Iam waiting for our cousins, who claim Jesus as a prophet, to express outrage over this blasphemy. A lack of it speaks volumes over His status in the faith...
Who are your cousins who should be expressing outrage? Are you referring to the Muslims on this board while attempting to cast aspersions on the status of Jesus in Islam?

Brilliant! Dupe gullible religious people into being a major portion of your marketing team that all unwittingly work for free. If I was unethical I might exploit peoples' beliefs the same way. It's too easy. ;)

For real though, I don't get it. It is very frustrating to me that there is an epidemic of satanic cultists involved in unimaginably horrible crimes such as murdering babies and yet people are still worried about mockery of their religion. Seems to me we need to set aside this focus upon the provocative branding of their product, stop being so selfishly distracted by "omg blasphemy though" and get to the point of finding out if there is any involvement in any actual criminal activity or not. The whole paranoid religious fear of satan aspect needs to be left out of it entirely or else it's dangerously close to once again being swept under the rug and labeled a repetition of early modern witch hunts or "satanic panic" since no one will take it seriously, and rightly so.

I mean.. If in reality they are only guilty of mockery and selling ice cream, then who cares? The only reason someone would be upset over mockery of their religious beliefs, is that they do not like to be shown their own beliefs so plainly. Mockery of any and all belief should not be bothersome whatsoever, and is always welcomed by honest seekers. It is only bothersome to those who want to avoid seeing their own beliefs since they would prefer that their beliefs tell them what to see instead.
The fact that unbelievers mock and scorn the one who died for them comes as no surprise. The whole "externalisation of the hierarchy" thing is old news now. The point is that is has gone no far as the ice-cream our kids eat shows how they wish to make "scoffing" the new normal.

None of this current trend shocks me at all!

2 Peter 3

3Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation...

Right. Some unknown company mocks your book and your beliefs about Jesus and God (or Catholic beliefs judging by the ad UAC posted), but Muslims aren't expressing "outrage at this blasphemy" so that speaks volumes about their faith? If it makes you feel any better, I would never patronize or support that company because of their mockery of Christian beliefs. Peace

And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah , lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do. (6:108)

Does participating in this passive aggressive bickering ever get tiresome for the Christians and Muslim members? It's really cringey by the way. Visiting this place is more enjoyable when I'm not being bombarded with other people's emotional baggage

I brought it up because i couldn't help the comments (not just here but on VC's article aswell) along the lines of "if this was about Muhammad, it would have been stopped dead in the tracks". The reader is left wondering why insults directed at/misuse of that name is what "gets the ball rolling", yet most people are aware of the fact Jesus is a prophet in Islam.
I rarely, if ever, comment on the articles. If i had commented on this particular article, after reading previous comments, i'd express this very sentiment.

Lol so now we're your cousins in faith. Hmm, interesting. Thought we were devil worshippers

Well Muslims don't believe this to be blasphemy, Jesus isn't God in our eyes. However, I do think the ad is satanic and I condemn it wholeheartedly. Our beloved prophet Isa (pbuh) is above what they ascribe to him. I saw it as a mockery of the Christian faith moreso than a mockery of Jesus.

From a marketing perspective they've achieved their goals. Here we are talking about Sweet Jesus Icecream. I've never heard it of it before so this is the first time I'm viewing the ads. Just another way to offend the religious community all in the name of ice cream sales.

I agree with you and @Haich on this - what struck me is what a sly and cowardly way to promote a product! The marketers deliberately set out to inflame anger and get a response in a culture they knew they could get away with it.

If these slimy, cynical money people had decided to offend Islam with similar enthusiasm, the Charlie Hebdo incident a few years ago is an illustration of what they might face instead of a growing bank account.

This is not a point scoring post, just my observation btw.

So why doesn't the Christian community speak out against this?

It's not that they wouldn't dare do anything probing Islam, it's because the Islamic community defend themselves against these atheistic corporations who try and offend people to spur some attention in an attempt to drum up sales. I think the Christian community should unite against adverse absurdities like this instead of saying 'oh they wouldn't do this to muslims'. It just makes your argument look petty.

Unify the people of your faith and no one will mess with you, because you'll stand up for your faith, instead of passive aggressively condemning it on a forum.

I know you're not point scoring, neither am I, I'm just pointing out how on a thread about Jesus and ice cream, the Christians are still mentioning Islam! lol

Christianity starts in the heart and works outwards to actions. It's like a quiet, free revolution where a dictator is removed from office, then starting with the government buildings and finally out to the far reaches of the country a new regime takes over.

Unbelievers will blaspheme is the same way a child drops a coat on the floor and expects a parent to pick it up. You can try making your kids hang their stuff up and some will comply, but sometimes after the hundredth or thousandth time you do it for them, they notice you and say "no, let me do that" you know they have done it because of who they are becoming.

Duly, I signed the petition, posted up disapproval of the brand and if a shop ever opens near me I might be tempted to pop in even if just to leave a subversive Gospel tract on the table ;-)
