This lady, Kat James described herself as one of the worst bulimics in the 1980s pre internet. She went into liver failure and cured herself (as a makeup artist) going to health food store and library. She said she learned more about healing herself in a weekend than MDs with years of studying.

To help stop food waste, the good news is that some food/drink makers here in Britain are stopping printing "Use by date xxx" on their products, and instead telling customers to use their nose and commonsense to decide when the stuff should be thrown away..:)
