Does God Place Conditions on His Gift of Salvation?

Why is this teaching of unconditional salvation, so evil?

1. It advocates that one can be saved without his/her own choice, (power of choice is a fundamental truth).

2. It advocates that God predestines one to salvation instead of an offer for you to be saved and you need to make a choice.

3. It advocates forgiveness of sins without repentance since one is saved without a choice.

4. It advocates a license to sin since you have already been saved before your sins committed.

5. It advocates that sin can be excused since forgiveness is already given in advance.

6. It advocates that God forces one to be saved without one’s choice.

7. It destroys the law.

8. It abolishes the law.

9. If the law is destroyed and abolished, then expect sin to be immortalized – one will continue to sin.

10. It advocates that one can be saved in sin instead of from sin.

“Whatever contradicts God's word, we may be sure proceeds from Satan.” PP 55.

Salvation.

We are saved by Grace through Faith, but Salvation is conditional. We cannot earn it, or buy it, and it does not automatically happen when we choose to believe in God, there are conditions for receiving it.

1. Accept Jesus as our Saviour.
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me"
(Revelation 3:20).

2. Sincerely repent of our sins.
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord"
(Acts 3:19).

3. Forsake our sins.
" He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy"
(Proverbs 28:13).

4. Confess our sins to God.
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"
(1 John 1:9).

5. Ask God to forgive our sins.
"...and ask the LORD's forgiveness before it is too late..."
(Jeremiah 36:7).

6. Be baptized by immersion (if possible).
"And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord..."
(Acts 10:48).

"When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus" (Acts 19:5).

7. "...Go and sin no more” (John 8:11).

Then we are Justified, and Justification is the 1st step in the process of Salvation.

The 2nd step is called Sanctification, and that involves learning to live without sinning and having our character transformed to be like the character of Jesus. That process lasts until we die, or until Jesus returns, whichever comes first.

"...And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work" (2 Timothy 2:19-21).

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" (Romans 12:2)

The last step is Glorification, when we receive a perfect body and mind, and eternal life. That happens at the 2nd Coming of Jesus.

"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed"
(1 Corinthians 15:52).

Nobody who refuses to obey any of the 10 Commandments will be saved. To disobey God's law is sin, and to refuse to obey means that forgiveness is not possible, since receiving forgiveness requires sincere repentance, and it is not possible to sincerely repent of a sin we refuse to stop committing.

Christ's Teachings are the Word of God (John 14:6; John 16:7-16; John 14:18). And we are to follow His Example of "self"-sacrifice, discipline and obedience to God and His Law, to help build God's Kingdom -- where sin has been destroyed -- here on Earth, as it is in Heaven.

The Only Way to do this is to get to know and love The One True God and Father of our Lord (Ps. 110:1; John 14:28; 1 Cor. 11:3), and Christ, the Saviour, whom God sent.

John 17:3 And THIS is Life Eternal, that they might KNOW Thee the ONLY True God, and Christ the Saviour, whom Thou hast sent.

How else could anyone recognize Christ during His Second Coming?

Protestantism?

You didn't include Adventism's view of "Uncondtional Salvation," so I found it and posted it below for reference.

____________
Adventism's View of "Uncondtional Salvation"
-
This teaching says, "When Jesus Christ died at Calvary, He saved everyone born and yet to be born to this earth unconditionally.
The Unconditional Salvation Teaching: Adventism's View
The doctrine above doesn't exist, to my knowledge.
It think it's just meant to be a
mockery of the doctrine of Grace or Protestantism, in general.

Sola scriptura: Scripture alone
Sola fide: faith alone
Sola gratia: grace alone *
Solo Christo: Christ alone
Soli Deo gloria: to the glory of God alone

The author admits: '...without going into the Scriptures yet, it reveals the baloney of this teaching.'

Yet... he didn't go into scripture at any point.
He only cited Patriarchs + Prophets-- a non-biblical source by Ellen White. I don't believe in the authority of Ellen White-- prophetic or otherwise.

It would be more appropriate for Adventists to be honest about the source of their beliefs.

If, instead of arguing over differences in man-made doctrines and traditions, we turn to The Word of God, we find that Christ's Mission was to eradicate sin (crime), NOT to multiply it (sin/crime/evil).

1 John 3:4-10
3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also The Law: for sin is the transgression of The Law.
3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our (past) sins; and in him is no sin.
3:6 Whosoever abideth in him (Christ) sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he (Christ) is righteous.
3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the Beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever DOETH NOT righteousness is NOT of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

We are the children of Whom/whom we choose to obey. If we continue to obey the devil/liar (LuciferSatan), then we are his children. If instead, we turn from thinking, saying and doing evil (sin/crime), then we are truly born again as God's (adopted) children. We are the children of Whom/whom we choose to obey.

God's GRACIOUS gift to this world is His Christ and the enlightenment (Light) that Christ (the Word of God) brings. Christ's Sacrifice in the body of Jesus was to pay for our PAST sins/crimes, NOT to give us the freedom to sin with impunity.

Romans 3:24-26
3:24 Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
3:25 Whom God hath fore-ordained [to be] an atonement through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins THAT ARE PAST, through the forbearance of God;
3:26 To declare, [I say], at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth Jesus.

No one can claim to know, love and believe Christ, the Saviour and not be transformed from darkness to Light; from sin/crime/evil to Christ-like righteousness and obedience to God, doing His Will (not our own), which begins with keeping Gods Perfect Royal Law of Liberty

It is truly by the grace of God that we still have this opportunity to change our fate at this late hour, after all of the sins/crimes/evil we have committed.

Don't squander this final opportunity to learn The Way home.

Thread title- Why is this teaching of unconditional salvation, so evil?

What exactly is "unconditional salvation" anyway?
I know there are some OSAS ('Once Saved Always Saved') vanity cultists around who think they've got a free home run to the pearlies, but the truth is NOBODY knows if they're saved or not, even Paul said-
"I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time" (1 Cor 4:3)

Christ, confirming The Law (see also Deut. 30:15-20):

Matthew 5:17-20
5:17 Think NOT that I am come to destroy The Law, or the Prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to FULFILL [to fully preach The Law (The Torah) and fulfill the prophecies about the first coming of the Messiah].
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass from The Law, till ALL be fulfilled.
5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least COMMANDments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in The Kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in The Kingdom of heaven.
5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall EXCEED [the righteousness] of the lawyers and politicians, ye shall in no case enter into The Kingdom of heaven.

Mark 12:29-31
12:29 And Jesus answered him, The First of all the Commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength and serve Him ONLY: this [is] the first COMMANDment.
12:31 And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other COMMANDment greater than these.

Compare with:

Deuteronomy 4:1-9
4:1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the Statutes and unto the Judgments, which I teach you, for to DO [them], that ye may LIVE, and go in and possess the land which the "I AM" God of your fathers giveth you.
4:2 Ye shall not ADD unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish [ought] from it, that ye may keep the Commandments of the "I AM" your God which I COMMAND you.
4:3 Your eyes have seen what the "I AM" did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the "I AM" thy God hath destroyed them [idolaters] from among you.
4:4 But ye that did cleave unto the "I AM" your God [are] alive every one of you this day.
4:5 Behold, I have taught you Statutes and Judgments, even as the "I AM" my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land where ye go to possess it.
4:6 KEEP therefore and DO [them]; for this [is] your Wisdom and your Understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these Statutes, and say, Surely this great nation [is] a wise and understanding people.
4:7 For what nation [is there so] great, who [hath] God [so] near to them, as the "I AM" our God [is] in all [things that] we call upon Him [for]?
4:8 And what nation [is there so] great, that hath Statutes and Judgments [so] Righteous as all THIS Law, which I set before you this day?
4:9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;

Christ on Judging ONLY by The Law that God gave us -- with its PERFECT Commandments, Statutes and Judgments, by which all of us will be judged on the Last Day (Judgment Day):

Matthew 7:1-4
7:1 Judge NOT, that ye be not judged*.
7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
7:4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam [is] in thine own eye?

Compare with:

Deuteronomy 12:8 Ye shall not do after all [the things] that we do here this day, every man whatsoever [is] right in his own eyes.

Matthew 7:15-27
7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into The Fire.
7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into The Kingdom of heaven; ONLY he that doeth the Will of my Father which is in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to me in That Day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work inequity (continue in sin, breaking God's Law).
7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and DOETH THEM, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a Rock (the Truth):
7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a Rock (the Truth).
7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them NOT, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his WORKS.

Deuteronomy 30:15-20
30:15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
30:16 In that I command thee this day to love the "I AM" thy God, to walk in His Ways, and to keep His Commandments and His Statutes and His Judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the "I AM" thy God shall bless thee in the land where thou goest to possess it.
30:17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
30:18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, [and that] ye shall not prolong [your] days upon the land, where thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
30:20 That thou mayest love the "I AM" thy God, [and] that thou mayest obey His voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto Him: for He [is] thy Life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the "I AM" sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob/Israel, to give them.

Deuteronomy 27:26 Cursed [be] he that confirmeth not [all] the words of this Law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Biblically Salvation is conditional, to say different is to speak against God and His Word.

Today, there is a gospel going around that salvation is about only believing on Jesus Christ. It doesn’t matter whether you keep the Commandments or not. Similar argument in Genesis 3:1 where the devil posts a mind question for Eve, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” The same questions is being asked by the devil today, saying, “Has God said you shall not eat of the tree of life if you don’t keep the Commandments”? And the devil continues, “hey, relax, just believe for that is all God requires!"

Biblically Salvation requires obedience.

We are saved by grace, through faith - but we are also judged by our choices and actions.

Salvation is a free gift, but it is not unconditional.
In order to be saved, we must make certain choices, and do certain things.

We must accept Jesus as our Saviour, sincerely repent for our sins, forsake our sins, confess our sins to God, and ask God to forgive our sins.

We must choose to do those things, and we must also actually do them.

Those are not "works", we do not "earn" salvation by doing those things, we are merely being obedient to God, who told us that we must do those things in order to be saved.

The same is true for obeying God's 10 Commandments.

We do not "earn" salvation by doing as God Commands us to do, we are merely being obedient, and we know that if we do not obey, that is sin, and the wages of sin, unless it is forgiven, is death and eternal separation from God.

Jesus died to buy us the chance to be saved, not to guarantee we would be saved.

Jesus did not die to buy us the right to keep on sinning.

Paul spent a lot of time trying to explain to people that we must still keep the Law even though we are saved by grace through faith:

"For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified."
(Romans 2:13).

"What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid" (Romans 6:15).

"Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law" (Romans 3:31).

"God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" (Romans 6:2).

"What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet" (Romans 7:7).

"To escape the error of salvation by works; we have fallen into the opposite error of salvation without obedience." -- A.W. Tozer

Obedience to God's will is a symptom of genuine Salvation.

John 14:15, Jesus says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

In John 14:21 Jesus said, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

1 John 2:3, "Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments."

1 John 2:4, "He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments,
is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

Hebrews 5:9, "And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him..."

God gives us the power to obey. "Human effort avails nothing without divine power; and without human endeavor, divine effort is with many of no avail. To make God's grace our own, we must act our part. His grace is given to work in us to will and to do, but never as a substitute for our effort.... "
P&K.487

I've posted this but I will post it again:

"Many Christians believe that God can help them in all their physical needs and they prayed for His power. They talk of His power in healing them, in answering their prayers. But when it comes to believing in God delivering them from breaking any of His Ten Commandments, they contradict themselves by saying, “man cannot keep ALL of God 's perfectly.” What a shame."

God has given us the power of choice; it is ours to exercise.

We cannot change our hearts, we cannot control our thoughts, our impulses, our affections. We cannot make ourselves pure, fit for God's service. But we can choose to serve God, we give Him our will; then He will work in us to will and to do according to His good pleasure. Thus our whole nature will be brought under the control of Christ. Should we keep the Law of God even if we’re already saved by grace through faith?

Just because we aren’t saved by the Law doesn’t mean we should no longer keep it. As we receive the gift of salvation, our natural response is to want to obey God. Our actions begin to line up with our beliefs.

Jesus gives us the strength we need to do so. We find that God's Law is for our good because it shows us what it means to love the way He does.

A simple analogy:

A cop pulls you over for speeding.

You are guilty. You have done it. The police officer, however, offers you grace. He lets you go with just a warning.

Though guilty of violating the speed limit, you are not going to face the punishment for it. You are set free.

Does that mean that as soon as the cop leaves, you will take off again, violating the speed limit law because you have been given grace?

Of course not.

It’s the same thing with God’s Law, the Ten Commandments.

The fact that we are not saved by the Law does not mean we should disregard it. After all, God’s Law is a reflection of who He is. It reveals to humanity what it looks like to love God and to love our fellow humans.

“Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law” (Romans 3:31).

First, the Law is how we know sin to begin with.

“Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:20).

The Law is what points out sins, points out our faults, and pinpoints our need for Christ.

Like a mirror.

The mirror can point out the wrinkles and gray hair of a person who is aging. But the mirror, or staring in the mirror all day, will do nothing to reverse the aging.

That was never the purpose of the mirror.

It’s the same with God’s Law. It was established to point out sin but not to solve the problem of sin.

This is why Paul wrote:

“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified” (Galatians 2:16).

Not being saved by the Law is something radically different from not being called by God to keep it.

And, yes, by the power of God we can keep God’s Law; we just can’t keep it to be saved by it.

That’s why Jesus lived a perfect life of Law-keeping so that we could receive it in place of our sinful lives.

Titus 2:11-14, "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works."

Ah, but how do we KNOW for sure if we're saved?
In fact it's dangerous for people to assume they're saved, because they'll drop their guard against satan and he'll then have them for breakfast, hence the warnings-
"The devil prowls round like a roaring lion" (1 Peter 5:8 )
"Put on the full armour of God against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11-18 )
"Don't give the devil a foothold" (Ephesians 4:27)
Jesus said- "..Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.." (Luke 22:31/32)
Below: Satan as portrayed in the film "The Passion of the Christ", always slyly lurking and rummaging (sifting) through our minds to pick up on anything he can use against us to sabotage us-

Receiving and accepting salvation is actually a simple process. If one sincerely believes in Jesus, they are saved (justification). Solely from the grace and the sacrifice of Jesus only of course.

There is a story in the book of Acts where Paul and Silas were imprisoned. One night, an earthquake hit and all the chains of the prisoners loosened and the doors opened. All the prisoners could have easily escaped.

But when the prison keeper came to check what had happened, thinking the worst, Paul and Silas told him all the prisoners were accounted for.

He was surprised at the honesty with which Paul and Silas had guided the prisoners and the prison keeper fell at the apostles’ feet and asked “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30).

Paul and Silas answered, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household” (Acts 16:31).

And that’s it. That’s all you have to do. Believe in Jesus and you’ll be saved.

The question is, after we initially believe that Jesus is our Lord and Saviour, then what? This is what I've posted on in this very thread. Its the conditions to salvation.

God’s salvation works through our faith in Jesus, and our acceptance of His love. And it works through Jesus because He took the “wages of sin” upon Himself. It is totally undeserved of course.

If we truly accept salvation, we will want to follow the very Jesus who saved us. We will follow His will. Becoming saved starts a process of growth within us (sanctification).

We realise we are sinners and only Christ can cleanse our sin. We repent and confess our sins. There are so many promises in the Bible of God telling us if we repent and confess, He will forgive us and help us to overcome sin because we can't do it on our own.

We submit ourselves to God, allowing Him to work in us and guide us through His Word.

Submitting to God means we obey His commandments and do His will (e.g getting baptised).

As we submit more and more of ourselves to God, we get transformed from the inside out and our faith grows.

This process lasts a lifetime (if not stopped) until we either die or Jesus comes back the second time.

..The question is, what is involved in "believing" in Jesus? I've posted about that in this very thread. Its the conditions to salvation...
Some people believe Jesus wasn't the Son of God and that he was God himself, even though Jesus said-
“Why do you call me good?..No one is good except God alone" (Luke 18:19)
"Only God knows when Judgment Day will be, I don't know myself" (Mark 13:32)
"I say nothing of my own accord, I only say what my father tells me to say.." (John 12:49)

"I am going to the Father, for my Father is greater than I" (John 14:28)
Even God said-
"This is my beloved son, listen to him" (Matthew 17:5)
So are they saved or what?

I already gave you an answer based on the Bible on this subject about Jesus being God and being the Son of God. Jesus being called the Son of God doesn't take away His Divinity. Its just another aspect of Him. Just like the Bible and He Himself calls Him the Son of man.

In this post in my thread of what the Bible teaches about the Godhead, I posted:

"The Bible frequently mentions the “Son of God.” But how can God have a “son,” and what should that mean to us?

Let us keep in mind that Jesus is the Son not in the sense of having been created, but because He partakes of the same divine nature as God the Father. Jesus is the eternal Son of God, and is also fully God Himself and part of the Godhead. He was sent to earth to minister to us, live as our example, and ultimately bear the eternal punishment of our sins. He is now our advocate, our High Priest, the relatable link between us and God the Father."

Salvation comes to those who believe Jesus is Lord and Saviour.
