lol why so feisty?
For someone who can't even bother to read the thread you sure do have a lot of venom to spit regarding this topic.
What were you saying earlier? You don't look down on sex workers? Well you sure do, and it's showing.
I personally am for the protection of sex workers, even if everything the woman says in the vice video said doesn't align with my personal beliefs.
And feminism isn't monolithic, there are many different schools of feminism. Two feminists may have totally different opinions on this topic. Does that mean one is better than the other? No, their views differ simply because they may come from dfferent backgrounds, have a different race or different life experiences. I always say I dont identify with mainstream feminism as it is mostly for white middle-class women. I'm well aware that there are sex workes who don't share the same privilege as a white middle-class sex worker who goes into the industry because she doesn't want to work at a minimum wage job, is bored with her life and wants to have new sexual experiences and get paid for it. Yet it still doesn't mean we should belittle the very real risks (r*pe, assault) that they're encountering while being in that industry.
I visited poor countries where girls as young as 12 would go out with grown men and have sex with them - foreigners, in exchange for money because they couldn't go to school and lived in miserable conditions. My heart breaks for these girls, it really does, but who's gonna find a better job for them??...You? Obviously not, but you're here bitching about sex workers wanting to be protected and respected.
I am not bitching about it. I want sex workers to be respected. What i want more is sex to not be commodified. Jesus fucking christ. Women using the patriarchy for their own benefit are not feminist.
