I also voted for him. It was during that 2020 time when many things were leaked by others and seem to be out of control - the JTBC scandal, Jungkook's club outing, Taehyung's comments, and lives. Everyone else had an interest to stay in the band, except Taehyung. To me, that 2019/2020 period was his moment to get away. He was in the spotlight, he took over when Jungkook got hurt, his solo songs were the best among the other members and the talking around him got bigger and bigger.
Retrospectively thinking, this moment becomes even more important, seeing how they all desperately signed the contract with what I presume to be very poor condition - even if taken the link I've posted with their company's financial and board distribution - Bang owns and controls everything, no BTS members in the board, no significant shares - as I've posted back then as my opinion about their contract - only to be confirmed later - the all got a very small amount of shares, which were not allowed to sell for I believe 2 years, which they apparently sold later, at least some of them, to ensure that they financially vouch if the IPO goes south.
I don't believe that JTBC was fake. I do believe that they found out there are issues with their contracts, found out what and later BigHit signs with them for a longterm collaboration.
Also the short-term breakup with Naver when they removed BTS from their Instagram. I didn't believe much about their negative Jungkook article regarding his club outing, because it was already for 3 weeks or so in the news. But at some point never also was a problem.
One in all, that was the moment where they could have used their position to get out and I thought Taehyung would be the one to benefit the most out of it, at that specific time.

The issue with people not getting married and not having children is also present in the west. I noticed how many people my age are unmarried, without children, or with one child but unmarried.
