I think Jkay is not taking their hiatus well. Ever since their hiatus I am noticing a certain sadness in his eyes. I think he does not have many close friends IRL and may feel lonely with the group unofficially disbanding.

That's a very sensible observation... and that must be true...

Jeykey had about half of his entire life revolve around a pseudo-family, full of stress & "excitements..." (and not to mention the very sad parts).

A sudden lack of busy activities seemed to have made him "melancholic..."

I hope he explores the horizon for his other talents in visual arts (painting, video editing, & film making).

he used to say all the time that he struggled with what he wanted to do outside and bt5 and what his goals were. he made being the golden maknae and part of bt5 his whole identity but now that they're done he probably feels so lost. i do feel bad for him given he was thrown in the industry so young and raised by members and predators in that company :/

I think it's a maknae thing. Fans were laughing about how strange maknaes act, but they're raised by other children. We see the results of kids raising kids on the streets. How are they different? If anything it's probably worse because they're starved for sleep, food, love, and attention during their formative years. The company abuses them and they're made to perform past their breaking point. Sponsors, drugs, dysfunctional group dynamics and unhealthy parasocial relationships with fans at a time when normal teens are finding their identity, that's going to fuck kids up. The younger members are usually messed up and fans think it's cute.

So, I ran the original Korean statement through Google translate just to see if this was a translation error and he did say something like Lee Taemin is on the verge of death or Lee Taemin dies every day because of their banter.
