That Poppy?

Every now and then I go into research mode when a subject sparks my curiousity. I did this with Poppy after gaining more interest with VC's article and subsequent searching for information. While I found more answers, I am also left with more questions which I will address later. Anyhow, I think actually like her more now and some part of me and maybe you will feel almost sorry for her by the end of this .. hopefully not in time, bit the symbolism may in no way be playful in her current music.

Fristly, what we have is a young women who has as been mentioned reccently signed with Island Records. Then enter Titanic Sinclair into the picture who is her producer and one who seems to have a firm grip on her actions and affairs. Poppy's real name is Moriah Pereira and Poppy was more or less what she became in 2010. She is 22 or 23 years old but her label and Sinclair have tried to hide that at all costs wanting people or fans to think she is under 18.

Poppy is truly a southern girl from Nashville, Tennessee who has been in the music business since she was 14 in that her father was a drummer for a country and alternative bands. In a rare interview which has been scrubbed, Poppy claimed her music was alternative pop in style and she was in no way the robot she is today.

In fact, she has several videos I have diug up which can no longer be found in the United States, Canada and anywhere else they could exude label control. Someone has gone to great lengths to recreate Poppy into the image she is today including a major wardrobe and facelift, dyed blond hair and all.

Some will tell you she is an actress and her current music is an experiment, but signing with ISLAND, well, that makes no sense to me, anyway. So, I tracked down the hidden videos in China last evening and I an tell you that her current incarnation is well contrived and controlled. Gone is a southern drawl she had and with that said here is a link to Video number one, called Poppy Outside the Label. Okay now, we jump to her music and you will notice that she is very attractive as a natural brunette. She had a YouTube channel then that was not controlled by Sinclair, her current producer. Here is a video she liked, the cover song for kids and it's pretty good IMO and nowhere to be founf but here -

She was obviously enjoying herself there and was in no way robotic. Lets move on,,,I wish I could embed these...of anyone could help, that'd be great but you have to know Chinese. Now we have her last video as a brunette in her Fade to You cover-

Oh wait...this was her last video as a brunette so I stand corrected. You will see her style was much more casual to say the least. This is a Black Keys cover but hold on for there is a rarely seen video to come that is original and interesting.

Now, we see Poppy start to go blonde but still far from what she is now with concern to style. And no, there is no symbolism yet but it is coming, yep. In this link, she does an acoustic cover of Tears for Fears Mad World.

By now you probably realize as I did that she was languishing along and then discovered by the industry who wanted to reshape her and it is starting to happen, but still no signs of Titanc Sinclair. But we are staring to see signs of her new direction but still a cover song Mac Demarco's My Kind of Women. She is starting to take on the pedo thingy in this video where they are trying to make her look as young as possible.

That leads us to the cover of REM's Losing My Religion...and we see the first clear hand sign. It may be me, but she looks as if she has started to disaccociate in this video with multiple expressions, some due to the video style, but still becoming haunting and a sign that this youn women may in the stages of being broken down by the industry and reshaped into one, two even three new Poppys. She is literally losing her religion right in front of us. Again, a haunting video they do not want you to see on You Tube elsewhere -- scrubbed stuff except it is hard to get to China.

Hope you are enjoying the ride as I did discovering this. Finally we are close to full blown That's Poppy a we see her today. This is where things get really strange for an orinal song I had a link to last night has disappeared and shows a Chinese error message. But here is the last video which is another cover of Breezeblocks. The video feature three different Poppy characters, a lot of black and white colors with concern to clothes and theme and newspaper articles draping the floors and walls as she seems to be working with a production team with a greater emphasis on creativity in the video. She seems to split between personalities You can almost sense a presence asking her are you ready to do what it takes to be famous. And you thought you were already hooked.

So, here we are having discovered some purposefully lost music they want hidden. They don't want us to know this Poppy or see her ascent and change. That southern drawl is replaced with perfectly annunciated words. Now that brings me to this... is she acting or is she an industry slave. Judging from what I have seen and VC has written, I think the latter seems more clear. It is like being a fly in the wall in seeing how the industry sucks someone on for ultimate control while killing their old self and making them into something new. Titanic Sinclair sure as heck seems like a handler to me. Oh... the last video ...

You could download/rip the videos and just upload them with something like Flashgot. You, or someone else, should download them anyway, as they'll probably be memory-holed sooner rather than later. I would've done it myself, but the videos won't play for me, just a bunch of chinese writing on the screen. I don't think any vids from that site play for me

Yeah, that is the whole point...fiding a way to preserve these. They will play with a flash but I am not sharp enough to figure out how to rip them in that I cannot read a lick of Chinese. I can't even find a way to download them on the site.

Have you tried a site like this one: http://www.downloadvideosfrom.com/YouKu.php You just copy and paste the vid link in the box and it should let you download it to your drive
