First and foremost, the only thing so-called cultural Marxism does is reinforce the current capitalist status quo. It's not revolutionary; it's simply offering more people a place at the table of power.
More importantly, the people who try to connect it to the Frankfurt school show that they've done absolutely zero research into the Frankfurt school... Pop culture is held in complete disdain since it's viewed as a byproduct of capitalism. Considering all the things people say is "culturally Marxist" is also unabashedly capitalist... Well, maybe you should actually look into what you're talking about instead of regurgitating what other people told you.
Call it what you will - what they proposed was f*cked up and what they endorsed was twisted. They also had a lot of influence on society and the ripples of their "revolution" are still in effect today.
