Why pray when it’s all part of God’s plan? Why would He want to “change his decision” from your prayer if He already knows best?

And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. (51:56 Quran)

When you go up this morning was it in your own bed? Do you have a nice comfy mattress, fluffy pillows and a few warm blankets? Have you realized some people sleep in cardboard boxes on concrete exposed to the elements?

When you woke this morning, did you get some coffee? Maybe a bagel, maybe even a multi course meal? Cereal, toast, eggs and a couple of pancakes? While you anticipate whats for lunch did you know there are a billion people who are lucky to eat once a day, if that?

What did you do after breakfast? Turn on a $1000 computer while more then a billion people live on a dollar a day, if that? Maybe you access VC with an expensive Samsung phone, maybe you're lucky enough to have a $1000 Apple phone? Its kinda crazy because many who make apple products are literally slave labor, lucky to make a few dollars weekly working unfathomable hours in absolutely horrible conditions.

Would you like me to extend and compound on this?

Your job, your family, your house, your friends, your kids. Even your very health. The fact that you had energy to get out of bed, the fact that you have lived yet another day are all gifts from the Almighty. The reality is your heart does not beat without His permission.

Your water is not bitter simply because He allows it. Water alone is a massive blessing the entire creation relies upon.
"Have you seen the water that you drink? Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We who bring it down?
If We willed, we could’ve made it bitter, so why aren’t you grateful?" (56:68-70 Quran)

Have you ever considered what life would be like without water? Many are predicting the future will be wars fought over water, may we not be alive in those times. With the internet using up massive quantities of water, its turning into a reality. What would you do if clear, clean water was not freely available from your tap on command?

What is the point of all of this?

Prayer in and of itself is worship. It is remembrance of the Almighty. It is the acknowledgement that absolute control rests with Him and Him alone. We connect with the Sustainer, the Maintainer, the Creator with prayer.

1.jpg

Prayer in itself, is gratitude. It is being thankful for the uncountable blessings we receive every single day. Have you ever sat and thought of all the blessings in your life, have you tried to count them? It is not possible to count them all, but have you ever tried?

Sure, people ask the Almighty for all kinds of things in prayer in all kinds of religions. What the Creator decided from the beginning is Qadr, otherwise known as divine decree. Do you think the Almighty didn't know that little Johnny was gonna ask for a red bike on January the 5th, 1949? Do you think He was unaware of an area that was suffering from drought desperate for water which caused many to pray for rain?

And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darkness of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record. (6:59 Quran)

The Almighty is the possessor of absolute, all encompassing knowledge.

Have you not considered that Allah knows what is in the heavens and what is on the earth? There is in no private conversation three but that He is the fourth of them, nor are there five but that He is the sixth of them - and no less than that and no more except that He is with them [in knowledge] wherever they are (58:7 Quran)

From the very beginning up until the last second before judgement day the Almighty knows exactly what will happen. Can prayer change qadr? Yes of course, but that change was written from the very beginning. God knew it and was well aware of it centuries before that idea ever popped into your head.

God has complete and all encompassing knowledge. This is why Jesus not knowing the time of the hour is problematic as the Almighty is thee source of knowledge. God knows you better then you know yourself.

Indeed We have created man, and We know whatever thoughts his inner self develops, and We are closer to him than (his) jugular vein
(50:60 quran)

God is literally the source of everything. The Alpha and the Omega. The First and the Last. The Beginning and the End. He is your protector. He is
your provider. He is the one who feeds you and grants you shelter. He is the one who put those clothes on your back. He is the one who keeps you safe from harm.

When is the last time you said.. thank you?

If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more (14:7 Quran)

And whatever of blessings and good things you have, it is from Allah.” (16:53)

Hmm... I don't think prayer is limited only to requests.

Communication is encouraged... most of which is for your benefit-- well, our benefit. Which leads directly to what @Daze said-- which needs nothing added--> gratitude.

Good thread topic.

I read about half of Daze’s response, but got bored and started to scroll quicker until I saw Allah.
Then I was like yawn.

God does have a plan.
However, you get to choose if you want to be a part of it.
You are an individual child of God. You are unique. Your whole purpose is to be unique.

As His child, there will never be anyone else like you.
You will be charming at times, and you will be a tantrum throwing brat at other times.

Your Father wants you to love Him, because you want to. Not because you are a robot or even an angel.
All of His plans were made simply so that we can have a future that is of purity. No hatefulness, no greed, no destruction, no pain. The descriptions go on and on.
He wants a relationship with you.
You absolutely have the ability to pray to your Father, and He WILL hear you.
He will always do what He thinks is best, for whatever reason His almighty wisdom may have, but Father is absolutely reasonable.
He wants your passion and desire to talk to Him.
The whole basis of your knowledge of human relationships began as He created You as His child.

Many people have awful parents. This is satans(the oppositions) work. Your existence was never meant to be like that.
I have, and am a very caring and listening parent. That is because I was created in my Father’s own image.
As are you.

@OP / @TrustNo1 : I am not sure of others but I can tell you my desire from TheCreator, from my Life, is Peace!

I remember, I pray, I plead for Timeless Peace. Cannot be a better blessing than having Peace i.e. TheCreator Himself/Itself.

Think of the divine will as the entire universe and everything in it
No matter what choice you make, youre still in the same universe...but you get to experience it in accordance with your choices.

Youre not praying for a new universe, youre praying to steer yourself in any direction you prefer, in one universe.

Some people do think prayer is not a necessity because God will go through with His plans as you point out. However Jesus told us to pray that God's will might be done (Matthew 6:9-10). That means if believers in Christ don't pray, God's desires will not be carried out on earth. Our prayers are essential for God's will to be done in our lives and in the lives of those we pray for. We have to ask God of our own free will to come into our lives and do His will in them.

Matthew 7:7-12, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets."

"Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him. Prayer does not bring God down to us, but brings us up to Him."
Steps to Christ, p 93

Prayer does not change God; but it does change us and our relationship with Him. It places us in the channel of blessings and in the frame of mind in which God can consistently and safely grant our requests.

When Jesus was on earth, He needed prayer to be united with the Father. He left us an example of a life of prayer. And just like Christ, we learn to empty ourselves of ourselves and become more and more dependent upon God through prayer.

Please contact the man whose name is at the bottom...or any Chrisitan who can speak Arabic really.

Let me know if this is unacceptable. I"m happy to point out Allah in the Bible.
Since Allah is literally the Arabic word for God, as you can imagine it is everywhere in the Bibles written in Arabic.

Thanks. End of the day peace is what we all want. Security in our homes and our effects. Peace in both mind and body.

One of Gods names in Islam is As-Salam, which literally means "the Peace".

While i argue with many here and sometimes it gets ugly, my avatar is the Arabic word for peace.

You have more then likely heard the Muslim greeting "as-salaam alaykum", which means peace be upon you.

When you consider all of these facts and the medias representation of Islam the past 2 decades, well more then a few have been compelled to look into Islam itself.

Theres a reason Islam is the fastest growing faith on the planet and I'm not trying to sell Islam to you. Just saying at the end of the day everyone of us want peace and peace comes from the Creator for indeed...

I wrote this early in the morning and didnt explain it properly.

Every one of us exists in our own universe. The Divine Will extends to every single possible permutation possible at any point. Every single possibility, option, ability IS the Divine Will.
The point prophet Mohammed made was that you cant regret the past, you did what was written for you.
Another was that no matter what choice or path you take, you cannot escape your destiny.

What that means is certain things are supposed to happen no matter what choice you made. I dont think they are specific things but general things lioe calamities/losses or things youre supppsed to learn, types of people youre meant to meet along the way.

Thou hast made us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee.~ Saint Augustine

St Gregory of Sinai clearly states that forgetfulness of God is a disease of the soul and of the faculty of reason. It has a direct impact on human memory, which ends up divided, diffused and fragmented.

As I posted above prayer is for our benefit and how we get close to God. Its how we communicate with God and the Bible assures us that prayer is a two-way conversation between God and us.

Other reasons for praying are:

- Repentance and confession, ask God to forgive us

- Claiming God's promises

- Expressing faith in God

- Realising our need and help from God

- Intercessory prayer (praying of behalf of others)

- Praising God

- Thanksgiving

- Ask for the Holy Spirit to guide, inspire us, for His outpouring etc

There are many other reasons for prayer.

The Bible also tells us to believe and take God at His Word when we pray.

Mark 11:24, "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."

James 1:6-7, "But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord."

We should pray without ceasing, "pray without ceasing" (I Thessalonians 5:17, see also Romans 12:12 and Ephesians 6:18). This does not mean we should be constantly bowed to God in prayer, God knows we can't do that. However we should not neglect prayer and we should always be in a prayerful frame of mind whatever we do or wherever we are.

We are told, "If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear" ( Psalms 66:18, see also Isaiah 59:1-2 and James 4:3).

James tells us that all good and perfect gifts come from God, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning" (James 1:17).

When we pray, it must always be in the Spirit, "But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life" (Jude 1:20-21).

TFS blud. I have cognisance on Islamic greeting(s), et cetera. Albeit, rather than Al-Islam I am more inclined and interested towards 'Al-Ihsan', especially after perusing @AspiringSoul's remarks that demarcate the distinctions between both.

I am able to understand the Al-Ihsan viz.a.viz. Rumi, AlKhidr, et. al. characters predominantly.

Nevertheless, IMHO, there's only one Creator of the Universe, we human beings can/may call it by any name we want to. Its just semantics.

The script/text that we use to call/pronounce the name of TheCreator is also man/human made. Script/text came way after first Human being walked on the face of the Earth and way way way after TheCreator was already present, that emanated this marvellous of a Universe from within itself.

I believe, our/humanity's mutual beef is only with the world renowned paedoElites (or to some extent with our own minds lol).
