Johnson has added now that the police will be able to take action where people are not complying with the new measures:

"If you don’t follow the rules the police will have the powers to enforce them, including through fines and dispersing gatherings.

To ensure compliance with the government’s instruction to stay at home, we will immediately close all shops selling non-essential goods, including clothing and electronic stores and other premises including libraries, playgrounds and outdoor gyms, and places of worship.

We will stop all gatherings of more than two people in public – excluding people you live with.

And we’ll stop all social events, including weddings, baptisms and other ceremonies, but excluding funerals.''

Maybe you misunderstood something, because no where did I imply that.

If people would listen voluntarily they would not be giving the governments the fucking ammunition they need to do this forcefully. Do you think I want to see the military sent in? Cops enforcing this? Absolutely not. But that’s where this is going to gonif people just keep on doing whatever they want when they should know better.

How the heck can people stay home anyway when they've GOT to go out to buy food?
In fact I nipped round the corner to the grocer's half an hour ago here in Plymouth UK to buy a few tins of stuff, there was only me and another couple of customers in there and none of us were panic buying, and the shelves were just as full as ever except for toilet rolls, bread and milk.
I wouldn't buy bread and milk anyway because it soon goes stale/ sour, I shall nip out again tomorrow to hunt down some powdered milk.

You are allowed to go out for basics...calm down...supermarkets are open and stocked (with most basics anyways).

The issue here is the mayor limited public transport frequencies...so for instance the central line (one of the busiest lines which runs from east to west London) is now running every 20 minutes, as opposed to the usual every 3 minutes. People are still working in key jobs like supermarkets, pharmacies, police, hospitals etc...on top of that, people are also going to hospital and GP appointments (I had one today but drove). By reducing transport, Sadiq Khan worsened the issue and now more people are being exposed to each other on already very very packed trains.

I think they should keep the transport flowing to ensure the steady flow of people, because judging by the images I've seen, they're like sardines on there!

Also, we are allowed to go for walks and exercise. To be honest, British police are quite lenient so I don't see this being a terrible thing.

Frozen veggies are being wiped out now. Although lima beans are still there. Signs are everywhere saying "limit 2 items of the same thing". Are people timing it to where they get there the second shipments come in of frozen veggies, TP, ground beef, etc.? I bet the items never get off the pallets. People probably just swoop in with crazed looks.

The grocery store staff looks almost shell-shocked to me. Well, stressed at the very least.

I was simply agreeing with you that people are stupid.

It's now been spun that because the public have "failed to act" in the advised manner now this justifies a more robust authoritarian approach. But it appears to be that our authorities failed to act way before we did which has now made the situation much much worse....but somehow the public get blamed.

A case in point here.

If people had just listened, avoided large crowds and gatherings, we wouldn't have to be on lockdown. It is for our own safety and I get that it isn't convenient and great...sure divorce rates may go up after this and there'll be a baby boom but honestly, lets put the theories aside and focus on protecting not just ourselves but the vulnerable in our midst...

The sooner we go in to lockdown, the sooner the worst of this will be over.

When you have the president of the United States getting on tv for weeks calling it a hoax and then admitting it’s a problem but only for the old and sick what the hell did anyone think was going to happen?

The young and healthy and extreme right wing fools are not going to let anyone infringe on their freedom of movement when they aren’t effected or it’s all just a democratic/socialist plot
