Where I live, only people who work in key jobs are allowed to go to work. The government have passed interim laws to ensure employers have to stick to the rules. No one is going to work or school or anywhere unless they absolutely have to be there. Only essential shops are open - pharmacies, grocery stores for example.
The reason celebs are endorsing this is to try and encourage the people who are still not abiding by the lockdown, to do so. It’s really that simple!
I live in Thailand so factories, offices are still open and most of the businesses which are shut down are restaurants, department stores. Difference is that the income is so low here that people who are laid are literally no money. Construction etc is still going on. So in short 90 percent of the population cannot afford to stay home while celebs living in mansion try to tell us to stay home. make no sense to me.
I understand that. I know your government is making money available to those who cannot but I also understand that not everyone has access to it.
Our government is paying people who cannot work from home but have to stay at home, 80% of their salary. I understand some governments might not be able to do that.
Nevertheless, this is a very dangerous time for everyone and it is important that everyone takes the lockdown very seriously. By continuing to work and not following the guidelines the crisis is going to grow and grow.
The sooner the virus is brought under control, the better it will be for the economy in the long run.
