So the deacon in my church says fornication isnt what people think, it's actually not premarrital sex but to treat others ill. She learned that in her education and says it's from catholic beliefs. And well ,some places in the bible say things like Lots daughters slept with him to get pregnant and didnt say anything about fornication.

Is she right?

She's remarkably dense and probably very naive....akin to "scholars" who believe the KJV fell from Heaven after God translated the Bible into English for Good King Jimmy John.

Quite a few “bad things” in the Bible are simply reported without stating if those events were right or wrong. A number of people had multiple wives but the Bible never teaches polygamy.

As far as getting with people outside marriage, committing to someone physically while not intending to be with them seems to have an effect on people. I have know people who have slept with hundreds of others and they all seem to have lost the ability to truly feel love and connection. In that sense, sexual sins hurt the people taking part in them. Sometimes God tells us things for our own good…

Exactly what I mean! What about the polygamy? She means sex IS the marriage and thats why Jesus says "You have many wives" to some. Could this be so?

And yes Im on your side here and have lived by this (failing and succeeding) since many years so when she says this I'm thinking of all the "candy" I could have had..without the guilt.

OR this could be a MAJOR mindf**k to make me sin, the swedish church approves of homosexuality and all kinds of sin so this wouldnt be surprising..

Personally I've noticed that as a woman one bonds to the man via sex and of course by socialising and when the relationship heads south, it hurts like a mofo, however it would have anyway because one bonds in other ways than sex. I dont feel I've become desensitised at all but then again I havent had 100 partners or even fifty but to my standards, there were some. I knew a girl tht said she had had over 100 and she was very emotionally cold but she was also mentally ill, so..

Fornication is a crime, irrespective of specific religions and cultures. And before the French Revolution, it was punished by the state. In the modern era, it's become not only legalized in the west but also openly promoted.

Legalizing fornication??????! I don’t agree with fornication, but when did it ever get legalized. I didn’t know that was under the law.

If you fornicate nobody will throw a sweat, let alone throw you in jail, in western countries. It is definitely legalized.
Cheating/adultery on a spouse is still taboo (despite the prevalence of things like "cuck" culture in Liberal demographics).
But fornication is fully accepted in post-60s Western world, in terms of legally and culturally.

So it was never against the law?

Was, before the 60s. There has been a gradual privatization of these matters since the French Revolution, where they decided that people sleeping around wasn't a matter of the courts anymore. It used to be a criminal act (as it rightfully is) but with the rise of Secularism and Liberalism, western law has become more than just "tolerant" of it. Porn is legal in the west and a big industry, which just compliments the sentiments culturally in the west.
Prostitution on the other hand is still illegal in a lot of these countries (even though Onlyfans somehow gets a free pass), though fully legal in the most liberal countries in the west.

Yes, it is wrong. If in Christ, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) and only the marriage bed is pure and undefiled (Hebrews 13:4). Also 1 Corinthians 7 speaks to how single and married people should conduct themselves.

Before the 60s would people get thrown into jail for fornicating?

I suggest that you research for yourself whether your deacon is right or not. There are different words in the Hebrew and Greek Bibles that are translated "fornication"--a good concordance will lead you in the right direction. I have Strong's (in electronic form) and there are others that are as robust as Strong's.

Here is a link to Nave's entry regarding the topic of "lasciviousness" (to which a search for the word "fornication" leads).

Good luck.
