The Bible is the plum line
plumb line
noun [ C ]
UK /ˈplʌm ˌlaɪn/ US /ˈplʌm ˌlaɪn/
a piece of string with a weight attached to one end, used either to test if something vertical, such as a wall, is exactly straight, or to find the depth of water
A plumb line, also called a plummet, is a cord with a non-magnetic weight attached to one end. When the cord is held in such a way that the weight can dangle freely, an exact vertical can be determined. Painters and carpenters use plumb lines to keep their work straight. It is difficult, while in the middle of a project, to determine a true horizontal or vertical line without an objective measuring tool, so a plumb line is employed. A plumb line applies the law of gravity to find right angles, to indicate the most direct route from top to bottom, and to keep things plumb. A plumb line doesn’t change or move with the whims of the carpenter. It remains true, and all work must line up with it or risk being crooked.
The Bible then being known as the plumb line tells us what is true and right...people saying they are Christians need to line up with it, it’s not the Bible that lines up with us. Why do we say that the Bible is the plumb line? It is because that the Bible was inspired by God.
God inspired faithful men to write different books that make up the Bible. Those books have in it the things that God wants us to know about Him and His relationship with man. And because God doesn’t lie and is truth, we can be sure that His word is the truth and that life here on earth began as He said it did.
To know God and His book means that we all know that there is another one, an evil, lying one who hates God and man and he has been actively trying to keep people away from salvation and knowing God by providing deceptive books and even lying about The Book, the Bible. He even tries to say that the Bible isn’t really inspired by God...that God is unable to keep His word in tact and in a modern language so people are able to know Him and understand Him. It’s amazing all his tactics that he uses and they work?
God came up with a plan to use sinful people (who else can he get?) to preach His word..so satan tries to denounce them too. However, when one does read God’s actual word and compares what they are told with God’s word, the Bible they are able to know the truth which is what worries the evil one. The truth matters so much that the evil, lying one...does all he can to prevent anyone from knowing it.
Once you say that the Bible isn’t God’s inspired word or question its writers, or add and/or subtract from it...you then put yourself on shaky ground for deception and for lies to seep into your thoughts. Do not be fooled, a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough. Galatians 5:9
Stay in the truth..the Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

1 Thessalonians 2:13
For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.
