I read a theory on twitter suggesting that this concept refers to tae being a fallen angel who has recently gotten it’s wings clipped, basically he’s representing Lucifer. Also it’s pretty creepy how the video is 3: 33 long because it’s symbolic for the term “devil’s hour”

Adversely, the term Devil's hour applies to the hour of 2:33 AM, 3 AM or 3:33 AM, the suggestion being that this is an inversion of the time at which Christ died at Calvary”

Devil’s Hour” or the “Witching hour” is believed that devils and all other paranormals prefer 3:00 am to 4:00 am as the preferred time period for all their activities. This is done as a mockery of Christ who had died at 3 pm in the afternoon. It is said that if you awake at that part of the night, it means that the ‘devil’ had paid you a visit. All witchcraft and paranormal activities are heightened from 3 to 4 in the morning. ‘Three’ also holds a significant position in the black magic world as an insult to Christ. Three successive knocks on the door, three times your name being called, three howls etc.

okay that is pretty creepy
In my mobile it is 3:32. but I just checked Youtube on my computer and it's 3:33 . that's creepy.

the 1st thing that caught my attention in the lyrics was him talking about frozen lake and how he got in the icy water for "you" and lost his voice for "you " the "you" I really don't think it refers to a former lover or whatever but something powerful , anyway going in a frozen lake or water is being baptised when he says that he went in the icy water for"you" I guess he means Satan not a girl ? and he lost his voice bcuz you can't say anything when you get in, you lose your freedom to say what you want , he also says "Have I lost myself or have I gained you " well this one's really painful .... that's what I got for now, tell me how do you see it guys ?
the song and the MV are full of hints
Yeah this part "I buried my voice for you" is very strange. He keept silence for who?
And it's again another song about pain and being punished. Here is the video with english lyrics:

made me think about BS&T lyrics :
My blood, sweat and tears
My last dance
Take it away
My blood, sweat and tears
My cold breath

Take it away

impossible that they're talking about a lover, that's some kind of sacrifice.
And these where Suga's lyrics in the song:

It doesn’t matter if it hurts, make it tighter so I can’t escape
Hold me tight and shake me so I’ll be unconscious
Kiss me on the lips lips, this is a secret between the two of us
I am addicted by the prison that is you
I cannot worship anyone else beside you
I knowingly drank from the poisoned chalice

A sound of something breaking
I awake from sleep
A sound full of unfamiliarity
Try to cover my ears but can’t go to sleep
The pain in my throat gets worse
Try to cover it
I don’t have a voice
Today I hear that sound again
It’s ringing again, that sound
A crack again on this frozen lake
I dumped myself into the lake
Over the winter lake I was thrown
A thick ice has formed

In the dream I shortly went into
My agonizing phantom pain is still the same
Have I lost myself
Or have I gained you

I suddenly run to the lake
There’s my face in it
Please don’t say anything
Reach my hand out to cover the mouth
But in the end, spring will come someday
The ice will melt and flow away
Tell me if my voice isn’t real
If I shouldn’t have thrown myself away
Tell me if even this pain isn’t real
What I was supposed to do back then
---

This song really seems to be about mind control to me, or someone stuck in a bad place but can't get out.
The part I bolded stood out to me the most.
Does the lake represent the music industry/occult? That he's lost himself to it and now it's solidified and he can't get out of it.

There's also a lot about not being able to speak..

yeah I think it's about being silenced by a stronger force he says:
"Have I lost myself
Or have I gained you"

So basically to be able to have this "person" you have to be silent about them? the ice lake is symbolic to some kind of initiation or like you said the music industry where he is trapped and can't get out

" I have lost myself "
That line could mean a lot of things but I found this interesting:
The Japanese say that a person has three faces :

1) The one you show the world
2) The one you shows to your friends and family
3)You never show it to anyone.. it is the truest reflection of who you are.

Definitely agree with the whole “loss of innocence” and “mind control” thing fans say this scene

Is inspired by this painting of Ophelia by Millanis

Ophelia btw was a character written by Shakespeare, in the play hamlet. She is dubbed to be one of the most innocent victims of Hamlet. Throughout the play she is known to be extremely obedient to her family, specifically to her brother and father, never questioning their authority. They would always control certain aspect of her life. Not to mention she was always ultimately manipulated and used by those around her. In the end she lost her lover, her father, her brother and ultimately her mind, leading her to drown herself in the lake.

Tae sings
“I dumped myself into the lake.”

The story of Ophelia kinda fits in with tae tbh...if you really think about it...someone’s obviously controlling them, but he can’t do anything about it, he has to be obedient and do what he’s told...not to mention he lost 2 most important ppl in his life, his gran and former best friend

It looks like he could stand on water which I the bible Jesus was the only one able to do and since he was a fallen angel in bt&t idk it might mean something.

Anyway, I saw this its like he is hiding a secret and since he is portraying the evil in the story and is the polar opposite to what seems to be jin the pure and innocent one in the story.

this is really concerning, the fact that he lost people he loved and he is so vulnerable right now and they can do whatever they want because he will be that obedient really scares me.

Exactly...when I think about it I remember there was a theory of his grandma being a sacrifice. Its alledged that the blood sacrifice for fame involves any loved one. In I Need U original version V is seen killing his father, in Prologue it starts off with V's hands covered in blood, thought to be his fathers.

The phrase Blood on his hands means to be responsible for someones death, to be guilty of causing someones death. Again in Prologue it shows V looking at a picture of a baby & older woman.

( actual pic of v and his grandma, you can’t tell me these two pics don’t look alike )

His gran died on September 3rd, ( it’s the same day as the death of Rise and EunB from Ladies Codes) who were rumored to be an illuminati sacrifice one of their funerals were held 49 days later, 4+9=13 ( a very important number to the elite ) not to mention on the day of his gran’s funeral BTS won their very first award for BST

I’m not trying to defame them or anything but all of this is too much of a coincidence

they're relating Taehyung always with death or killing someone, that's too much.
I always thought that his grandmother died after the release of the wings album and when they already started the promotions!

theory 1. The mask can be a way to conceal identity. It represents secrecy, lies, delusion and ritual. The anonymity of the mask allows attributes and personalities to be expressed that are normally shunned by society. The wearer of the mask may feel liberated to be and to do whatever they want while wearing the mask.

theory 2. The mv is very similar to Katy Perry’s Chained to the Rhythm or Justin Timberlake's supplies.
the mask and the lyrics in the beginning of the song reminds me of this video when he say:
A sound of something breaking
I awake from sleep
A sound full of unfamiliarity
Try to cover my ears but can’t go to sleep

he's waking up and he's realizing that the true world is ruled by evil.

but did you notice that the mask Taehyung was wearing at the end, the mouth wasn't shown, it's like he isn't allowed to speak, just like the lyrics when he sang about his voice...

well they gave him the character of the Evil one (demian) in WINGS, and seems like this is the character he had since the beggining when he killed his father in the INU video
Why did they choose him to play "the bad one" and Jin the "good one" is still a mistery
There's speculation that Taehyung is a handler of sorts and/or a lurer. People found it odd that he once mentioned being an "apprentice" instead of a trainee since that title is often used in Freemasonry as opposed to K-Pop training. But he's known to make mistakes when speaking so it's possible his choice of wording was misused as he tends to often do.

The comeback teaser gave me the creeps. I usually like dark things but this time it was unsettling especially the beginning dance scenario with the hand/coat rack and then the ending part with the mask.
