This is why Kpop is never going to be taken seriously. It's always about the charts for them. SK's music industry became big because they were looking for more ways to make money. Not like western music industry is any different. But, western artists have more freedom to do whatever they want with their music which makes their overall output better in quality.

Dean was about to hit the bigtime, debuted on Sketchbook, collabd with Zico and Crush, SMTM 6, then all of a sudden he disappears and goes to the UK. I think he was offered the deal and left. He still makes music and stuff, but unless you make the deal, you never get headline or a major chart ever again.

I just listened to Onew's new album and it was garbage. Really shows you who is the real deal and who needs a whole ass company to make their songs sound good. Onew's previous albums were great because he had SM's huge song library to select the best songs from. Now, that he doesn't have the company providing him tailor made songs for his album his album quality dropped. Probably this is why Key and Minho are still with SM and why Taeyeon still stays in SM despite the company not promoting her well. It is easy to make a decent sounding album if all you have to do is listen to demos and choose songs you think will fit the vibe of your album. His new album is so basic with all 2 minute songs with generic beats and the few times they try to make songs good by adding a twist to the melody it fails horribly.

This is why so few in SM are allowed to make their own songs because they simply can't compete with professionals. SM idols are overrated as hell. Most SM group songs that get called masterpieces like 4 walls, Julliete, Mirotic, Call me Baby, half of SHINee and SNSD's TTs are bought from western producers and then the only thing SM does is ask their idols to sing over the original demo which is lazy and shows lack of creativity and originality. This is why SM cannot get western validation because despite all their flaws western music critics care about originality. They won't give a Kpop group a Grammy for making cover songs of western artists. This is why Dynamite and Jkay's album didn't receive Grammy either because the idols themselves did not make the songs. SM idols become popular because of the visuals SM's team that creates album concepts, album designs, songs, choreographies and MVs for them. Most SM idols don't have enough talent or connections inside the industry to survive on their own which is why so many SM idols decide to renew their contracts with the company despite slave contracts. Exo CBX managed to escape because Baekhyun has his sugar mommy and sugar daddy paying him a huge loan and taking care of his company but even he had 0 credits on his new album much like all other Exo members who left like D.O, Chen which proves it wasn't about creative control in his case at all. Suho stayed in SM and he has credits on all songs for Grey suit and his new EP. Chanyeol stayed in SM still he has songwriting credits all over his album. Taeyong, Mark have songwriting credits while still being SM idols as well. Despite what fans think SM does not have "beef" with their favs which makes them "steal" credits from their favs and force them to sing company songs.

Taemin is the only SM idol so far who managed to release a high quality album outside of SM with the self-produced tag even though I don't consider his album technically self-produced because he still had a whole team of songwriters and composers working for him and probably only got credits for doing minor changes to songs but I guess just for the fact he was able to churn out a better album than his recent releases without SM's machine backing him proves he at least isn't talentless and his fans can believe the "Lore" about SM "stealing" credit from him for his solo career. But again that's just ONE out of 10 SM idols who left recently and someone who already had the reputation of being very talented. If we add Jessica Jung, Tiffany, Amber etc the list of SM idols who can't do anything without SM's machine backing them will become even long. Even Boa of all people decided to retire once grandpa soo man left SM which shows how dependent even senior SM idols are on the management in SM.

3:04 in this performance the way he touches the dancer I haven't seen SHINee members touch their female dancers like this also in this other performance I am sharing of Dice I found the female dancer's clothing very inappropriate. The skirt is so short imagine how hard it would be to dance in this and also protect yourself from perverts who could take weird photographs. SHINee member's dancers are so well dressed I was disgusted to see such mini skirt on the girl dancers.

Compare this to this performance. Since, Key doesn't do sexy songs I have to go with Taemin but you see his dancers are more appropriately dressed than Onew's. This is literally a song about performing sex but the dancers are more appropriately dressed and the way he touches which he barely does anyway but the touch is not creepy.
I felt Onew is trying to copy Taemin in recent photos by showing his arms more often and the way he is dressed. Maybe he wants to look sexy so he is copying Taemin who has the most sexy image. Another thing Onew participated in 3 water bombs this year and the tea is last year during water bomb in Japan I think which Taemin participated (and kinda went viral for) some perverts tried to harass women fans during after party which I heard can happen in such festivals because they are not very safe. This year Onew was the member who participated in most water bombs and Shawols were making jokes about it because he doesn't have a body to show or sexy songs to perform in such festivals but why did he go there then?? Performers like Kai, Taemin, Minho are called to such events because they fit the vibe but why Onew with such a modest and sweet image went to 3??
Dear could you please tell me where exactly the touching part is in the video of Taemin's song that you shared in your post? Actually, I couldn't catch that part. Very Sorry.

Onew's participation in the water bomb festival was definitely hilarious and even unexpected since he didn't have the body to fit in that festival. Nor did he have the songs to perform to suit that festival. Therefore, it was okay to some extent for the shawols to make fun of his participation there. But the thing is he was on a hiatus for a year and he has left his agency SM and joined a new agency to become a soloist, so he has to be there wherever possible to fill the gap, especially to remain relevant, to remain in the public eye and to enhance his popularity so that he can survive as a soloist. Because he is not as popular and successful as his group member Taemin, who will remain popular even after a hiatus of one or three years and whose solo career will not be affected even after the hiatus because of his talent and hardwork. Therefore, he has to do this in order to survive and become popular or successful as a soloist, especially to gain attention.

Although I think he is a bit hasty in leaving SM which he shouldn't have done. Because his solo career has not yet been established at the level of Jonghyun and Taemin's solo careers which he needed to establish before leaving SM, especially to be successful as a soloist. Nor is he as talented and popular as those two which could help him succeed and remain in the industry for a long time as a soloist. Nor is there anything special about him. Plus, the songs of his latest album are not that good enough to help him enhance his popularity and fan base that he needs. That's why I think he has acted hastily.

Jonghyun was the most talented member and they did feel jealous all of them I will agree because Jonghyun's talent was God gifted and very rare no doubt. 2nd most talented is Taemin but his talent is not natural talent like Jonghyun he is someone who PRACTICES a lot and shows improvement over time with hard work which is also what Jonghyun always praised him for bcz he "worked hard" not because he was naturally talented but I can respect that now because of too many talentless idols debuting in 4th and 5th gen who can't sing to save their lives which changed my perspective and I can respect him for his hard work now bcz he could've done the same by relying on grandpa soo man to do things for him but he improved his vocals and is now a solid vocalist not comparable to Jonghyun but a strong vocalist even if it was out of jealousy of Jonghyun it was better than staying stagnant like sakura, JM, KAI, Eunchae relying on looks and fanservice only. He has become a well-rounded artist now who is able to dance, sing, write lyrics, compose songs and semi-rap but he's not comparable to Jonghyun in terms of composing and songwriting bcz like he admitted he is starting rn and is a bit sloppy but he will probably get better over time not on Jonghyun's level but good with PRACTICE like he always does.
So true. Basically Taemin has the hunger and quality to learn something new, to improve and to make himself better as an artist always, for which he makes every possible effort, works hard and does not give up which is a great thing about Taemin. Which can definitely take him to great success and heights in future and this is the reason why he is different from his other three members, quite popular and successful. And that's why people respect him, like him and appreciate him. I'm not a fan of Taemin and I don't like him much but I appreciate him for his talent and hard work.

After these 2 there's a huge wall and then there are Onew and Key then Minho. Onew has a nice voice only and maybe some decent skill in songwriting. He can't dance, have no charisma, hasn't tried composing songs and is horrible in rap. Key is decent singer, songwriter, dancer, rapper and has his variety gigs to make money from if he stops making music but he is lazy and hasn't produced or composed anything yet and he doesn't improve which is why he fell behind Taemin in singing and dancing when at debut he was better than him but now Key has fallen behind Taemin in terms of skill. Minho is just the filler member who is Okay in everything added for visuals but he is decent songwriter that's it.
Wow, the description you have given about Key, Minho and Onew in this part is absolutely spot on, well explained and true. From which I don't think there is anything left to say or add in this context because that's perfect, hence I won't say anything in relation to this part.

I am just adding the thing in which these three are better and quite good in my opinion more than singing/rapping and that's acting where all three of them are quite good, especially Minho and Onew. Which can help them to be successful and to remain in the industry for a long time if their career as a musician does not help them to remain in the industry for a long time. Because I have watch the dramas of these three and I liked their acting a lot. That's why I can say this with certainty, atleast, lol.

The first Korean drama that I watched was Onew's and that is DOTS in which his acting as a resident doctor Lee Chi-hoon (supporting character) was amazing. Although I didn't know at the time that he is a singer and the leader of a famous boy band SHINee. I learned that when I watched BOF after this drama. While watching the drama I thought he was an actor like Song Joong Ki and Jin Goo who probably has been in the acting field for a long time and in which he is quite good whereas he was a rookie in this field. That's why when I came to know that he is a singer and the leader of the famous boyband SHINee and he had not acted in any Korean drama (except in musicals) before this drama, I was quite surprised, lol.

Onew received a lot of praise for his role in the drama "DOTS" and even he was awarded with the Newcomer Scene Stealer Award at the 2016 Scene Stealer Festival for his role in DOTS. Which somewhere I think is enough to explain how good he is at acting. And the good thing is that he is thinking about doing acting again which I think is good for him. Although he does not have the suitable looks and personality to play lead roles which Minho has. He is suitable to play the second lead or supporting role.

On the other hand, Minho has acted quite well in his new drama "Romance In The House" which is currently airing on Netflix and his role/drama is being loved by many people. Plus, Astro Group member Sanha has made his acting debut with this drama and his role is also being loved by many people. That's why I think Key, Minho and Onew will be more successful in acting than as musicians.

Although everything I have said in my post about Key, Minho and Onew's acting is just my observation and opinion, so I could be wrong.

I attached some pictures of Onew I feel where they were trying to make him look sexy and young. I also posted a picture of Taemin recently. Onew's picture with bare arms if you look closely the style of clothing and pictures is very similar to Taemin's style so I thought maybe he wants to copy him.
Looking at the pictures that you shared in your post, it seems that he is trying to copy Taemin and looking at his recent activities, it also seems that he is trying to be more sexy and overly cute than necessary. Due to which he has started looking more like an idiot instead of looking sexy and cute. While there is no need for him to become which he is not. Because he is talented and has a good voice, so if he focuses more on improving himself and his career then he will definitely be successful and go far. Especially, if he continues to be his actual self and doesn't copy anyone and doesn't try to be someone which he is not. But he wants to be successful as a soloist and he wants to remain in the industry for a long time, so he and his agency will do whatever is suitable or appropriate, or necessary for that. Even if it makes him look like an idiot. It's simply DESPERATION in my opinion.

There has been more references to "cats" lately...The feline, beta kitten "programming" has been very active...

The boygroup Xikers released a song called, "Witch". I'm a girlgroup stan so I'm not the most familiar with boygroups, only somewhat familiar.

However, one YouTuber said in her comment,

"As a non korean speaking fan I feel tricked at first they put "witch" as the title but the hangeul is "위치" or "wichi" which means location, and it's probably related to their lore (coordinate and stuff). I'm happy and excited to see them continue the lore, bcs it's just so interesting! Go xikers!"

At 02:49 - 02:52, you see a group of hooded individuals wearing white masks, standing in a circle, and at 02:56, one of the members starts to spontaneously combust into a blue flame and "explode"

Yes, I agree with your observations about Onew, Key and Minho. Minho is a great actor and Key is expert in variety, Onew could be a good OST singer which will help him keep his career afloat for years but he needs to stop trying to be a main pop boy because it does not suit him. I think these three could be compared to Japanese idols who are more like entertainers than full-fledged musicians. Japanese idols do a lot of work outside of releasing music like Mcing, acting, hosting radio shows, modeling and in Japan the concept of idol doesn't mean the person is a musician or artist which I think is true for a lot of idols too because SK did take the basic concept of idols from Japan. On the other hand Jjongtae are more comparable to western artists who focus primarily on music.

Also, glad to see someone agrees with me about Flow not being a great album because I swear if you go in Shawol spaces they are acting like he released a masterpiece. I liked Circle, Voice and Dice but now I am questioning how much he had a part in making of those albums and how much was it SM and their A&R providing him top quality song demos which he doesn't have access too now so he is releasing generic pop music to stay relevant. I am also curious how Key's music would sound like if he went the self-produced route like Ontae outside of SM because I feel his discography is amazing but how much is it just him having a good ear for selecting good song demos and how much is it his natural talent? Onew does not look sexy in those pics because he doesn't have the charisma or the body to do a sexy concept. I wonder who gave him the idea to try sexy concepts now when he is already 35 and past the age when idols are considered most sexually appealing.

I think SHINee benefitted a lot from Jonghyun's presence. All SM idols are manufactured and rely heavily on SM's A&R and song collection to make good music. However, Jonghyun was self-produced and even SM couldn't ignore his talent. Because of him SHINee started to be more respected like traditional artists who participate in album making process but apart from Jonghyun I don't think anyone in SHINee have actually participated that much in the creative process of their albums. For instance they were "given" Don't Call Me by LSM after Boa rejected it and they didn't even like Hard their latest title track. Maybe the other members felt jealous or it was non-Jonghyun biased shawols who spread the narrative that ALL SHINee members are heavily involved in creative process because they didn't want their bias to look bad compared to Jonghyun.

Taemin has recently told Shawols that his work with SM was heavily commercialized and until now he had been singing songs given by his company. I 100% believe him and this is actually an open secret that SM idols only perform songs but I have seen Shawols trying to ignore his comment or misinterpret him. He clearly meant his and SHINee's image was manufactured by SM because this is what K-industry insiders have always said about SM idols. Everyone in K-music industry knows idols are dependent on corporations and don't actually make their own music but Shawols don't want to believe this because it would mean they have to accept that the mastermind behind SHINee's music, and the one who deserve more credit for SHINee's discography being so great than the members is SM's A&R and the team behind them. I feel so frustrated with Shawols they are the worst fandom. They cannot even believe their own favourites' words and are doing mental gymnastics to prove SHINee are creative geniuses and had full control over their discography and they still believe all the lies SM invented during SHINee's debut era about their personalities.

Taemin's hunger and drive to be successful is comparable to western artists in my opinion. Western artist have more passion and drive for their careers than Kpop idols and forgive for going on a rant against Kpop idols but this is something that bothers me a lot about Kpop.

Idols are actually privileged because they don't have to hustle like western artists. Companies work hard to make idols popular and cultivate a dedicated fan base. If you are an idol from big 4 you are guaranteed success but that is not the case with western artists. No one stans western artists because of their labels they actually have to make people like them by releasing good music. Britney Spears is comparable to Kpop idols but she was harshly criticized during most of her active career and in her prime she had stage presence and charisma which no Kpop idol can match. Western artists are trashed for giving one bad live performance and they actually improve after taking criticism from the public. Taylor Swift improved vocally after she was criticized, Ariana started releasing better music, JT went to the Gym and learned to dance again after he was mocked for his shabby dance skills and appearance. Western artists also get trashed for sticking to one genre or style of music and are expected to keep reinventing themselves throughout their careers. In Kpop idols having images and set musical styles is considered Normal if idols are criticized fandoms and companies work overtime to shut down the haters and coddle them. But this is also why Kpop idols do not improve and why Kpop lacks soul. This is why I think Taemin is more comparable to western artists because whenever he was criticized for his vocals, or effeminate looks or being manufactured he actually decided to do something about it and tries to reinvent himself and he is one of the few idols who actually had to work hard to earn respect and popularity. I also think he has always been more dedicated to his solo career than SHINee. He sticks with SHINee because of obligation because in Kpop if a member leaves the group it is seen as a scandal and they lose support from fans but if SHINee were a western boyband I think Taemin would have left them and become more like JT, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik by 2018. If you compare his live performances with SHINee vs his Solo there is a stark difference. In SHINee he does not stand out much and looks soulless but when he is performing solo that's where all his charisma, passion and stage presence comes out.

Frankly, I am not attached to SHINee as a group anymore. I have been hoping for them to disband since 2021 because their music has been on constant decline. Without Jonghyun they are not the same and they need to accept that and just focus on their solo careers. Last Year they released Hard which was the first time I thought they failed in executing a concept. What they did for Hard was an insult to Hip Hop. Just throwing words at fast speed is not rapping and their Hip Hop attitude looked so fake. I am not even into Hip Hop that much but I cringed watching them during Hard because that concept did not suit them at all. If they promoted that concept in the west they would have been mocked endlessly by western music critics but because they are Kpop idols and have legions of fans behind to protect them even music critics let them go and showered them with fake and superficial praise. If you read and compare reviews of western artist albums and Kpop artist albums you will see the difference yourself. Western artist albums are reviewed critically and they are review bombed over minor things like the length of albums, lyrics and themes of songs or order of songs in the album. Meanwhile, most Kpop reviews are just word salad with endless praise of the idols to please fans and there is no critical analysis because if reviewers give a not so good score to Kpop albums they start to receive death threats.

I laugh when Kpop fans compare their favs with legends like MJ, Madonna, David Bowie. First of all except for Beyonce most western artists have gone through phases when they delivered flops or were review bombed by critics. Even someone as revolutionary as MJ was criticized for not being able to reinvent himself after Thriller and most of his post Bad work was not highly acclaimed or considered masterpiece. Meanwhile, every other Kpop fandon acts like their favs never miss and every release in Kpop is considered a 10/10 which is realistically impossible and just shows how delusional Kpop fans are and how fake and inauthentic the Kpop system is.

Sorry, for going a bit off topic and ranting so much about Kpop. These things have bothered me for a while since I started to get away from fandoms and went back to listening non-Kpop artists. Kpop is so fake and commercialised and highly overrated by fans it makes me furious when I see fandoms elevate their favs on the same level as actual artists and revolutionaries.
