Also it was far easier for Joan of Arc to move through the public in disguise, dressed as a man would allow her into places where no one would suspect her or throw her out. A big part of this problem is that people who do this (mostly radicals in academia with positions of power) have to project onto other historical figures and film and tv characters because they don’t see themselves represented anywhere except in a negative way like Brian de palmas dressed to kill or Al Pacino in cruising for example.
