This should go as well as everything else they’ve tried against him.
I plan on enjoying this crash and burn probably more than the last ones. Btw how many times have the Democrats screamed Impeach Trump and got their hopes up, only to have their dreams turn to tear stained ashes? I can't wait for the next round of insane lefty screeching to start, getting those cold ones ready now!

Russia fail was not enough. Well, if Ukraine fails, there are plenty more countries to move on to. Where is the smoking gun? Is Trump taking a hammer to his twitter account? I enjoy watching people give him more power than he actually has. He is the poster boy for all the worlds ills to some.

This isn't Mueller though, and the goal is not impeachment but protecting Biden from prosecution ahead of 2020. Withholding USAID sure looks bad for Trump but so far there doesn't seem to be real evidence of quid-pro-quo. If there is dirt on Biden in this Ukraine scandal the dems should lie down and let him be prosecuted. Attempting to protect him is a desperate move that will not end well for the centrist establishment dems.

Any impeachment would have to include an investigation into what Biden's son was up to in Ukraine in the first place, and what Joe Biden was doing when he threatened to withhold a billion dollars from Ukraine if they didn't get rid of the prosecutor who was investigating Hunter Biden.

"If the prosecutor's not fired, you're not getting the money." - Biden, to Ukraine

Every Democrat voted today to proceed with impeachment. This is going to hurt them a lot more than it's going to hurt Trump.

What a time to be alive. In Canada, we just found out that Trudeau has dressed in blackface so many times, he doesn't remember the number, and in the US, the Democrats just stepped on an exploding rake.

Exploding rake...that's a good one. I have to remember that! Thanks for the laugh!

It’s an added layer to the giant shit sandwich the Democrats have just made themselves.
The thing is... they are fully aware that impeachment will lead nowhere. They would rather wait for something more substantial but the necessary optics do not currently allow for more waiting, so they have to settle for giving a false sense of hope to their base. People will appreciate the effort regardless, so it’s not as if people who want Trump removed from office are gonna flip and join the Trump cult because of this. It’s far more likely they will abandon democrats in favor of true progressives. I think it’s obvious that they are terrified of Biden being prosecuted. The question is: How many other key players, Democrats, Republicans, all the money men, etc would go down along with Biden? (Almost everyone)

It would not benefit Trump to collapse the entire system. He doesn’t intend to, nor would he want it to happen. I have serious doubt that he is capable of understanding what “draining the swamp” would entail. Regardless, this is going to happen. Stay tuned, but stay balanced... people will be legitimately losing their minds all around us. Mob mentality, extremely hot emotion, irrationality etc etc will abound. Count on it, and help those who will listen. This is inevitable. We are moving on from our past even if many will be dragged kicking and screaming.

A socialist perspective on the impeachment inquiry:

Democrats Praise CIA Whistleblower on Ukraine, Persecute Manning, Assange, and Snowden

"...The hypocrisy of the Democratic Party is limitless, but it is a hypocrisy that is politically motivated. The attitude of the Democrats to whistleblowers is determined, as with everything else they do, by the interests of American imperialism and the ruling class.

In the case of the CIA agent who has leaked information about Trump’s call with the Ukrainian president in July, the report is part of a bitter feud within the ruling elite that has persisted throughout the Trump administration.

This conflict is motivated above all by divisions over foreign policy. In particular, dominant sections of the state, including Republicans as well as Democrats, are concerned that Trump has failed to take a sufficiently confrontational approach to Russia and that his unilateralist and nationalist geopolitics are cutting across the predatory interests of US imperialism.

It is for this reason that the Democrats have now used the claims of the CIA “whistleblower” to either remove Trump or pressure him to adopt a foreign policy more in line with the intelligence agencies for which they speak.

In the cases of Snowden, Manning and Assange, what is involved are leaks by individuals that have exposed the crimes of American imperialism itself. This cannot be tolerated by any faction of the ruling class, which is why the vicious persecution of these individuals has overwhelming bipartisan support.

Millions of workers and young people rightly hate Trump as a fascistic representative of the American financial oligarchy: the torturer of immigrant children and the builder of concentration camps. But no one should trust the jailers of Manning and Assange and pursuers of Snowden.

The Democrats merely represent a different faction of the same corrupt financial oligarchy that produced Trump. To the extent that the struggle against the fascist in the White House is tied to the Democrats, it allows Trump to posture as an opponent of the “deep state” while he seeks to turn the United States into a personalist dictatorship.

There is only one way out of the dangerous political crisis: the mobilization of the working class against the Trump administration independently of the Democratic Party. The defense of democratic rights cannot be subordinated to any faction of the ruling class. It must be based on the independent mobilization of the working class against capitalism and for socialism.

This is inseparable from the fight to defend Manning, Assange, Snowden and all those persecuted by the capitalist ruling class and its political mouthpieces."

The case for Trump's impeachment based on his conversation with Zelensky has totally collapsed.
