Oh I agree completely. People who don't need to show off are much more alluring than people who have everything on display.
Regarding the Tae vs. Jin situation, even though they worked it out, I really hated the way the band approached Tae about that whole thing. I suspect at that time they did not understand just how hyper-observant Tae is (he's shown this many times in their content over the years), and I truly believe he was just trying to help Jin out. The problem was, once Jin showed resistance to that, Tae should've backed off, but instead he pushed it. That's what started the whole conflict. On top of that, every other member wanting Tae to respect Jin simply because he's older was so ridiculous. Cultural motives aside, people should be respected for many reasons but simply being older isn't one of those reasons.
RM has always seemed to have a good rapport with Tae. He just seems to get how Tae's brain works, and knows how to talk to him. I don't like RM at all, but I gotta give him credit, he definitely knows how to deal with people who are neurodivergent.
In that situation too, YG was defending Jin 100% which was likely born from YG not liking Tae when they first met, and those two not being that close as bandmates. Jin could set a school bus full of children on fire and YG would probably find some way to justify it or defend him, simply because he always seems to worship the ground Jin walks on. (That leads me to a side note that I think Jin is the only member that YG actually likes).
And yes, Taejin was one of the original ships, along with Namseok (RM and JH).
Tae is also the only member who makes it really obvious that he doesn't spend time with his bandmates outside of their activities. Pretty much none of them actually spend time together outside of BT5 stuff, but they are super low-key about it. Tae is full-on "nope I do my own thing" and he doesn't give a rat's behind what anyone thinks. I'm not totally convinced that Jin and Tae are particularly close.
