The Law of God: Jesus Expounded & Gave Clarity On The Law
The law of God is love and bearing another burdens.
Rom 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Rom 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there be] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love [is] the fulfilling of the law.
John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
John 13:35 By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Gal 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Gal 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
1John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be [ye] warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what [doth it] profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Notice the context of the faith without works passage and the reason why it exists?
The law of God as taught by Jesus is sacrificial love and bearing the burdens of one another. It is an existence that is focused on others and concerned and burdened with reaching the lost and rejoicing when people get saved and come to Christ, the edifying and building up of individuals, praying for others and spending hours in intercession for them, bearing the burdens of a brother or sister, feeding and clothing those in need. This is what sacrificial love looks like in practice. Its concern is first and foremost on others and not self. Jesus said the world shall know ye are my disciples of ye love one another. It is the chiefest virtue one could have.
1Cor 13:13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
If ones understanding of the law isn't leading them to a life of sacrificial love and bearing the burdens of another and their primary concern is only with mortifying the sins in their own life and no thought is given to the sake and edification and well being of others then they don't understand the law and fail to miss the entire point. Anyone who tells you otherwise and points you in a different direction is simply trying to burden you. Their understanding of the law is narrow and legalistic that fails to miss the entire point, which is sacrifical love.... In fact the amount we sacrifice on behalf of doing for and giving to others is a direct reflection of how much we love God and vice versa...
God through the holy spirit will deliver anyone from the power of sin after all this goes hand in hand with salvation, but after this we are told to pursue and grow in charity, faith, hope, and love. True love is measured by self sacrifice on behalf of another.
My question to those who say they keep the law is this...
Do you live a life of self sacrifice where others always come before yourself?
How do you spend your resources with all God has given you? Does MOST if not all go to yourself?
Do you ever spend long hours in prayer to God for the salvation of others?
Do you actively share the gospel of Jesus Christ?
Do you grieve and mourn over lost souls perishing in their sin on their way to eternal damnation?
Do you love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and your neighbor as yourself in EVERY instance of EVERY day at all times?
Is your life characterized moreso by service to yourself or servicing of others? How much of your life is spent living for yourself vs living for others?
If your answer is no or you don't do these things consistently or struggle with these things then you don't keep the law nor do you even understand the premise of it...
Gal 6:12 It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.
Gal 6:13 For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh.
