The word that is being mistranslated as "Arabic" is "Arabiyyan" (Arabian). The Arabian tongue for centuries, including throughout the entire lifetime attributed to Muhammad (570-632 AD), and beyond, was Aramaic (Syriac).

I don't have much knowledge in this to comment either but I was aware of the meanings of 'cul' and always tried to pronounce it correctly in Arabic.

Majority of the hadiths used and often quoted are from Abu Hurayrah. A character I have come to doubt. If you read up about his life his intentions are very suspicious.
