Google has 90% of the search engine market share. Worldwide.

Seems like busting up that monopoly is long overdue.

I think I know what's really wrong with the retail sector.

90% of the actual work done is from labor. Yet they build these huge corporate offices and guard them like Fort Knox. So that makes me wonder all the time, what do they actually do? Because it seems like they can only either sit in a circle and talk or sit on a computer and type.

Managers everywhere are probably hailing AI as a means for even cheaper labor. But the joke is going to be on them because algorithms can easily replace all the people sitting on computers typing. I mean I'm pretty sure an algorithm can probably make a better marketing strategy. What about loss prevention? Why hire some lazy overpaid human when an algorithm can handle that.

I read something recently about facial recognition software that can tell if someone is planning a theft. So bye bye security guards of the world. It's only a matter of time before AI replaces cops and the military complex. And yall thought they were heavy-handed? Hah, my suggestion is to start buying guns. And make sure the bullets can kill a robot.

I think people like to work...gives us a purpose. Too much leisure can be boring and bad for the soul.
But work for pay isn't the only work. You can volunteer, clean your house, get involved in politics, become an activist, paint, make music, whatever. They all still take work. It just turns work into play.

These Chains Have Announced a Ton of Store Closings in 2019

It seems that brick and mortar are all but dead. Sears, Kmart and Macy's are closed. Dillard's expanded. Another side of town is seeing a lot of retail growth with a couple of anchor stores rebuilding bigger stores. In the end, IDK what to make of it all. Closing Sears though hurt me. Where is a middle age, straight white man supposed to buy clothes without Sears? At least Craftsman got licensed out.

i went to sears the other day-- most of the stuff on the shelves is empty (but it has been for years). i asked about it, and they said black and decker bought them out and will be adding more stock soon. ive got tools to exchange!

kmart failed because of a few reasons. decent video follows:

most of the "retail apocalypse" is due to amazon. it is killing brick and mortar sales of goods. when its all said and done, i think the typical strip mall will be hair, nails, pizza, chinese, and a service business, like HVAC or appliance repair. the days of a local book store and the like are done. the internet killed them off.
service industries will always survive. someone has to fix and assemble all the crap that people buy online, and people are dumber than ever.
