The UNSC vote has been delayed again because the Americans aren't happy with resolution's text. Hopefully they'll get it sorted soon and the vote on the resolution will go through.
Interesting. I wonder if the upcoming vote might relate to statements from Israel over the last hours:

ISRAELI PRESIDENT: Israeli President Isaac Herzog said that Israel is ready to enter a new humanitarian truce to bring additional aid into the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of captives held in Gaza.

YEDIOTH AHRONOTH: Israel is determined to achieve a breakthrough in the ceasefire negotiations despite knowing that it “will pay a heavy price.”

ISRAELI MEDIA: The costs of the new deal to exchange prisoners with Hamas are likely to be “very high and expensive.”

As the Palestinian Resistance have said there will be no hostages released without a complete cease-fire and return of all Palestinian detainees. So is the talk of a UN resolution and efforts by Israel only a ploy to blame "Hamas" for refusing?

Then again we know Israel is suffering mightily on the ground and politically, economically. Like you said before Stucky, maybe the West is aiming for Christmas to get a peace deal accomplished.

A YouTube comment under the Piers Morgan video where he finally presses Mark Regev on why 3 Jewish hostages were killed.

(There is absolutely no point of posting the interview as Piers has only developed this sense of ‘conscience’ because the 3 victims were Israeli. Quite despicable really…)

We live in an age where it took the world 3 Jewish and 2 Christian civilian casualties to actually start accusing Israel of committing war crimes, but nearly 18K plus Muslim civilians were not enough to accuse Israel of being a terrorist state. "Ukraine is not like Iraq or a Middle East country, they're Europeans like us!"

Since they murdered those three hostages Netanyahu and co are under real pressure to deliver the remaining civilian hostages and if they fail the blame from the Israeli public will lie solely with them. That's why they're making statements like the above in your post. The problem the Israelis have is that hamas holds all the aces, so to speak. The problem that hamas have is that once those civilians are freed they have no more aces. So it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. If hamas (I dont think there's any chance of a permanent ceasefire) are clever enough they could string out the ceasefire over several weeks. This would also be a great opportunity for hamas to demand the release of Marwan Barghouti who is quite possibly the only man who can unite the Palestinians and that might be a sticking point for the Israelis. I note that he was moved from one prison to another in recent days so hopefully that's a good sign.

For anyone who doesn't know who Marwan is here's a couple of links to start you off

I can’t believe the question of why Israel has so many hostages predating Oct 7th still hasn’t been asked. Especially given many were women and children under 18.

I'm surprised there hasn't been calls for a new calendar where the 365 days are all called Oct 7.

“Israel will take the card of the hostages and after that they will start a new round of mass killing and massacres against our people,” he said. “We will not play this game.”

Even if they agree to another pause/ceasefire, why isn’t there more pressure to ask Israel what the end goal is? You won’t eradicate the resistance, in fact your actions since October have guaranteed the longevity of Hamas. You think those kids will just abide by your laws and allow you to govern over them when you decimated their parents and siblings?

What is the conclusion to this madness? It’s now nearing Christmas with no hope for an end to this ethnic cleansing.

We can safely assert that no one buys the right to defence line that was retorted on every mainstream platform for months. So what next?

TBH i have no idea how to read what is going to happen. It looks likely that the U.S will veto any Res and i'm puzzled as to why a Res is needed anyway as both Israel and hamas could come to an agreement via mediation between the U.S Egypt and Qatar. Which incidentally would clear Biden and co of being complicit in genocide as it takes a 'peace deal' out of the hands of the 'international community' and Biden, Egypt and Qatar could end up sharing a peace prize...but surely that's way too insane to think will ever happen.

Right now we're in Schrodinger territory where both peace and escalation are strong possibilities.

Edit: Israel has done a lot of heavy bombing overnight into today. Maybe they know time is out for their genocidal campaign.

According to one UN Security Council diplomat, a motion calling for some form of ceasefire or suspension of hostilities in Gaza is heading towards another veto from the US.

Our correspondent Nada Tawfik reports that negotiations went on until 00:30 in New York.

“We’re headed to a veto unless there’s a miracle," the diplomat said.

The diplomat said the White House just couldn’t accept the UN monitoring mechanism for aid, despite not having previously declared that a redline.

If the US does veto this resolution, it would be their third veto to block Security Council action over the Israel-Hamas war.

Efforts at the UN are continuing after Tuesday's vote was delayed with negotiators trying to agree wording that will not be vetoed by Washington.
