Christ, confirming The Law (see also
Deut. 30:15-20):
Matthew 5:17-20
5:17
Think NOT that I am come to destroy The Law, or the Prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to FULFILL [to fully preach The Law (The Torah) and fulfill the prophecies about the first coming of the Messiah].
5:18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass from The Law, till ALL be fulfilled.
5:19
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least COMMANDments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in The Kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in The Kingdom of heaven.
5:20
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall EXCEED [the righteousness] of the lawyers and politicians, ye shall in no case enter into The Kingdom of heaven.
Mark 12:29-31
12:29 And Jesus answered him,
The First of all the Commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
12:30
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength and serve Him ONLY: this [is] the first COMMANDment.
12:31
And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other COMMANDment greater than these.
Compare with:
Deuteronomy 4:1-9
4:1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the Statutes
and unto the Judgments, which I teach you, for to
DO [them], that ye may
LIVE, and go in and possess the land which the "I AM" God of your fathers giveth you.
4:2
Ye shall not ADD unto the word which I command you,
neither shall ye diminish [ought] from it, that ye may keep the
Commandments of the "I AM" your God which I
COMMAND you.
4:3 Your eyes have seen what the "I AM" did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the "I AM" thy God hath destroyed them
[idolaters] from among you.
4:4 But ye that did cleave unto the "I AM" your God [are] alive every one of you this day.
4:5 Behold,
I have taught you Statutes and Judgments, even as the "I AM" my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land where ye go to possess it.
4:6
KEEP therefore and DO [them]; for this [is] your Wisdom and your Understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these Statutes, and say, Surely this great nation [is] a wise and understanding people.
4:7 For what nation [is there so] great, who [hath] God [so] near to them, as the "I AM" our God [is] in all [things that] we call upon Him [for]?
4:8 And
what nation [is there so] great, that hath Statutes and Judgments [so] Righteous as all THIS Law, which I set before you this day?
4:9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently,
lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
Christ on Judging
ONLY by The Law that God gave us -- with its PERFECT Commandments, Statutes and
Judgments, by which all of us will be judged on the Last Day (Judgment Day):
Matthew 7:1-4
7:1
Judge NOT, that ye be not judged*.
7:2
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
7:3
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
7:4
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam [is] in thine own eye?
Compare with:
Deuteronomy 12:8 Ye shall
not do after all [the things] that we do here this day, every man whatsoever [is] right in
his own eyes.
Matthew 7:15-27
7:15
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
7:16
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
7:17
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
7:18
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
7:19
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into The Fire.
7:20
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into The Kingdom of heaven; ONLY he that doeth the Will of my Father which is in heaven.
7:22
Many will say to me in That Day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
7:23
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work inequity (continue in sin, breaking God's Law).
7:24
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and DOETH THEM, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a Rock (the Truth):
7:25
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a Rock (the Truth).
7:26
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them NOT, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
7:27
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his WORKS.
Deuteronomy 30:15-20
30:15 See,
I have set before thee this day
life and good, and
death and evil;
30:16 In that I command thee this day to love the "I AM" thy God, to walk in His Ways, and to
keep His Commandments and His Statutes and His Judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the "I AM" thy God shall bless thee in the land where thou goest to possess it.
30:17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
30:18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, [and that] ye shall not prolong [your] days upon the land, where thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that]
I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
30:20 That thou mayest love the "I AM" thy God, [and] that thou mayest obey His voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto Him: for
He [is] thy Life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the "I AM" sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob/Israel, to give them.
Deuteronomy 27:26
Cursed [be] he that confirmeth not [all] the words of this Law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
