A whole category on religion and spirituality that seems to do little to bring souls closer to God

I humbly ask for the forgiveness of all of the participants on this forum if I come across, in anyway, as sanctimonious or high and mighty.
This category used to be the first I would read when i would log on. I found it comforting to see all the different individual efforts to pursue and know our Creator. I would read AFreeman's "God at eventide" posts almost everyday. I do not agree with him in whom he believes is the Christ, but I enjoyed reading about his journey and I pray for him. (Sorry to name you specifically) I feel the same about many of the other members' threads as well. Including our Muslim members.
The reason I felt compelled to create this thread is.. I no longer look at any of the posts in this category anymore. Not for months. I can only speak for myself of course, but it seems that everyone is just waiting for their turn to talk. There's little respectful dialogue. There's tons of vitriol slung back and forth. How does this help to know or understand God more? As a servant of God we are called to be a window for the non believer. We should let the light of our Creator shine through us and draw them like a moth to a flame! We help them see the character of God and then they chose to know Him further. We are just seed planters here. We aren't supposed to hurl the seeds in people's faces, we should plant them with care. And please forgive me as I am not familiar with the Quran so I can't speak to how a Muslim believer is supposed to carry themselves. I just don't want to generalize or speak out of ignorance.
Anyhow, with the recent outbreak of war in Israel, the discourse taking place is becoming... It's like people are in a fever dream. Is it not true that all faiths who serve God have been oppressed for their beliefs throughout history?
So my plea is for ALL the God fearing servants of our Creator, regardless of the name of your faith, to step up and be the light in the dark. We cannot have feet that run to wickedness when all Hell breaks loose. We have to be the voices of reason. We have to be willing to listen, be patient, forgiving, merciful. We cannot condone the murdering of the innocent. We can't keep blustering back and forth wasting our breath defending the indefensible. This only pushes people farther away from wanting to know God. The nonbelievers say "What? all this killing in the name of religion!? That's crazy!" The nonbelievers think we are savages... ALL of us. That's Christians, Muslims, and Jews. Please pray for wisdom and discernment in this time of deception. Pray for God to show you how He wants to be represented so we can help bring the lost sheep back to the fold, not drive them out to be devoured by the wolves.
My prayers for all the members of this forum and the suffering people upon this earth.

I completely left this forum for quite sometime for the very reason you are speaking. I still come back occasionally to see what is going on and post once in awhile. The events of this past weekend, of course prompted me to come and see different perspectives from members of the forum.

I think a huge issue with this, is that two sides are always fighting each other. With this new war going on with Israel and Palestine, it's just another distraction to get people to pick sides and cause more division. This is why we are seeing these things in these threads with people arguing with each other. Just another thing the elites create to make people fight each other instead of them. This is why I hate war and choosing so much..hope this makes sense, and can understand this is definitely a thing on here, it's sad.

Yes, it is the old divide and conquer, all day every day. It's working like a charm.

I think the hope of unity is gone, that ship has sailed. We just cannot ignore the blinding differences between our belief systems.

Recent events have also drawn lines; it’s clear that the demise of one region is the tribulation of another. I’ve had some discussions with Christians who would rather pull out an eyeball than condemn the genocide of the Palestinians. It was never ever an Islamic issue to me, it was always a case of colonial oppression. Unfortunately I’ve come to learn that many people, Christians and non Muslims, have a real issue and hatred for Muslims, or anything Islam related. The mere fact that Palestinians are mostly Muslim is enough for some to ignore their plight and allow for their horrific treatment. The constant equating of anti Israel and anti semitism is tiring. It’s such a rudimentary statement with no weight.

I think for me this week has highlighted that in my ignorance, I actually believed for a while that you could unify with like minded individuals. The reality is there has been a lot of trivialisation of the events that have been unfolding in the Middle East and I can’t ignore that. It disturbs the peace of my heart to see the world condemning the perpetually oppressed and allow for the brutal pillaging of innocent civilians.

Christians believe Muslims are going to hell. Muslims believe Christians are going to hell. Atheists believe there is no hell. Hindus believe we’ll come back as donkeys. We all hold deeply personal beliefs which shape our lives and there is no room for negotiation on these matters for most of us. It gives our life purpose. Enough with the fake ‘oh let’s all get along’ because the truth of the matter is we won’t. Muslims simply won’t accept Christians as allies and vice versa, it won’t happen because there are too many conflicting ideas with regards to the foundation of each faith which don’t allow for the cohesion needed for unity. We can co-exist and interact on a surface level but I don’t see anything past that coming into fruition. I’m fine with that, I interact with people from other walks of life. I can respectfully hold my own views and they have the right to live and practise how they see fit.

The best thing we can do is be civil and to the best of our ability respect each others spaces.

what we consider ‘to step up and be the light in the dark’ differs. We even differ in what we regard as The Creator. I guess I’m having trouble understanding what you mean here.

I hope me putting in my 2c is not a theadjack, and if so i apologize ahead of time.

- i feel so bad for ALL the innocent people caught up in the middle of this.

- i feel so much for the palestinians and their living conditions, not just since this weekend, but for decades.
But what's going on now, having the water and power shut off on the whole palestinian population, innocent children being being killed, entire neighborhoods being leveled, western warmongers calling on "finishing them off" aka genoicide ... The civilian populations are being punished for what their leaders do (assuming this is legit and not a false flag...). This is so evil, it is not a Christian attitude to be cheering this on ...

- in all honesty, i am terrified of saying what i just said. But, God knows what's in the heart, and i've been thinking it, so He knows...

Jesus preached to God and love our neighbor as ourselves. As we know, the Jews rejected His message, and those that didn't became Christians... but His message would not be to destroy an entire group of people in modern times. That is not loving your neighbor as yourself.

So, even though the Bible says that God made an everlasting covenant with Abraham (the reason many Christians will side with Israel), a couple of things

- the Israelites are not the only descendants of Abraham, nor the modern Jews (if the modern Jews are actually Jews, that is)
- It's not "cursing" Israel to acknowledge that many innocent palestinians are caught up in the middle and being slaughtered.

The way the media is one sidedly portraying anyone who acknowledges the people caught up in the middle as a "t e r r o rist sympathiser" is terrifying. Theyre coming at us from both sides - they want to come get us for being "right wing" and they want to get us for "sympathising with t e r r o rists" if we see past the media onslaught.

I agree with most of this. DR made a thread calling for unity maybe a month or 3 ago. You can imagine how that turned out.

You can say we have alot of things in common and only focus on them. But i can't ignore donkeys flying Israels colors as they systematically murder 1000's of innocent people as we speak.

You want to see a denizen of the hellfire?

This is one.

Head in the sand and ass in the air. No logic will ever reach this donkey. May he reap what he sows.

Regardless, prophecy speaks of a Muslim / Christian alliance, so one is coming at some point.

I don't think you can really put Jews into the equation for the simple fact that they are a minority.
Christians, 2,000,000,000.
Muslims, 2,000,000,000
Jews, 20,000,000.. ...and this 20 million is at least 50% zionists so they don't count as Jews because most of them are completely secular and have zero connection with prophet Moses.

You probably have 10 million actual Jews across the globe and they are never in the media because they are anti-Israel.

This is what. 2000 Christians for 1 Jew?

Israel will fall, i guarantee this. It is also prophecy and Muslims will be the ones to end them. There is a reason Jews are planting Gharqad trees everywhere in Israel... because they believe in it too.

You can roll your eyes at Islamic prophecy or look into history and see Prophet Muhammad (saw) predicted many things. Much has already come true and he have never been wrong. Not once.

So many here will happily say they're "children of God", yet they fail to grow past that. There are a few adolescents here, but I sense no "Adults".

Nor the Protestants during the Crusades
Lol what. The Protestant Revolution was three centuries after the Crusades. You've got your chronology a bit muddled there.
There were Orthodox Christians and other eastern variants (who are by far nothing to do with Protestantism), but Protestants didn't come into existence until after Luther in the 16th century, the Crusades ended in the late 13th century.

Lol well, I could be off on my timing there, but my point is still valid.
Not really, there is a 10 year divide here between the Muslims and Christians. You're really late to the show.

If you want to know why there is no love, ask those Christians who fly Israeli colors while Paramedics are literal targets.

What, didn't know they targeted ambulances? Sure they do, because terrorists hide in the back. Just like the schools and hospitals. They are swarming hives for terrorists. This is why Israel likes to double tap them. Hit em once, when the paramedics show, hit them again.

War crimes? What are you talking about?

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I agree that the Muslims are painted in a certain light. This does cause the world to judge the Palestinians unfairly and disregard the horrors they have endured. Most people from the West just don't have any idea beyond what they are spoon fed by the media and the educational system etc. It is unfortunate. Also I would never expect (nor did I imply I don't think) everyone to sit round the campfire singing Kumbaya. My hope is exactly what you said.. "Just be civil and respect each other's spaces". I totally agree with you.
What I'm saying is let's all try to keep our heads here. It's so easy to start arguing back and forth with someone who doesn't worship the same way. I don't know any Muslims in real life but I enjoy reading their thoughts on the forum. I've actually learned more about their culture from what Muslim folks have posted here. So that's why I said I can only speak for myself, but it is frustrating to see almost every thread in this category turn into the same basic argument on a never ending loop. Now that this war is starting to escalate so dramatically it's tough to watch people, most of which are decent God fearing folk, defend any of the atrocities that have happened, are happening or that will take place. I up to my neck in secular America and the non believers I talk to think we are barbaric. They can't understand how we defend the murdering of the innocent in God's holy name. We shouldn't defend it because we don't have any say in what is happening anyway! And I'm not worried about gaining the approval of the nonbelievers. But we are called to bring souls want to know God. Endless mudslinging and finger pointing is futile and only serves the self, not the Creator.

I am not defending the Jews' actions. I have heard horrific accounts of the "double tap". I am no history expert obviously. I was simply saying all people who serve God have been oppressed at some point. The world is ruled by the evil one who longs to destroy the light of the Truth.

I know exactly what you mean. You can't be a Christian defending the Palestinians or you might be an extremist. I'm not extreme. I don't condone murder. I would lay down my life for my fellow man. Period. That's what we're called to do as servants of God.

I removed the statement I made containing the historical mixups. Thank you for calling them to my attention. My heart was in the right place lol.
