage.

My husband is friends with a professor from SMU who took a part-time job filling orders for Amazon because colleges are closed, and he is being paid minimum wage despite having multiple doctorate degrees.

Today our governor here in Texas has required that we wear masks in public or be fined $1,000.

WTF?!

It seems we aren’t even allowed to breathe fresh air anymore! I understand self-quarantine if you are sick, but why must the healthy be forced to stay indoors, wear masks & slather hand sanitizer all over our bodies like lotion?

Why is everyone complacent with these new Communist measures?
The "communist measures" are the result of the massive amount of control already given to our federal government. You see, almost everyone in the country is paying a whole lot more towards a federal tax than to their state. So the reason that small businesses are going to struggle right now is that the federal government has been robbing us for years. There isn't a state in this country that wouldn't be able to respond to a situation like this with funds to support small businesses better than the federal government is doing right now.

Still, the best way to have a defense against the federal government encroaching on the states is to have people live, because if a lot of people die, that is going to be a way to justify greater federal intervention. If people don't die, then there is a chance that this whole shelter in place thing will piss off enough people to cause a constitutional convention that might allow us to secede and dissolve the federal government.

There are too many people to start swinging the FEMA executive orders around as though they are going to mean something to over 300 million people. So you know, it is to our advantage that people live right now.

And yes, even though Dr. Phil has compared this with something mild on Fox News, people are dying from this in larger numbers when there is no shelter in place order. Look at Sweden that has no shelter in place order. My guess is that they are not stupid enough to keep posting COVID as the cause of death if it is not reasonable to do this because they are going to end up looking ridiculous in a couple of weeks if their numbers keep going up the way they are.

They are making themselves into a great example for comparison with how fast their death count is going up. There is no reason to assume that they are doing this to justify a shelter in place or anything else and they are going up a lot quicker than any location that implemented a shelter in place order. They have nothing to gain by posting their death count increasing this way and everything to lose if they keep going up like this.

So it is reasonable to assume that a lot of people could die from this and if a lot of people die, it is 100 times more likely that our freedoms will become more limited.

In addition to this, going from trying to justify your argument with the padded death counts and then the claim that the hospitals were all going to be rolling in dough because of the Medicare payments, to using the faces of small business owners as a poster child for supporting your position the same way Sally Struthers shows the face of a starving child to try to get money for Feed the Children doesn't really do the job on its own.

On its own, this is the same argument that people have used for the last hundred years to suggest that technology advancements were going to be detrimental to the workforce and put them out of a job. Every economics class in this country will go over these historical arguments and how they have already been proven false over and over again. There has always been a balance that has been created where the end of one job is met with the creation of a new one.

And there is still way too much money circulating in this country to assume that there are not new jobs outside of Walmart that are being created in the process. In my case, I am considered essential, so I am still working. However, my spending habits have not changed that much during this time. I already shopped for most everything besides food online and I have been spending basically the same amount of money and shopping the way I normally did throughout this whole time. So for myself and almost everyone that I shop from, nothing has really changed because of these measures

I mean, did people forget already that brick and mortar businesses were already going out of business in droves because of e-commerce. You're acting like this is some new development that started with the coronavirus, when this has been a complaint for the last 20 years. So I can't help but feel that your argument is not entirely sincere unless you were advocating that eCommerce were an enemy before these "draconian measures" were implemented.
