Those practices that you described your nurses doing to you to you during your fever, are known even by my great-grandmother.
That's why I said folk remedy.
That’s because they are a tried and tested way of reducing fever, long before anti-pyretics existed. They are nevertheless clinically based and used together with anti-pyretic medication.
They used to bleed people with fevers and all kinds of strange things, that are not used now. Nor are the other things you mentioned like potato poultices or sheets wrapped in alcohol.

Im just trying to point out that fevers can be controlled by other methods apart from anti-pyrrhic medication, as long as they have recognised clinical value.
It’s unrealistic to expect that you will ever eradicate the possibility of developing a fever, altogether.

A few other considerations, including this interesting quote I found in the comment section of Matt Taibbi:

“the NEJM and the AMA are as political as the DNC or RNC. Fully half of all science is fraudulent - that's an estimate by the editor of The Lancet, one of the leading med journals in the world. Many scientists and journals get money from Gates; who do you think will get their allegiance: the guy with the cash, or nameless, faceless patients? As someone who works with these folks, and with the FDA and various drug companies, I can testify that they are crooked as hell. All they care about is money and power and influence.
As for studies, you didn't hear about the Stanford study that shows the level of infection is 50 times higher than we know about, b/c of the large number of asymptomatic cases? This is a finding that crosses all countries. Consistently, over and over, we find a death rate of between 0.1% and 0.4%, which is about like a bad strain of flu.
Here is the Stanford study: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.14.20062463v1.full.pdf
Here's a BMJ study showing that 80% of CV19 patients are asymptomatic. https://www.bmj.com/content/369/bmj.m1375
A graphical analysis of the European monitoring data impressively shows that, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE MEASURES TAKEN, OVERALL MORTALITY REMAINED IN THE NORMAL RANGE or below by March 25, and often significantly below the levels of previous years. Only in Italy (65+) was the overall mortality rate somewhat increased (probably for several reasons), but it was still BELOW PREVIOUS FLU SEASONS.

I would love it if you can please message me with any of these other methods you might know, so we don't clog this thread. I've scoured the Internet, consulted doctors, consulted pharmacists, looked into traditional remedies, for something that might finally work well for me. Maybe there's something you've heard that I haven't tried yet. Thank you!!

The end game here is eugenics, genetic engineering /modification/ enhancement- how’s that for selfish?
It may sound like a stretch but try and see the big picture here. Remember, Bill Gates is a large part of the solution. ....

The Economist, featured an article (April 2019) titled, How genetic engineering will reshape humanity:

“NEW GENETIC technologies are exhilarating and terrifying. Society might overcome diseases by tweaking individual genomes or selecting specific embryos to avoid health problems. But it may also give rise to "superhumans" who are optimised for certain characteristics (like intelligence or looks) and exacerbate inequalities in society.”

“It’s not that hard to imagine future scenarios when humans would need to genetically alter ourselves in order to survive a rapid change in our environment resulting from global warming or intense cooling following a nuclear war or asteroid strike, a runaway deadly virus, or some kind of other future challenge we can’t today predict. Genetic engineering, in other words, could easily shift from being a health or lifestyle choice to becoming an imperative for survival. Preparing responsibly for these potential future dangers may well require we begin developing the underlying technologies today, while we still have time.”

“If and when it becomes possible for some parents to give their children enhanced IQs, lifespans and resistance to disease, we will have to ask what this means for everyone else. Some will see these parents as first-adopters paving the way for everyone else, like the first privileged people buying smartphones. Others will call them usurpers laying the foundation for dangerously divided societies.” https://www.economist.com/open-future/2019/04/25/how-genetic-engineering-will-reshape-humanity

Fast forward to today....

National Lab Scientists Work to Reprogram Genes to Fight COVID-19

“This essentially entails using the technology to upregulate or downregulate important proteins that are involved with virus infection. Once that works in a cell culture and dish, the next component scientists are pursuing is how to safely translate it into humans. The delivery of such biological treatments is an area that is also undergoing rapid development, Negrete noted. One of those methods is a nucleic acid vaccine. He explained it this way: “Instead of making components of the virus, purifying them, then injecting them into humans, you're sending in the code—messenger RNA—into the cells and you make your own body produce the antigens of the virus to stimulate the immune response.”

I’ve lost a lot of respect for this site and whomever is writing the articles. Half of the articles now are in quotes. Focus on the entertainment industry and conspiracy theories. Leave the science discussion for those that actually study sciences. They know what they’re talking about. Not politicians or bloggers. Wear your fucking masks so those that are immunocompromised aren’t at risk. It’s a damn mask, how much easier can it get to not spread viruses? I hate this site sometimes, not everything is a damn conspiracy!
Do you honestly think that its going to stop with/at the masks? Use 9/11 as a history lesson. How much more are you prepared to give up? "They" are already floating the idea of E.T viruses that we should be concerned about. So if an asteroid from Mars crashes into the earth tomorrow, supposedly laden with viruses and people die from whatever else and they demand that whoever wants to go out in public has to wear a hazmat suit. Are you going to do that too?

Ha It's funny cause masks actually lower your immune system, so you're basically making yourself sick!
You don't have any logic about the topic of wearing mask, if you did, you would know they're bad for you because you're breathing your own air which is bad. You're not protecting anybody because there is no pandemic, just brainwashed sheep following orders from the big guys even though there is no "Deadly virus". If that was true, we'd all be dead and it wouldn't matter if you wore a stupid mask or not. Stores are now opening up? Oh that wouldn't happen if this was deadly, everyone would be in purge mode. Oh btw, Anthony fauci said in an interview that people shouldn't be wearing masks now, and it only protects a few droplets anyway! Hows that for them lying into your face, what a hypocrite he is.
You should really study about the effects that wearing mask do to you, don't listen to the fakestream media.
You say there is no pandemic and brainwashed sheep in the same sentence. Which is a little ironic.
You see one of the things which genuinely keeps me reading on this forum, is trying to figure out who has actually been brainwashed by whom. I mean, I’m really, really confused by it.
How are you so sure that I’ve been brainwashed into my boringly mainstream thoughts and beliefs? What makes you so certain that you haven’t been brainwashed into your enlightened way of thinking.
I’m pretty sure this is a question some of the greatest thinkers of our times, have pondered for centuries.
For fear of sounding crazy...and I mean it’s always a possibility that I am...I can’t even be sure that the colour green looks the same to me as it does to you?
How can you categorically state that I am brainwashed and you are not? The best that any of us can hope for, is to take the information that’s presented to us and decide on the basis of that, what is real and what is not.
At this point to continuing in the belief that a pandemic doesn’t exist, in view of what is going on around us, is not only unfortunate, as Lady Bracknell herself would declare, but careless as well.

Bring out the Leeches!

You just implied her great-grandmother is a throwback from the dark ages.

And you actually took credit for those tried and tested methods... I marvel.

You should start a new thread, for posters who enjoy off topic lectures, from someone who insults their families, and speaks to them, as though they are retarded.

I don’t see too many countries following the US lead on the handling of Covid-19.
latin america copies the US. i have no idea about africa or SE asia.

The US response to this has been disastrous. It will be used as an example of how not to deal with it.
agreed. the lockdown was totally unwarranted and wrong.

Trump doesn’t even understand the scientific evidence, let alone follow it.
my scientific evidence... or yours?

That was a side note...I saw many people walking around yesterday with their masks below their noses.
thats the, "i think its real, but i hate wearing a mask, so i will just peek my nose out so i can breathe" contingent. those people are on the fence (theyre not scared enough to wear it properly) and are open to hearing our side. go and talk to them.

So you don’t believe that there are symptomatic carriers? What about presymptomatic carriers? You do understand there are some viruses which shed in the prodromal phase and some which do not. Therefore, based on the behaviour of -some viruses there is every reason to believe Covid-19 can spread in either asymptomatic or presymptomatic phases.
Also, because the severity of symptoms vary hugely, it is possible that people may not even be particularly aware they have the condition. If you don’t know you have the virus, you can’t take precautions to minimise spreading it? That’s why people are being urged to socially isolate, wear masks etc. I mean, it really isn’t rocket science.
I know it’s a huge inconvenience to some people but it seems reasonable to me, to presume that asymptomatic transmission is a possibility until it is categorically ruled out.
As for the US? The reason the cases are continuing to rise despite mask wearing and social isolation is possibly because you’re just not doing it effectively there. The US is playing at social isolation, while your President plays fast and loose with people’s lives - humiliating himself daily, in the process! Meanwhile, his supporters follow blindly on!
A jet engine can fall out of the sky too, but we don't walk around with a sense of needing to "duck for cover". Do we?

It's funny to me how you wrote there is "every" reason to believe people can spread Covid-19 presymptomatic. In reality, you have one reason to believe that. Just because it can happen, or it appears to happen shouldn't be the end-all for counter-arguments.

BTW I never said I wouldn't take precautions. This is about the masks and their highly debatable usefulness. Some studies have figured that if everyone wore masks we would reduce transmission by 16%. Now that's better than nothing, but masks definitely don't seem worth the trouble we are putting into them. It seems more logical that the mask agenda is just good old fashion greed at this point.

Overnight a billion-dollar mask industry was born. But I do agree that the U.S is just playing at these pandemic policies. I would just say they are playing monopoly. Basically I would argue our lives are in our own hands. Most of us just have little chance of ever actually owning much property.

Water is “boiling” right up until the point it boils. It’s absurd to me that this is going to be the boiling point. Absolutely absurd.
Seems as good as any to me. Treat everyone like they are the problem, there will be backlash.

i dont see riots going on over this, jess. i do agree there will be rioting and civil war in the future, but not yet.

whether someone things the masks are useful or useless or corona is deadly or a fraud is secondary to the issue of mandatory vaccination. every person i talk to all agree that they do NOT want a mandatory vax. and thats good enough for me.
