Great article on Pinocchio! I would definitely say that the Blue Fairy, the Wood Spirit and Death are all the same ( the devil in disguise), you can see in the similarity of the traits ( purposely done, and he is the great deceiver). As well, the fact that they show Jesus still on the cross, as they do in many religions, is to show not the " remembrance" of Him, but to show he is dead ( which He is very alive!).
