Leonard knew that Democracy and a Constitutional Republic were opposed to one another. He knew that Democracy was 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.

It's coming through a hole in the air
From those nights in Tiananmen Square
It's coming from the feel
That it ain't exactly real
Or it's real, but it ain't exactly there
From the war against disorder
From the sirens night and day
From the fires of the homeless
From the ashes of the gay
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A

It's coming through a crack in the wall
On a visionary flood of alcohol
From the staggering account
Of the Sermon on the Mount
Which I don't pretend to understand at all
It's coming from the silence
On the dock of the bay
From the brave, the bold, the battered
Heart of Chevrolet
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A

It's coming from the sorrow in the street
The holy places where the races meet
From the homicidal bitchin'
That goes down in every kitchen
To determine who will serve and who will eat
From the wells of disappointment
Where the women kneel to pray
For the grace of God in the desert here
And the desert far away
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A
Sail on, sail on
O mighty ship of state!
To the shores of need
Past the reefs of greed
Through the squalls of hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on...

It's coming to America first
The cradle of the best and of the worst
It's here they got the range
And the machinery for change
And it's here they got the spiritual thirst
It's here the family's broken
And it's here the lonely say
That the heart has got to open
In a fundamental way
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A

It's coming from the women and the men
Oh baby, we'll be making love again
We'll be going down so deep
The river's going to weep
And the mountain's going to shout Amen!
It's coming like the tidal flood
Beneath the lunar sway
Imperial, mysterious
In amorous array
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A
Sail on, sail on
O mighty ship of state!
To the shores of need
Past the reefs of greed
Through the squalls of hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on...

I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean
I love the country but I can't stand the scene
And I'm neither left or right
I'm just staying home tonight
Getting lost in that hopeless little screen
But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags
That time cannot decay
I'm junk but I'm still holding up
This little wild bouquet
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A

[Verse 1]
Well you can tell everyone I'm a down disgrace
Drag my name all over the place
I don't care anymore
You can tell ev'rybody 'bout the state I'm in
You won't catch me crying 'cos I just can't win
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore, d'you hear?

[Pre-Chorus 1]
I don't care what you say
I don't play the same games you play

[Verse 2]
'Cos I've been talking to the people that you call your friends
And it seems to me there's a means to an end
They don't care anymore
And as for me I can sit here and bide my time
I got nothing to lose if I speak my mind
I don't care anymore
I don't care no more

[Pre-Chorus 2]
I don't care what you say
We never played by the same rules anyway
[Chorus 1]
I won't be there anymore
Get out of my way
Let me by
I got better things to do with my time
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore

[Bridge]
Well, I don't care now what you say
'Cos ev'ry day I'm feeling fine with myself
And I don't care now what you say
Hey, I'll do alright by myself
'Cos I don't

[Verse 3]
'Cos I remember all the times I tried so hard
And you laughed in my face 'cos you held all the cards
I don't care anymore
And I really ain't bothered what you think of me
'Cos all I want of you is just a let me be!
I don't care anymore!
D'you hear?! I don't care no more!
[Pre-Chorus 3]
I don't care what you say
I never did believe you much anyway

[Chorus 2]
I won't be there no more
So get out of my way
Let me by
I got better things to do with my time
I don't care anymore
D'you hear? I don't care anymore
I don't care no more
You listening? I don't care no more
No more!

You know I don't care no more!

[Outro]
No more, No more
No more, No more
No more, No more
No more, No more
No more, No more
No more, No more

Try to listen to this with the mental imagery of Moses & the Burning Bush, the Exodus of the Hebrews, the Ministry of the Messiah...

Yeah, Journey was a cool group back in the day. They're so reminiscent of high school dances when the dance floor cleared and only to find a handful of couples slow dancing.

Apparently, when Steve went solo, budgets increased a bit for music videos as there's almost a two minute acting prelude to the song. :D This song reminds me of the summer of '84 and working my first official job:

I have many thousands of mp3's in my collection. This has been in my top 5 since Casey Kasem was still talking about it and it never left that list. Gooood stuff.

What a Fool Believes, Doobie Brothers.

I'll never forget the first time I heard this song. My mother & father dropped me off with their best friends, Jack & Denella. I rode around with them in our (then 30,000+) town in their new jeep, happy as could be. Little did I know my parents where formalizing their divorce all the while.

In some strange way, this song helps me make sense of it all, it brings back more positive memories from those days then bad, and yet never ceases to keep me alert to the dangers of the hearts of men, and the incredible damage it can do.
