I don't know if the thread of this series already exists. But I want to discuss it, and ask people what they think. I remember I was obsessed with this show years back then. Rust Cohle was very appealing for me (still is). Now, I grew older and I have the sense to reevaluate the whys. The show was filled with occult symbolism based on popular belief, literature, fictions like Yellow King.
The issues it brings such a secret organization, sacrifice rituals, p***philia, murder, gang, drugs, you name it. Also Rust character pessimism towards life and his critiques towards religion may attract people to stay in tune with the story. The ending wrapped nicely with "Light vs. Dark" and the light always wins.
But now I wonder, recently I found out that Woody Harrelson is heavily linked with secret society and I wouldn't be surprised if he is part of 'them.' Matthew McConaughey on the other hand, he has a persona as a religious man, though I am not sure about the man.
Second season final has with an open ending. Neither the bad and the good win.
Now the question, why HBO funded such a serial and why the elite allows such a bad depiction of them became public awareness. What's your opinion if you liked the series like I did?
