Just wanna throw it out there again but an obstacle to their marketability is their race. So as much promise as there is with their fanbase and talent, being Asian in American entertainment is not really a thing. How many Asian singers can you think of at the same level as an Ariana Grande or Dj Khalid (popular in America)? You at least have some black and Latino rep.
Barely any, so it'll be a test to see how they do.

Yeah. I think about how Far East Movement, Asian-Americans mind you, had a club hit that led to nowhere. Now where are they? Not the best comparison. Definitely not on the same level as BTS. The struggle here for Asians is so real for them. I have Asian friends who complain about a lack of representation in the entertainment industry.

I don't think they're momentum is slowing anytime soon here. I'd be lying if I said I'm not anxious to see how long they will last. I'm basing this off of how fickle fans are. If a hotter boy band comes along and steal their spotlight, BTS can hang it up. America loves novelty. You have to be able to really catch our attention and keep it. Sooner or later it will wear off and all that will be left are the fans who support them no matter what.

agree. And it's very hard to have succes in the US if your songs are not in english and you are from a different race, almost impossible

Thinking about this one interviewer, Jimin said something in Korean and the interviewer without hesitation said, "I don't know what he said.":(

For the general populace, I don't think they're ready for BTS honestly. Anything is possible! Especially if the elite really wants to use them to their advantage.

Vevo is criteria for Grammys... and Yoongs said he wants a Grammy to be their next step. Like he did with Billboard...
Yeah and he seems to hint to whats about to come but to be honest getting a Grammy is quite hard especially if it's in a different language also sales and fans have no say in it it's all down to the quality of the album and judges but hey let's see if it actually comes true.

yeah thats why them having so many oportunities in the US is already a big deal
being invited to popular TV shows, award shows, signing with columbia and now VEVO means they have a lot of doors open for them

they are being pushed and they are getting these oportunities, how the general public in america will react to them is a different story

Yep. I recall hearing F.E.M actually were told to hide their faces with sunglasses to hide the fact that they were Asian. I remember some people at the time didn't even realise they weren't white despite the name. Why my friends we surprised to hear them go on American shows.
People are definitely fickle so they may be the niche "travelling circus" act but may make it big?

After seeing some reactions in regards to the BBMAs, I really can't see them being accepted by the public anymore. At this point, the public and industry seems more interested in ARMYs than them. Majority of their interviews are questions about their fandom, not even about their music. The fandom made it about them again because they constantly drown out the boys whenever they try to speak whether it's on TV shows or the awards. Even Jimin seemed like he threw some subtle shade about it. I could be wrong but there's too many people that have stated how ARMYs have prevented them from taking BTS seriously.

Also, some interviews seem closed off to them while others are open to them. But you get that everywhere. One even encouraged them that "they can speak Korean" on the red carpet which was sweet.

uh um
"The shocker, also known colloquially as "two in the pink, one in the stink,"[1][2] is a hand gesture with a sexual connotation"
"The index and middle fingers are kept together (touching) and the back of the hand faces outwards (away from the gesturer). The gesture refers to the act of inserting the index and middle fingers into a vagina and the little finger into the receiver's anus, hence the "shock"."
If this is really what yoongi's gang signs mean then I hope it doesn't mean what we think it means in terms of elite, sacrifices

edit: could also mean this

The first one is the one I immediately thought of when I seen him repping it but I don't think that's what he means lol I think that sign's more of a western thing? But yeah, it's one of the main reasons I cringe whenever he does it haha

Idk if this introductory type post is allowed but lemme just say I’ve been awake for 6 years now, and every year that I’ve been a fan of BTS I’ve always hoped in a corner of my mind and prayed that things wouldn’t come to everything that is currently in this thread. I only kept opinions like this buried in my mind of course, but praise the LORD that I found this thread, it is opening my eyes on so many levels because I was left feeling VERY conflicted again after last night's lit BBMAs performance, and I am subtly more relieved to know I won’t be virtually mauled by other crazed fans for voicing my concern over the direction everything surrounding BTS is going in. Have y’all talked about the new album already? Also one more thing, every time I see a one eye sign or blatant symbolism in their m/v or short films, I get so sad. Another note, I bought tickets to their concert in Sept, so I’ll see how that goes as they always have short films with symbolism throughout their concerts. Anyways, I hope to be very active on here & am glad to have found like-minded people. Still praying for the boys everyday.

The plot thickens. Now we wait.

Suga: "Billboard Hot 10"

BTS' 'Love Yourself: Tear' Set for Big Debut on Billboard 200 Albums Chart
5/21/2018 by Keith Caulfield

BTS attend the 2018 Billboard Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 20, 2018 in Las Vegas.

BTS’ new album Love Yourself: Tearis set to make a splashy debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week, according to industry forecasters. Those in the know suggest the effort -- which was released on May 18 via BigHit Entertainment -- could launch at No. 2 and has a chance for a No. 1 debut.

BTS are predicted to debut at #1 on the HOT 200 and if this does happen that is just more confirmation that their popurality in America is NOT going to go downhill.
Not surprised. They have over one million pre-orders. That's massive for any artist. In comparison to j0000pe's idol, Tin@she has sold less than 10k for her Joyride album.

How have u not seen their attitude on stage change drastically?
Or Jimin changing personalities or other members changing personalities
?? There are just some things that aren't what they seem and don't seem to have logical explainations
I think they are just being more confident than usual. As jk0000k mentioned how he preferred performing on stage, rather than just being fanboying at the celebrities, I feel the boys do consider themselves as professional artists. Sure they enjoyed seeing some sexy celebrities, but they are still professional artists themselves. They are clearly ambitious young men who want worldwide fame.
