great book for you to read:
watership down. its about a rabbit society. if you like the duncton series of novels, this one is far better. a nice, pleasant read.
read the classic,
gone with the wind while it is still available and un-banned. its very good. its long, though, and as a kid i wouldve never read it, as i tried to find the book with the least amount of pages in it for a book report.
gates of fire -- about the 300 spartans, but very well written. probably better for guys?
killer angels-- historical fiction about the civil war-- very well done.
GREAT nonfiction book about conquering the american frontier and the fur trade of the 1830s--
give your heart to the hawks by wil blevins. fantastic. what a great book. maybe my favorite.
favorite bio:
the private life of chairman mao, written by his doctor. you wouldnt believe maos personal habits and his paranoia. i think this book is banned in china.
practical ethics, by singer. very thought provoking book. found it via a michael tsarion recommendation.
children of the arbat-- a book about the 30s in the USSR. fiction, but seemingly accurate and enjoyable. i ended up reading more on soviet gulags after this.
adventure:
River of Darkness: Francisco Orellana's Legendary Voyage of Death and Discovery Down the Amazon great book on the first spaniard to go down the amazon river. i was looking for some occult historical connections and found many: amazon women, european looking people, etc. interesting account.
go to amazon and read a few other comments; see if the descriptions appeal to you.
