Crazy things happening in Turkey these days. Country moving in [even] more authoritarian direction, apparently with populace's approval. By the looks of it the powers they're entrusting the presidential seat with are essentially dictatorial in nature; allowing for president to appoint ministers without approval of parliament, call for martial law, disband parliament etc.

Some voiced concerns over fairness of the extremely close vote turnout, citing the balloting system used to have been unfair and helping get this thing passed.

Apparently, this heralds a 'new Turkey'... From a conspiratorial point of view, it's certainly hard to overlook the 'New World Order Turkey' undertones behind all of this.

Needless to say, I think this is really extreme, but the Turks disagree and totally trust Erdogan, apparently. Perhaps being openly authoritarian so you know where you stand is preferable to the pretend democracies of the West?
... oh, and the German foreign minister, Sigmar Gabriel, apparently chipped in stating that "regardless of voting result, people should remain calm". Thanks for those words of wisdom, Sigmar, we lowly proles really needed your opinion on that.
