The man in the video is Joe Glenton.
We do a short investigation following the model of the user Daze, who looks at many forum threads and does investigations of the type "see more what he is associated with (this person, this media, this website), look at what else he supports", finding that they are related to JEW ZIO ISRAEL!
British politicians increasingly seek to silence criticism of wars abroad by emphasizing the need to “respect our boys.” But, veteran Joe Glenton tells Jacobin, many recruits who’ve seen the British army from the inside aren’t happy about being used to launder its image.
jacobin.com
Glenton spoke to Jacobin’s David Broder about the rise of nationalist pageantry around veterans, ex-military personnel’s identification with the army as an institution, and soldiers’ historical role in the wider working-class movement.
...
I’d suggest many veterans have no real politics at all. Anecdotally, they probably have a touch of the kind of ex-military sense of entitlement we see among Blazers but would find a lot of the super far-right stuff repulsive and — this is important for military people — attention-seeking. This also goes for the cosmic anti-vaxxer cohort of ex-forces people, who have increased in number.

Middleton is a good example of the Live, Laugh, Love, KILL influencer. A boy soldier, brutalized by bullying NCOs (non-commissioned officers), ends up in the Special Forces and goes on to become a toxic positivity snake oil salesman with a global following. And all the time he is trying to interpret the world through this useless lens — the lens of the military hard man — and being “canceled” (at least, in his mind) for saying poorly thought-out things about BLM, about powering through COVID-19 as an act of sheer Nietzschean will, and so on.

Over the past three years, a surge of Islamophobia, fueled by right-wing station GB News, has exposed the inadequacy of current regulations in curbing the influence of certain journalists who incite violence. GB News has transformed into a hub for far-right trolls, working to legitimize their rhetoric and serving as a nexus for hate speech, conspiracy theories, and the promotion of far-right ideas. GB News presenter and conspiracy theorist Neil Oliver has even argued that the riots are being “orchestrated” as part of a global elite conspiracy to impose Digital ID. Broadcasters’ regulator Ofcom has been conspicuously silent — underscoring the dangers in the current media environment.
For the last week, Britain has witnessed a horrifying wave of racist violence targeting Muslims and organized by far-right activists. The violent fascist gangs are feeding off the legitimization of racist ideas by Britain’s mainstream parties and media.

... Have you noticed how nowadays every politician likes to have a photo op next to squaddies? Not that that necessarily equates to genuine support for ‘the lads’, as it were.
We are now 10 years plus into this propaganda campaign which was ramped up when COVID-19 came. The military’s involvement in the crisis has been minor, but I’ve done research with Matt Kennard of Declassified that shows how the armed forces are exploiting COVID to solve a recruitment crisis. They’ve been quite successful on social media with hashtags like #InThisTogether to conflate COVID with military duty.

Underlying this is the increasingly dominant view that global climate breakdown and the many consequences of that evolving catastrophe, especially for poorer people, are a far greater challenge than the war in Ukraine.
It is ironic that NATO has completed a summit that was dominated by the conflict in Ukraine just as a belt of countries from Spain through to Turkey was experiencing extreme temperature surges as the Cerberus anticyclone weather system began to take hold. Italy, France, Spain, Croatia, Greece and Turkey are all expected to hit temperatures above 40°C, and Sardinia and Sicily may get to 48°C, potentially reaching the hottest temperatures ever recorded in Europe according to European Space Agency predictions.
Across the NATO member states, the connection is simply not made. NATO has been an alliance dedicated to military protection for well over 70 years, but it is a military alliance unsuited to meeting the world’s greatest security challenge: climate breakdown. It is a telling example of the saying: “If you only have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.”
The Southern Oscillation climate cycle is entering an El Niňo phase, which will combine with existing global heating to give years of seriously extreme weather extending through the mid and late 2020s. Indeed, the recent US/Mexican heat dome, eastern Canada wildfires, the Cerberus weather system across southern Europe and the severe floods in India are all early warnings of the far greater problems that will ensue without immediate and radical decarbonisation.
That might just lead to a badly needed change in our priorities. Spending billions on the military may make for high profitability but is entirely missing the point when it comes to the greatest security challenge facing the entire world.

Fascist riots have sparked calls for increased policing, but our oppressors will not be the ones to keep us safe
7 August 2024
...
Taking back ‘safety’
The situation is urgent: fascists have already successfully destroyed many community spaces and harmed our people, and more riots are planned. These have been dark days, but there have been some small reasons to take heart. We have seen places where fascist attacks have been thwarted when they have been outnumbered by anti-fascists, and witnessed our communities coming out to defend themselves rather than retreating.
These incidents give us hope that we can fight this not through increased policing, but through creating alternative infrastructure to support our communities. We need to work alongside and support those most directly targeted by these fascist attacks: migrants, asylum seekers, Muslims and racialised communities – particularly those living outside the heartlands and metropoles.
This is the time to utilise our pre-existing networks. The large networks of mobilisation and channels of communications we have built up in our campaigns against Israel’s genocide can become the bases of confronting fascism going forward, as can our anti-raids groups, Copwatch and tenants union networks. These can be places of solidarity and support, as well as our eyes on the ground against any local fascist movements.
We must also be prepared for police repression, including efforts to criminalise self-defence, or equate it to far-right violence. This includes equipping our communities with rights training for counter-demonstrations, as well as staying coordinated with groups that can provide legal and arrestee support if required.
The scale and speed of the far-right mobilisations of the last week have been shocking. But we should not forget how quickly the forces of progress have been able to claim the streets in truly mass numbers – for Black Lives Matter in 2020, for Palestine since October 2023 – and the layers of society we have managed to bring along in the process.
Our test now will be in our ability to consolidate those, and cohere an organised, direct response to paralyse and send Britain's far-right into retreat – and ultimately, defeat."

War torn countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen and Somalia have been some of the hardest hit and are in the UN’s list of most vulnerable countries to climate change. Ravaged by environmental degradation caused by war and the failure to secure legislation to address the impacts of climate change, these vulnerable countries are facing further economic and social insecurities which will have far reaching consequences for peace and stability in those regions. The impact of climate change is however not just restricted to these countries. Soaring temperatures, frequent and intense drought as well as floods, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and warming oceans are wreaking havoc across the globe.

Climate change can teach us a critical lesson about security. Carbon emissions do not recognise borders. It is not possible for any nation to shield itself from the effects of climate change using tanks or fighter jets. The only way to tackle the climate emergency is through global cooperation. Demilitarisation and peace are the best and perhaps the only ways to ensure that humanity has the capacity and resilience to respond to this crisis.
Only if the world’s leaders recognise that uniting to confront the threat of global heating is more important than any imperialist strategy or narrow economic interest, may we have a chance to avoid climate catastrophe. A secure nation in the end depends on a secure planet.

What work has StW Students been focusing on in the past year? And what kind of work will you be planning for 2021?
Obviously at the start of the pandemic we had to switch to online campaigning and we held several successful online meetings on Coronavirus, War and Sanctions, the Julian Assange case and War and the Climate Crisis.

The world is currently facing so many crises. What anti-war topics do you and other StW students tend to prioritise and why?
It’s often difficult to choose which topic to focus on because of the scale of imperialism and the number of crises we face.
I think the topics we tend to focus on are the ones which have broader links not only to the anti-war movement but other movements which students are involved in.
The War and Climate Crisis meeting was aimed at bringing together two causes which are actually closely linked and tying in anti-war campaigning with the incredible work student activists have been doing around climate change.
