Hey guys.
Just wondering what Christians think on this issue. The surnames of the gospel writers are not known. Some Christians reply to this with the argument that Jewish naming conventions at this time did not include surnames. Cool, that sounds somewhat reasonable but aren't Mark, Matthew, Luke and John non Jewish names? So what ethnicity were the gospel writers and what's the evidence for it?
Edit: Yeah, it seems that people in that time only used a first name. Did some further research on it and this does appear to be the case.
