"Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience sake; for “the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness” (1 Corinthians 10:25-26)
The Greek word μακέλλῳ (makellō) , which occurs only once in Scripture, refers to a marketplace, where victuals were sold, translated as "the shambles" rather than "meat market" in the KJV.

1 Corinthians 10:25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, [that] eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

People who have wrongly made a god of their belly though look for excuses to continue their disobedient/sinful/criminal behavior, instead of following Christ's Commands (Matt. 6:10) and Example.

John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the Will of Him that sent me, and to finish His work.

And for anyone who may have been deceived into believing that Paul changed The Law, or even had the authority to supersede both God and His Christ (1 Cor. 11:3), which is utterly ridiculous, please consider that the same Paul referenced in the letters to the Corinthians also wrote the following:

Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind (Being) I myself serve The Law of God; but with the flesh (human) the law of sin.

Romans 7:12-16
7:12 Wherefore The Law [is] holy, and the Commandment holy, and just, and good.
7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the Commandment might become exceeding sinful.
7:14 For we know that The Law is spiritual (for my spirit): but my "Self" is carnal, sold under sin.
7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
7:16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto The Law that [it (The Law) is] good.

Romans 3:31 Do we then make void The Law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish The Law.

Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of The Law [are] just before God, but the DOERS of The Law (The Torah) shall be justified.

-------

John 3:19-21
3:19 And this is the condemnation, that Light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than Light, because their deeds were evil.
3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the Light, neither cometh to the Light, lest his deeds should be revealed.
3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the Light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Excerpt below from:

FACT: The pig was specifically designed to be a garbage disposal unit and clean up the messes others leave behind. It was built for that job, NOT to be eaten. A pig will eat virtually anything in its path, including excrement and its own young, and as a result of its eating habits and the way it was designed, it carries the toxins, malignant microbes and parasites it consumes in its meat and fat. These built-in toxins help the pig decompose faster once its job of “filtering” the garbage is done, making the entire waste management process as efficient as possible. That’s why we’ve been told not to even touch their carcasses, much less consume them.

Pig parasites
FACT:
There is a laundry list of diseases that can be contracted from ingesting this filthy animal which have no known medical cure. And in case you didn’t know, pig fat isn’t hydrolyzed in the human body; it is deposited in the adipose tissue, where it can accumulate and actually replace human fat cells. A literal case of becoming what you eat.

The rest of the land animals and birds listed as off limits in the Diet (Lev. 11; Deut. 14) fall into the same category; i.e. they were designed for specific tasks, e.g. to be scavengers and clean up disgusting messes, NOT to be eaten by humans. They are described simply as being UNCLEAN to YOU, so everyone can understand. People even make jokes about unclean animals, because of what they eat, which illustrate why they should be avoided. Like the following:-

A vulture gets on a plane carrying two dead raccoons. The flight attendant says, “Sorry sir, only one carrion item per passenger.”

God Forbid!
Exactly.

Deuteronomy 14:7-8
14:7 Nevertheless these YE SHALL NOT EAT of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; [as] the camel, and the hare, and the rabbit: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; [therefore] they [are] unclean unto you.
14:8 AND THE SWINE, BECAUSE it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, IT [IS] UNCLEAN UNTO YOU: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.

Sura 2:172-173
2:172. O ye who believe! Eat of the good things that We have provided for you, and be grateful to God, if it is Him ye worship.
2:173. He hath only forbidden you dead meat (Leviticus 22:8), and blood (Leviticus 3:17), and THE FLESH OF SWINE Deuteronomy 14:7-8), and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of God (Deuteronomy 32:17). But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then is he guiltless. For God is Oft-forgiving Most Merciful.

I don’t know why this is even being discussed. Those that partake in eating swine, would you eat vultures? The harms clearly outweigh the benefits, why not choose a more wholesome animal with a cleaner diet to add to your plates?

Can anybody explain this puzzling verse?:
God says we can eat "everything", so did he later change his mind and say "except pork"?
"Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything" (Genesis 9:3)

Can anybody explain these puzzling verses?:
Firstly, right from the start of the Bible God says we can eat "everything", so did he later change his mind and say "except pork"?
"Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything" (Genesis 9:3)
From the start in the garden and after the fall, humans were only given a vegetarian diet. After the Flood, the verse you posted, God allowed the eating of meat. But there is a mention of clean and unclean animals when Noah is being given instructions.

Gen 7:2
Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female

So they did have some knowledge of the two types of animals.

Secondly, likewise he also banned locusts-
"All flying insects that swarm are unclean to you; do not eat them" (Deuteronomy 14:19),
but later we find that John the baptist ate them.! -
"John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey" (Matt 3:4)
Did he though?

Leviticus 11
21Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth; 22Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind. 23But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you

I do not know Jack from Squat, but I will try to answer this question as best I can.

Excellent question. This is confusing unless you read all of the scripture that God has provided.

23But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you
Excellent answer, only trees were planted in the Garden for food with the exception of one.

Gen 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

We still need to read all the scripture provided by God to get to the final answer.

Thanks to the confusion that came as a result of eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden, we have religious doctrine that ignores other parts of God's word, and the parts that are not ignored are misinterpreted which causes more confusion. As a result most Jews ignore the New Testament and the Quran, most Muslims ignore the Old Testament, and the New Testament, and most Christians ignore most of the Old Testament, and the Quran.

The final answer to this question is that God did indeed provide everything that lives for food with the exception of cannibalism.

We are only to eat the unclean out of necessity:

Sura 2
2:173. He hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of God. But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then is he guiltless. For God is Oft-forgiving Most Merciful.

Sura 5
5:4. Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than "I AM"; that which hath been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which hath been (partly) eaten by a wild animal; unless ye are able to slaughter it (in due form) that which is sacrificed on stone (altars); (forbidden) also is the division (of meat) by raffling with arrows: that is impiety. This day have those who reject Faith given up all hope of your religion: yet fear them not but fear Me. This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you, submission to My Will, as your religion. But if any is forced by hunger, with no inclination to transgression, "I AM" is indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura 6
6:145. Say: "I find not in the Message received by me by inspiration any (meat) forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be dead meat, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of swine,- for it is an abomination - or, what is impious, (meat) on which a name has been invoked, other than "I AM"'s." But (even so), if a person is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- thy Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura 16
16:115. He has only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and any (food) over which the name of other than "I AM" has been invoked. But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then "I AM" is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Another question- modern food hygiene rules are very strict, so if pork is bad for us, why haven't the medical profession ever said so?

Food fads come and go all the time so we shouldn't take them seriously..:)
For example there was a big "Eat more roughage" drive some years ago, so I started eating shredded wheat and had a series of terrible abdominal cramps until the penny dropped and I ditched SW completely..:)

God's COMMANDS are NOT a "food fad".

Every Commandment, Statute and Judgment found in God's Law, including the perfect, agricultural policy and the perfect healthy diet, were provided for our individual and collective benefit, to protect us from evil.

It is the doom of mankind that we ignorantly/arrogantly choose to disregard His perfect instruction, mistakenly believing we know better than our Creator and Healer. If only the penny could drop and people would ditch their egos and filthy, selfish habits to seek instead "the bread of life" (food for the soul) that can heal from within.

Matthew 4:3-4
4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Deut. 8:1-3).

Leviticus 11:4-8
11:4 Nevertheless these shall ye NOT eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: [as] the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he [is] unclean unto you.
11:5 And the rabbit, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he [is] unclean unto you.
11:6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he [is] unclean unto you.
11:7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he [is] unclean to you.
11:8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they [are] unclean to you.

Matthew 8:28-34
8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come here to torment us before The Time?
8:30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.
8:31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.
8:32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.
8:33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.
8:34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought [him] that he would depart out of their coasts.

Jesus was Jewish, the Rabbi's Rabbi... he never ate pork. Its nonsense to claim it was permissible. If you want to eat it, just do so and stand on that... no need to hold a scriptural, mental Olympics to excuse it. It is what it is...

Ah, but the big question is whether God's law forbidding eating pork was only meant for the Old T people in a specific time window because of a bout of temporary livestock disease, or is it also meant for us too?
No, that isn't the big question; the big question is how could anyone possibly believe that our changeless God changed His Mind about what is right/good/clean and what is wrong/evil/unclean.

Malachi 3:6 For I [am] the "I AM", I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

For example eating locusts was forbidden in the OT-
"All flying insects that swarm are unclean to you, do not eat them" (Deuteronomy 14:19)

Yet they formed part of John the baptist's diet in the New T-
"John's clothes were made of camel's hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey" (Matt 3:4)

And Paul said in the NT-
"...every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer (1 Tim 4: 4-5)
This is more of the same broken record your "self" plays for you, to reinforce its satanic eating habits, which will eventually get you (the spiritual-Being/Soul) thrown in The Fire on Judgment Day, for continuing to serve it instead of God, isn't it?

You've already been shown your error now multiple times. Stop wiggling like the parasitic worms in the pork your human seems to fancy and accept correction, to take a step closer to Christ.

There are many things in the OT such as "kill gays and witches" "stone adulteresses", take revenge ("eye for eye"), don't eat pork etc, so are we to blindly follow all the old laws or use our God-given commonsense to realise which ones no longer apply?
PS- If the Old T was all we needed, why did God send Jesus to give us the New T?..:)

Question- The Old T forbad the eating of locusts, yet in the New T we findJohn the baptist tucking into them, so was he disobeying God or did he know the Old T dietary laws no longer applied?
No it didn't.
I already told you in post #208.
Locusts are allowed (i personally wouldn't but John was not being disobedient).

Sorry, I mistakenly thought locusts were on God's don't eat list.
But the big question is whether the Old T dietary laws still apply nowadays?
Jesus seemed to be saying "No they don't"-
"...whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” (Thus he declared all foods clean)" (Mark 7: 15-20 )

Matthew 5:17-20
5:17 Think NOT that I am come to destroy The Law, or the Prophets: I am NOT come to destroy, but to fulfill [to fully preach The Law (The Torah) and fulfill the prophecies about the first coming of the Messiah].
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass from The Law, till ALL be fulfilled.
5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least COMMANDments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in The Kingdom of heaven
[the lowest of the low in God's Eyes]: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in The Kingdom of heaven.
5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall EXCEED [the righteousness] of the scribes (lawyers) and pharisees (politicians), ye shall in no case enter into The Kingdom of heaven.

John 5:42-47
5:42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
5:44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that [cometh] from God only?
5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is [one] that accuseth you, [even] Moses, in whom ye trust.
5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
5:47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

John 7:16-17
7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but His that sent me.
7:17 If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or [whether] I speak of myself.

There are no "gays"; there are filthy sodomites/homosexuals, etc., which is an abomination to God. It should be self-evident that once the lid to Pandora's box has been opened, every unnatural, sexually deviant abominable behavior will eventually not only be tolerated, but mandated by made-up human rules/legislation, exactly as has happened.

The "witches" were (and still are) the pharmacists, mixing up their unnatural combinations and abominations (witches' brew), all of which were and still are poisonous to the human body. It should be self-evident that once the lid to Pandora's box has been opened, every unnatural, abominable potion made and sold will eventually increase human suffering, injury and death to the point that, coupled with war ("legalized" murder), there would be no flesh saved , which is exactly where we are headed.

"Legalizing" adultery, has helped destroy the family unit, which is the basic building block of a healthy, civilized society. Our fidelity/loyalty to God is likened to marriage because both are relationships that are based upon trust, truth and honor, all of which are sorely lacking today because of our refusal to keep The Law that God gave us for our benefit, to protect us from evil.

As our God-given common-sense should make crystal clear, we do NOT know better than God, Whom we should be learning to trust and obey without question or pause, instead of blindly following the traditions and doctrines of men (including legislation, policies, religious doctrines, rites and rituals, etc.).

Deuteronomy 12:8 Ye shall not do after all [the things] that we do here this day, every man whatsoever [is] right in his own eyes.

PS- If the Old T was all we needed, why did God send Jesus to give us the New T?..:)
God sent His Christ in the body of Jesus to pay for our past sins (Romans 3:25) and to show us, by example (John 14:6) that WITH God we not only can keep His Law, but in keeping His Law/Commandments we can choose Life and Good over death and evil (Deut. 30:15-20).

IF we would have obeyed God and kept His Law/Commandments, as we promised to do, there would have been no need for Christ to have suffered the agony of the cross inside the body of Jesus. The fault for that is ours, because of our penchant for choosing sin/crime over God.

Hebrews 8:7-12
8:7 For IF that first [Covenant] had been [followed] faultlessly, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8:8 For finding fault WITH THEM, He saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a New Covenant with the House of Israel [ten "Lost" tribes] and with the House of Judah:
8:9 Not according to The Covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued NOT in My Covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
8:10 For this [is] The Covenant that I will make with the House of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put My Laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to Me a people:
8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know Me, from the least to the greatest.
8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

This is why Christ said that anyone who hasn't learned to "sing the NEW SONG", i.e. keep BOTH the Old Covenant AND the New Covenant will NOT be among those redeemed from the Earth

Revelation 14:1-4
14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the Mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many "waters", and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
14:3 And they sung as it were a New Song (Isaiah 42:10) before the Throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that "Song" except the hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand, which were redeemed from the Earth.
14:4 These are they which were not corrupted by women; for they are pure. These are they which follow the Lamb wheresoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, [being] the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb (obeying God NOT women).

Revelation 15:3 And they sing the "Song of Moses" (Old Covenant - Deut. 31) the servant of God, AND the "Song of the Lamb" (New Covenant), saying, Great and marvellous [are] Thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true [are] Thy Ways, Thou King of the holy people.
