The way they dunked his head under water here is eerily similar to how they baptize people passed infancy. I definitely think they're mocking it and using it as an baptism/initiation into the occult.

I agree about his shady personality, because I know guys like him in my life very well. Intelligent, well mannered, smart, usually play confident, kind, carrying character in public, but when doors closed you see jealous and not so good men, who's openly show their arrogance in circle of friends cs absolutely sure they are the smartest in the universe. They often say smth offensive to other people, sometimes in public if you can trigger them well. I can't be sure, but I see nmj00n as this type of guy.
