Overcast autumn days were rather impressionable back in the day. I remember having all three of these cassette tapes (Rapture, Flesh and Blood, and Walkabout) in my bag walking to and from high school. Such a great variety of music in the '80s:

Funny, I hear this song on BobFM and think geez, I haven't heard this in a long time. Who is this? It's The Fixx, right?

Wrong! Haha!!

Man! I love the Canadian rock bands that were around back then. This one's a little closer to the Fixx. It's a Canadian group and was produced by Rupert Hine :):

I know that song...just didn't know the band or title. Yes, it does sound like them. Funny, I never thought anyone sounded like The Fixx until recently.

i am sure that '80s MTV had a lot to do with it, but i always found it interesting that the adult oriented rock (phil collins, hall and oates, rod stewart, lionel ritchie, etc.) was equally popular with adults and kids.

We are saints made of plaster, our laughter is canned,
We are demons that hide in the mirror.
But the blood on our hands paints a picture exceedingly clear.
We are brimming with cumbersome, murderous greed,
And malevolence deep and profound.
We do unspeakable deeds, does our wickedness know any bounds?
Something's gone terribly wrong with everyone,
All the world is mad.
Darkness brings terrible things, the sun is gone
What vanity! Our sad, wretched fires.
We can't medicate man to perfection again,
We can't legislate peace in our hearts.
We can't educate sin from our souls, it's been there from the start.
But the blind lead the blind into bottomless pits,
Still we smile and deny that we're cursed.
But of all our iniquities ignorance may be the worst.
Oh, what little light we have!
It only serves to show
The snares and seeds of wrath
We have already sewn on every path.

My heart is filled with songs of forever
Of a city that endures, where all is made new.
I know I don’t belong here I’ll never
Call this place my home

I’m just passing through. ....

I'm the first one in line to die
When the cavalry comes
Yeah it feels like the great divide
Has already come
Yeah I'm wasting my way through days
Losing youth along the way

There was a greatness I felt for awhile
But somehow it changed
Some kind of blindness I used to protect me
From all of my stains
Yeah I wish this was vertigo
It just feels like I'm falling slow

Yeah in this wasteland where I'm livin'
There is a crack in the door filled with light
And it's all that I need to get by

All of these people I meet
It seems like they're fine
Yeah in some ways I hope that they're not
And their hearts are like mine
Yeah it's wrong when it seems like work
To belong all I feel is hurt

Oh if God is on my side
Who can be against me
